  The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout, which made a good first impression and added a personal touch to the experience.However, the room itself felt quite tired and on the small side, lacking the comfort you’d expect for a more relaxing stay. It would definitely benefit from some updating. Also, the absence of tea and coffee making facilities in the room was disappointing and felt like a basic amenity that should be included.Overall, an okay stay thanks to the staff, but the accommodation itself needs some attention.

  Excellent place to stay for an English family visiting Madrid

  I and my family very much enjoyed staying at the Hotel Madrid Plaza de España.The location is brilliant - you are walking distance away from Plaza and Puerto del Sol. You have line 3 of the metro right outside your door. It is easy and economical to get to and from the airport via either taxi or public transportation.The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly with a particular shout out to the gentlemen in the breakfast room who greeted us very cheerily every day. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable with the balcony being a nice extra. We would definitely recommend this hotel.   The location is perfect. Right on Gran Via. Noise level was quiet. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were tiny with just enough room between beds, and window to sidle past. But who stays in their hotel room anyway when there's so much too see in beautiful Madrid? The shower pressure was good. The room was clean. The staff was very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Shout out to Osvaldo for his pleasantness and for helping us find a Christmas Eve restaurant that was open. Breakfast was very good with lots of food and juice options. My only issue was that there was literally no space in the bathroom to put toiletries without everything getting wet. Maybe put up a small shelf in each room.   The check-in process was not very pleasant. I arrived at the hotel around 9:00 AM, fully aware that the official check-in time was 2:00 PM. I kindly asked the woman at the front desk if it might be possible to check in earlier, and she politely told me to wait until a room became available. Later, a woman from the reservations department offered me an interior room that didn’t face the street. I declined, explaining that my reservation specifically mentioned a street-facing room, and that I was willing to wait for one.After waiting several hours, I asked the front desk again how much longer it might take. This time, her response was quite unfriendly — she said she didn’t know and reminded me that I had already been offered an interior room. I finally received my room at 1:45 PM, and unfortunately, the attitude of the front desk staff was rather unpleasant throughout.During the time I was waiting, from 9:00 AM to 1:45 PM, several other guests arrived for check-in and were given their rooms much sooner, which made the experience even more disappointing.   Poor Service and Unclean Room

  On check-in, our room had rubbish on the floor and we immediately went to front office to speak to a staff member, Nicolas. We informed him about the rubbish and he assured us somebody would come clean it up. Despite our complaint, no one came for several days. It was not until the 4th night, the night before we were due to check out, that somebody came to tidy up. I do not recommend this hotel at all and will certainly not be returning. The service was extremely poor service and our concerns were clearly not taken seriously.
