    Your home base in Madrid

    rating27 Aug 2025

The perfect home base for your time in Madrid. Leonardo Hotel Madrid City Center was, as the name infers, centrally located, well-run, clean, and well-appointed. Walk to the Prado, el Mercado de San Miguel (pro tip: go hungry), and Retiro Park, among other places. We booked a small room, but oh, that view! Comfy bed, too! We will definitely be back. Hotel Manager, Owner at Leonardo Hotel Madrid City Center, responded to this review Dear Juliet,Thank you for your positive feedback. Our team prides itself on clean, comfortable spaces and stunning views that capture Madrid’s energy. We’re glad our central location helped you explore Retiro Park and other landmarks. We look forward to arranging another room with panoramic vistas on your next visit. We hope to welcome you again in the future. All the best,Beatriz Aguirre, Operation Manager

Mixed Experience – Proceed With Caution

    rating24 May 2025

I stayed at this hotel in Madrid for three nights. I chose it based on other reviews and didn’t have high expectations since I planned to spend most of my time out exploring the city. Unfortunately, while there were a few positives, my overall experience was disappointing—and even terrifying.Pros:- The lobby area is cute—I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it looked considering the low price I paid for 3 nights.- The location is excellent, within walking distance of restaurants, bars, historical sites, and a lovely café next door called Boldu.- Daily room cleaning was a plus—the housekeeping team did a good job keeping things tidy.- My initial check-in experience was great. The young woman at the front desk was kind and welcoming. I mentioned that it was my birthday weekend and asked if an upgrade was possible. She told me I was originally assigned a room on the 3rd floor with two twin beds, but she’d move me to the 6th floor with a larger bed instead. I appreciated the gesture and thought it was a great start to my stay.Cons:- When I returned to the hotel later to get my room (around 3 p.m.), the staff had changed. The new front desk team—a different woman and a man—were noticeably less friendly. The upgraded room I was promised had been given away. I was moved to a room on the 5th floor, which turned out to be a handicap-accessible room. While spacious, it had features like railings around the toilet and a fold-up shower seat that made it uncomfortable to use. I had to call and request a different room again, which they did switch.- The bed was comfortable, but it had wheels, so it kept sliding around the room.- The bathroom was clean but dated, and there was visible black mold in the shower grout. While the cleaning staff did their best, it was unsettling, and I felt uncomfortable using the toilet or shower.- The worst part of my stay: I got stuck in the elevator alone for 15–20 minutes. The elevator kept going from the 8th floor to the ground floor and the doors would not open. It was one of my biggest fears come true—I panicked, even started crying for a little. The emergency call didn’t seem to connect directly to the hotel, as they had to ask me which hotel I was in. Eventually, the front desk staff found out and got the elevator open, but not once did they ask if I was okay. No apology, no concern for my well-being. That lack of basic human empathy made the situation even worse.- After that incident, I avoided the elevator and took the stairs for the rest of my stay.Final Thoughts:This hotel might work for a short business trip or a one-night stay if you're just looking for a place to sleep. But if you value reliable customer service, and comfort, I’d suggest you stay elsewhere. My stay was part of a two-week trip across Europe, and this was by far the worst hotel experience I had. I recommend paying attention to the low ratings you see from other reviewers because they are probably accurate. Stay here at your own risk. Hotel Manager, Owner at Leonardo Hotel Madrid City Center, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your weekend experience at our hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed our welcoming reception area and found our accommodations to be spacious and pristine. We sincerely apologize that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. The situation with your room assignment and the elevator incident should never have occurred, and we deeply regret any distress this may have caused. Our maintenance team conducts regular inspections of all facilities to ensure optimal functionality, and our front desk staff is available around the clock to address any concerns promptly.Nonetheless, we are pleased that you appreciated our meticulous daily housekeeping service and our prime location, which provides convenient access to Madrid's most captivating attractions. We hope to have the opportunity to restore your confidence in our service during a future visit.Best regards,Beatriz Aguirre, Operation Manager
