  While the hostel itself Is fine, clean and relatively well-kept, the lack of keys and the fact that each guest needs to ring the bell is a bit of a nightmare. As some guests were arriving quite late at night, the bell was ringing throughout the night and it was generally quite noisy. Make sure you pack some earplugs if you plan on staying here...

  Beware: They took my money without letting me sleep there

  My flight arrived late at night so I had to look for a place that will allow late check in. I saw that Hostal Maria Luisa allow late check in (anytime after 13:00) so that's why I booked it. I paid partly using the hard earned reward points I earned from my previous bookings over a long time and paid the rest using my credit card. When I got there, the owner (I assume), didn't speak English, but was able to say that the place was full and turned me away and I left. So I didn’t get to stay or sleep at the property and they still took my money from the booking. Once I got home, bummed out, I contact Hotels.com to ask for a full refund. Hotels.com contact them and told me that they refused to give me a refund. I had to contact Hotels.com several more times and chat with numerous different agents, and every time the property refused to issue a refund for me. They even deceived (in my opinion) Hotels.com and told them I didn't show up. Since I was using Google Maps that night and my location tracking was on, I even had to provide Hotels.com a screenshot of my location at the time to prove that I was at the property that night. Even with that evidence, Hotels.com couldn't get this property to refund me. The agent from Hotels.com told me that they need approval from the property to give me a refund and there was nothing that they can do since Hotels.com no longer have my money because it has already been transferred to the property. I eventually had to contact my credit card company to refund part of my booking money I paid using my credit card, but I never got the rest of the money back from the property to this day.

  Very nice journey with my sister in Maria Luisa Hostel. We stayed from 30/03 to 04/04/2021. We really appreciate the sympathy and hospitality of Feliz. Thank you so much for all. He was very available for our requests. The location is just perfect!!!

  Simple convenient hostal

  Hostal Maria Luisa is very convenient for Cheuca and Gran Via stations. Basic standard room with air conditioning a plus. A room at the back is quieter than those overlooking the street view. Housekeeping good, change of towels emptying bins and making your bed is a plus. As others have mentioned ringing the bell maybe a nuisance but soon get used to this after a week and if you're hot and tired you can sleep though it. The bed we had was a bit hard on your backs if you suffer from this and a bit cramped for two people in one bed, may have to get used to this unless you ask to change room? Porters polite and helpful with street map but speak little English so don't expect full conversation best to go to tourist office. In all, a budget hostal with plenty of restaurants and shops, bars nearby especially if you need breakfast like us, we found Mama Ines near by was best.

  Customer service at this Hostel is none existent. We are in Madrid for the champions league final, staying in a family room. From the moment we arrived we felt uncomfortable, what is with the leaving your key rule?? The staff literally chase you If you forget to leave it, it’s madness. Every member of staff that we have encountered has been nothing but rude and abrasive. I have never experienced anything like it anywhere in the world. Disgusting. Literally worst place ever, not even good value for money!! No positives, 0 stars.
