    Great location, good value

    rating01 Dec 2025

Booked the Hostal Cervantes for a trip to Madrid because of the location, and would definitely recommend it.For the price paid, it was perfect. We turned up earlier than we expected, but the room was ready, and we were able to get straight in, and made to feel welcome by the staff.Location wise, 10/15 minute walk to the Prado, and about 30 mins to the Royal Palace. The rooms are basic, but had everything you need, and were cleaned and made up each day.No breakfast available, but there were 2 or 3 places within a 5 minute walk that were very good - Faborit and 100 Montaditos were our favourites.Definitely no complaints, and recommend it.

    No baggage storage as advertised

Positives - The location. Its within a 15min walk of Plaza Mayor, the shops, and El Retiro park and Prado museum. The beds were comfortable.Negatives - It was overpriced. We paid £112 per night for a Friday and Saturday night. The room was very small (especially the bathroom!). It was noisy and I hardly slept on the first night because of it (however the second night was quieter). The big negative for us - we made sure we booked a hotel with luggage storage. We did a weekend trip to Madrid, had an 8am flight on Monday to go home, decided to book a hotel at the airport for the Sunday night. Our plan was to leave bags here after checking out on Sunday morning, enjoy our 2nd and final day in Madrid, collect bags in the evening and go to the airport hotel. When checking out, I asked to leave our bags for collection later. At first, we were told no. I showed him the advert on our phone, where they offered luggage storage, and then he said we could but had to pick up our bags by afternoon. So we ended up having to explore Madrid with our bags for a good portion of the day, including our visit to Santiago Bernebeu.Do not advertise luggage storage if you are not going to offer it.

    Perfect for Small Budget

This unassuming hotel is perfect for the budget traveler. Quick email response, friendly staff, spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Housed in a lovely old building. Fantastic location - near little shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. A short walk to the Prado art museum. Anton Martin metro station not far.

    Bad bad bad

Location is good . But that’s the only positive thought I have about this place. One of the worst experiences ever . The rooms are really basic , but that’s not the problem. The walls seems to be made from a paper , I could hear literally everything happening outside of the door. Even while I am writing this review I can hear our neighbors farting in the toilet . Cleaning or better “scratching” the floor at 1:30am by receptionist is also not a best idea if you have walls from paper... the bed ??? super noisy and uncomfortable. After 1 hour I was considering to sleep on the floor .First night I slept all together maybe 2 hours . At 6am I woke up for the smell coming from pipes ... Seriously bad smell , even my husband, who is having a flu and has his nose blocked at the moment can’t stand it. Avoid this place

    Just sufficient

I picked this hotel since it's not far from the main train station. Actually in 10' (1.2km) you can reach it and the area is full of restaurants and shops. Hotel is at the 2nd floor (with lift). Very basic room, modest and unassuming hotel..
