Location

The hotel is located in the Plaza de Santa Barbara in the impressive Alonso Martinez area. It is just 1.5 km away from the popular Gran Vía, the lively neighbourhood of Chueca and Plaza de Cibeles in an area where many cinemas, restaurants, terraces, cafés and shops can be enjoyed. The closest metro station is about 50 metres from the hotel and Madrid Barajas Airport is approximately 15 km away.

The hotel was built in 1888. The hotel welcomes guests in a 4-storey building with a lift and 82 rooms. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are happy to answer any questions.     A great hotel that I can recommend with a clear conscience. The excellent breakfast deserves a special mention, with everything your heart desires: tortilla, fried eggs, Manchego cheese, Serrano ham, fresh fruit, etc. I thought it was phenomenal. The room size was also top-notch! It was clean, too. And it’s in a central location with great cafés and restaurants nearby. What I didn’t particularly like: 1. the safe, which had to be locked and unlocked with a credit card 2. the bed sheet, which didn’t fully cover the duvet.     A reasonable base for Sightseeing

    This hotel is in a very good area although a good 20-30 min walk from the main areas to see. Room was clean and good size. Madrid is expensive and this hotel cost as much for 3 nights as 4 nights in Seville. Rooms around the centre bar have windows out the the courtyard but noises can be heard very easily if you are a light sleeper, like me. Breakfast is average as its buffet & not very hot. Nothing cooking fresh like omelettes which is poor for 4* hotel.     Horrible experience! I forgot my bag in the room and called the hotel twice and they claimed that my bag wasn’t found when clearly I left it in the room.
