the worst hotel in my life, if you wanted to die and be in mourning come here, no music, no programs, the reception does not know their job, the food is disgusting, for 3.500euros I do not advise anyone to come here, the worst vacation in my life

    Four star rating, not deserved.

    rating20 Oct 2023

Could have been great experience. A/C did not work well, always too hot, shower could not adjust, gasket was off and stayed at lowest setting, toilet constantly flowed, fridge made noises. Reception was told and no one came or nothing was done. Internet was totally useless. Would not stay again. Shame could be so nice. Room 533.

Just returned ftom this holiday. If you are thinking of going here don't pay for the all inclusive package. The food is terrible so repetitive and not hot, children cannot get ice cream except in restaurant otherwise you have to pay for it, we spent most of our money eating out as the food was so bad. Not all bad though the kids entertainers were great our grandchildren loved it, they went to kids club in daytime and at night loved the kids disco. Also towels are only changed on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday which we were not told about. The maids are not the best. Also if you have mobility problems make sure you ask for ground floor rooms and also level access shower otherwise you will have to climb stairs to get to your room and you will have an overbath shower.

    Disappointing

    rating18 Apr 2019

I'm writing this review as a late twenties, solo female traveler. First thing's first: I am not German or Spanish. English is my native language, so I was shocked to discover that this hotel is basically a German-speaking people's retreat as nobody could speak English fluently and all information, entertainment, etc. is in German. This made it problematic from the get-go as when I arrived for check-in, the Manager made it very difficult for me as I did not have my AllTours confirmation PRINTED out; having it on my phone was apparently not enough. Nowhere did it say in my confirmation emails that it was required to have it printed. So, I had to stand there at the desk, at 10:00 at night, and try to email the confirmation to him. The server wasn't working, so finally he gave up and checked me in. I got put into a first-floor room, right above the outdoor bar/lounge area. I was exhausted from the trip, and hungry (the only food they had left in the dining hall at this hour was cheese, cold cuts, stale bread, and some watermelon). It was noisy until after midnight and I could also hear the people in the rooms surrounding mine. The next morning, I went to the desk and asked the manager, politely, if I could please change my room as I was unable to get adequate rest from all the noise. He was incredibly rude and impatient, reminding me that he still did not have my printed confirmation, and then told me I can't go any higher than the 2nd floor. He told me I could go check two available rooms for myself since when I asked questions about what was available, he got annoyed. Changing rooms costs 20 Euro here, regardless of the circumstance. I find this to be incredibly money-centered rather than hospitality-centered and was put off by this, but nevertheless, I changed my room to a quieter option. This manager made me feel unwelcome and as if I were a burden. I've never been met with such a lack of hospitality at a resort before. I additionally had the misfortune of having a very strange and noisy upstairs neighbor who would walk around her room with her heels or loud shoes on at 3:00 in the morning for more than an hour. I tried to call the front desk about it but I was met with an angry "What?" on the other end. Again, no English here. The food: It is varying but overall very, very salty. Not the most vegetarian-friendly cuisine either. Coffee from the proper espresso machine at the pool bar is not for free, which I found to be a joke. The coffee they serve for free from an automatic machine tasted horrible and was undrinkable. This was my first time to Mallorca, and I had no idea I was signing up for such a specifically German experience. I have nothing against them, don't get me wrong, but I would think places like this would be open to international guests, so I was surprised to find it to be the total opposite. To put icing on the cake: the weather was terrible. It was sunny for one day of the 5 I stayed, and the rest was cloudy, extremely windy and cold. I would not recommend this hotel.

All in all a good choice

Fully confirm MvdL 1952's review. We had a Junior Suite on the 6th floor with good side view to the sea. The Junior Suite is bigger than the regular rooms, so inviting to stay at the room even on bad weather days without claustrophobic attacks... As to the service in the restaurant we found it very pleasant, the staff was extremely friendly and the service (ordering and removing dishes) could hardly be better. The buffets are diversified, sumptious and we enjoyed the variety of meat, fish, vegetables, pasta, soups, salads and desserts. The hotel is in walking distance to the center of Cala Millor. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the "Borneo" very much. Some "negative" remarks:-As we stayed at the hotel during the last week of March, the sun didn't reach the north side of the building so we never had sun on the balcony. If you are a sun lover try to get a room facing the south- Be aware that the hotel charges 20 € when you want to change your room (for me an absolute no-go)- The balconies on the 6th floor are not covered so you cannot use them when it rains (bad for the smoker's retreat)- Seating in the restaurant is very tight in certain areas so you can't almost avoid kicking your neighbour's chair when moving - and, yes, no free wifi is certainly not state of the art, even when the fee is rather low (about 15 € per week, if I remember well).
