  big disappointment

  First of all, I will say that I am not a person who deliberately looks for negative features of a hotel, I rather focus on the positives and good time with my loved ones. Unfortunately, this hotel disappointed us in many respects. At the very beginning, there was a huge problem with accommodation, we had to wait 4 hours after arrival for a room (I understand, this is the hotel's policy), but we couldn't even use the shower by the pool or drink coffee from the buffet. Other disadvantages are: Further disadvantages are: -absolute lack of WiFi in the rooms or corridor - too few sun loungers by the pool -the entire chill zone is charged extra, not only the Basque beds mentioned in the description (we were literally kicked out of this zone :)) -drinks were mostly made from an automatic machine and were of really poor quality - basically no one from the staff speaks English, it is difficult to communicate because everyone speaks Spanish or sometimes German - as for the room, water is pouring from the shower and during our stay the air conditioning broke down twice for several hours - the worst meal was definitely the dinners/lunches - small selection and poor quality food, dinners were ok -the hotel staff were clearly focused on German tourists, they were served immediately, there was a visible difference in the treatment of other nationalities -microscopic swimming pool -the entire hotel has a lot of imperfections, it shows years of use, and the renovation has not changed much -the bar closes just before 11 p.m., the music is turned off and there is no option to order a drink a few minutes later On the plus side: +silence in the hotel +selection of dishes for dinner (including vegetarian options) Rdos Hotels, Dueño at BQ Cala Ratjada, responded to this review Dear Alexoxo,Thank you for staying at the R2 Bahia Cala Ratjada.We are very sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience with us.Regarding your comments, we would like to point out that, according to our policy, check-in starts at 14:00. If you wish to have breakfast at the buffet upon your arrival, you can purchase a ticket at reception or take what you prefer from the pool bar, paying whatever amount you wish.Our reception staff speaks Spanish, English, German, French, and Italian if you need to communicate anything.   Lovely clean hotel, very relaxed atmosphere

  Hotel was great, staff were all friendly & helpful, we were bed & breakfast and the breakfast was great, a big selection from cereals to cooked. We had a junior suite and it was huge for 2 of us, Aircon was brilliant and well needed. Pool area is very relaxed and a bit too relaxed for us as we are quite lively but we was ok with this as we expected it prior as it's mainly German clients reading books. But there's plenty to do in the area all within a 10 mins walk, the beaches locally are stunning with Soll Moll being our favourite and the restaurants along the stunning promenade and harbour are outstanding and very reasonably priced. All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet relaxed time with no screaming children running around. Facilities in the room were comfortable and cleaned daily. We personally probably wouldn't stop in this particular hotel again just due to how quiet it is but we would love to visit the resort again as it's such a beautiful area.   Excellent hotel with splendid quiet location !

  The hotel is great ! It is already our second time here. The Staff is really friendly . Hotel rooms are comfortable. Food is deligthfull and fresh. Hotel itself is cosy and located in quite not really turistic area near forest. Fully recommend and see You next Year. Muchas gracias !   Underwhelming and uncomfortable stay.

  Restaurant staff are extremely rude. A completely uncomfortable stay. Dinner was awful, chicken was not cooked properly and the options available were cheap and underwhelming - not acceptable for a 4* hotel.The only positive of the stay was Jose, the night receptionist.   On our booking, we got a deal that was a welcome cocktail (didnt get this) a fruit basket (2 slices of about 3 fruits on a plate too big for the fridge that had gone sour) a bottle of wine (but the glasses were taken away the next day) and late check out (we were told we couldnt have this) so not a great start. The breakfast has a lot of food but it seemed to be quantity rather than quality. As a vegan, I know I will have to compromise and I had bread and fruit each morning. there was a small tray of watermelon each morning but it seemed once that was gone, that was it for the day. The rest of the fruits were sliced up oranges, grapefruits, kiwi (the worst I've ever tasted) and tinned fruit salad in bowls. I knew it would be limiting for me as I also dont want to eat salad leaves and raw onion for breakfast so thats one less thing for me but my partner has no restrictions and loves all foods. He was less than impressed with what was on offer. We ate it as it was included but would have rather have gone anywhere else.The hotel has loads of restaurants around by the waterfront and I would recommend the craft beer sneaky secret bar just round the corner as it was fab! (take bug spray though, we were bitten to heck) Sunloungers are uncomfortable and noisy and very limited supply. A lot of people ended up sitting on chairs around the pool (the pool itself was very nice) The room was a nice size, the aircon is silent but deadly! At its lowest setting its was very cold and the room had no duvet or thicker blanket, just the very thin one on the bed so it was either be cold or sweat at night. If you are cold at night, you cant hug your partner as it is 2 single beds pushed together and if you go near the middle, the beds slide apart. We did actually ask the hotel to fix the beds together as we had 2 nights of falling down the middle but even then, you get wedged in between the single mattresses which was obviously very uncomfortable! This area is very German-holiday-maker heavy so if you dont speak German or Spanish, you might struggle in some places but the hotel Reception staff spoke English and were very helpful. Bar staff only seemed to speak German and Spanish so luckily we got by on our Spanish we knew (with the odd help of Google Translate)The gym was small but a nice addition.All in all, this hotel is an hr away from the airport and at over 115 euros each way in a taxi, it simply wasnt worth it. It was ok and we had a nice time because we enjoy each others company but I am very glad I wasnt all inclusive.
