Location

Ideal for beach holidaymakers and families, this hotel lies in Cala Millor, just 200 m from the beach. Public transport stops are just outside the door.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 105 suites and 98 double rooms located in a 5-storey main building and a 4-storey auxiliary building. In the air-conditioned hotel, guests are welcomed in the lobby with -hour reception desk and a -hour check-in/check-out service. Amenities include a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to surf the internet and catch up on email. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car (for a fee). Further services include a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service (for a fee) and a hairdresser. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service (for a fee) to explore the surrounding area. Lectures, presentations and meetings can be held in one of the 4 conference rooms.

Rooms

Air conditioning and adjustable central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the sea view from a balcony or terrace. Rooms include a sofa bed. For the littlest travellers, children's beds can be provided at no extra charge. A safe and, for a fee, a minibar are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A telephone, a flatscreen television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi are provided as well. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub, a whirlpool bath, a bidet and a baby bath. The hotel has 203 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

Guests can work out or just relax in the outdoor and indoor pools. Kids can splash about in a special swimming area just for them. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub (no extra charge). Sun loungers and parasols on the sun terrace create a perfect space for guests to relax and unwind. A gym and table tennis or, for a fee, billiards, are among the sport and leisure options available. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna and a hammam and, for an additional fee, a beauty salon and massage treatments. Guests of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy a fun entertainment programme (no extra charge).

Meals

The hotel includes a lobby bar. Catering is provided by an air-conditioned, non-smoking buffet restaurant. Catering options include bed and breakfast and half board. A delicious and varied buffet is prepared for breakfast and dinner. Gluten-free meals and lactose-free food can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers snacks. The hotel offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    We have been so disappointed by our stay at Hipocampo Palace. I’ve never felt so compelled to leave a review, and I am actually still at the hotel, but feel like it’s my duty to warn any prospective guests!! What is advertised as a ‘restful retreat’ and a ‘luxurious, stress-free holiday’ couldn’t be further from reality. We were excited to be coming here knowing it was newly refurbished. What we weren’t expecting was that the hotel was going to be still under construction and entirely unfinished - really not ready to he accepting guests. Whilst the rooms are finished (and are actually lovely), as well as the restaurant and main foyer, this is where it ends. - There is contruction going on all day, every day. You can hear this in the rooms (today, Saturday, we were woken up at 7:45 by drilling), and by the pool. Beeping trucks, drilling, cutting. It is dusty and dirty all around the hotel, and the grounds are a mess. There are exposed wires, many inaccessible areas, and workmen around all day. - There is no hotel information available whatsoever. This is only accessible via the TV, but it doesn’t work. When we asked about this (for the second time), the receptionist shrugged and said ‘well we did only open on Friday’ and to ‘just call us’ - but how can we know what to ask when we don’t know?? Beyond that, the information given by receptionists is unreliable/incorrect.- The advertised facilities (Wide-ranging wellness hub including, Turkish bath, sauna and fully-equipped gym) don’t exist. We asked about this at reception and the receptionist almost chuckled as she said ‘that won’t be ready for at least two weeks’… we also suspect that room service doesn’t exist as we heard someone asking for the room service menu and being convinced to instead go to the restaurant as it ‘would be better’.- We literally had furniture delivered to our room while we were in it! Other than the fact that the hotel is literally not finished or at all ready to be accepting guests, it is not a five star experience regardless (all their other many hotels in the resort are 4* so I wonder if they don’t really know how to do it): - Staff are generally unattentive and uninterested. There are a few outliers but the most pleasant people are the cleaners.- The ‘hot’ breakfast food is lukewarm at best, and plates are cold. Nobody wants cold scrambled eggs!- You get one beach towel that you have to take to the pool with you, and you can only swap this for a new one between 16:30 and 17:30. - There are really not enough sunbeds by the pool, and the one pool is small. There is plenty of space for more - I wonder if they are awaiting a delivery…- The hotel is across two buildings, so to get to the restaurant you must walk across car park and the road. Currently this involves navigating construction, but won’t be pleasant even without this added extra. Looks like they are maybe building an underpass which would be much nicer. - Trip hazards! Lots of slippery stone steps with unclear edges and small ledges in doorways. Be warned if you have any accessibility needs. - To top it off, wifi is patchy and doesn’t really work in our room. We have spoken to staff at reception multiple times and just basically had a shrug and a ‘sorry, it’s not finished’. Luckily EasyJet did refund us a small percentage of the total cost, but really it doesn’t make up for the fact the relaxing experience that we have been looking forward to, saved up, and taken annual leave for was ultimately missold to us by the hotel. Two stars rather than one because the decor is actually really nice (see last pic), and the food at dinner was enjoyable (have salads, cured meats, and whatever the chef is cooking rather than the lukewarm stuff in the pots), and for the fact that it looks like it might be nice in a few months when it’s finished!!! A suggestion to management: it would have a made a huge difference if, upon arrival, we received some sort of apology/warning about the state of the hotel and a gesture (e.g. chocolates, cava, a bar voucher, access to another hotel’s facilities…), along with a paper copy of the hotel information!! Instead we have just felt really let down - and I’m sure we won’t be the last. A suggestion to prospective guests: if you are staying in the next few months, get in touch with your travel company and cancel!!!

    lovely hotel very quiet. The buffet restaurant had a huge choice at breakfast and in the evening. Quality ingredients lovely fresh pastries and bread, fresh fruit etc. The evening entertainment was much better than any of the other Spanish 5 star hotel. we missed the Flamenco evening but the other evenings were all music but different genre. We had a suite situated in a separate building across the quiet road two rooms and a bathroom, very clean. I won't comment on the furniture or decor as the hotel closed the day after we left for a full refurbishment.

    The best hotel we have been too definitely worth it’s 5 stars. The staff were all so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you especially Victor in the lobby bar who was so good with my grandchild.The breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious.The hotel was very clean and the housekeeping staff kept our rooms so clean.The staff in the restaurant were very good too. The pool bar was great for a light lunch which was also delicious. We received a very warm welcome from the reception staff also.We can’t wait to return to this hotel.     We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions but do not think we will return. The pros:-1. Most of the staff are pleasant, in particular: Miguel (concierge), Victor (bar), and Iago (pool bar). 2. The swimming pool/swimming pool area. The sun loungers are spaced apart from others which is good for privacy. Cons:-1. Restaurant. I will caveat this by saying that the breakfast was good. The dinner, however, was not. In our experience, the majority of the food from the buffet was lukewarm at best. Moreover, on a number of occasions, our salt shaker either did not work or did not contain any salt. 2. Laundry service. One day, I saw laundry packages being delivered to the hotel at approximately 1pm. I therefore expected that my laundry would be delivered to my room shortly thereafter by the hotel staff. I phoned reception mid-afternoon to request an update as it was not yet in my room. I was told it would be brought to my room in a hour. There was no explanation as to the reason for the delay. Unfortunately, an hour passed and I was still without my laundry. I, again, contacted reception and was told that the parcel was in the other hotel building. I was told that the parcel could not be brought to me at that time. I was advised that it would take a hour or so. I requested a further update just before 6pm in person at reception. I received my package then. There was no apology.2. Entertainment. Circus acts, magic shows, and acrobatic shows are not what we expect from a 5 star hotel in Spain. We would have appreciated more traditional Spanish music acts. 3. The selection of ice creams at the pool bar within the locked fridge was very limited and not well stocked.     Perfect balance! Hipocampo Palace saved our holiday!

    Hipotels Hipocampo Palace literally saved our holiday! We had had a week's cruise, followed by a week's stay in Majorca. The hotel we'd booked initially proved to be unsuitable for us, and we asked our travel agent about being able to change (if this hadn't been possible, we'd have come home, the first hotel being so untenable for us). They offered us a suite at Hipocampo Palace. Having never stayed in a 5 star hotel before, we expected that the staff may be a bit haughty, but everyone was so friendly - even before our arrival. I'd read in one review that men had to wear long trousers for the evening meal and I emailed the hotel to confirm this. They did so, and I just mentioned that we'd go shopping to buy my husband some since he hadn't brought any. But the hotel replied that my husband could borrow some trousers from them. Perfect! Then, on actual arrival, reception staff checked us in efficiently and offered us a welcome drink. The concierge, Miguel, (a first for us!) took our luggage and accompanied us to our suite, explaining all things about the hotel and our suite - both in Spanish (so I could practice) and English for my family. On the way to our room, an elderly lady recognised Miguel and blew him a friendly kiss. After settling into our room, we went to the pool bar for lunch. Great range of food and drink on the menu, at reasonable prices. (Of course, outside the hotel would be a little cheaper, but inside the hotel you have the convenience and the assurance of quality). Similarly, the buffet restaurant for the evening meal was great too: lovely food, great service. On our last night at the buffet restaurant, the hotel gave us a drink on the house!The pool and pool area are lovely. The pool is a good size and a really nice temperature. The pool area is grass, with an abundance of sunbeds and parasols which are very well spaced out. The evening entertainment was varied and great quality. The shows we saw were only on for an hour, but this suited us perfectly. We'd moved from our previous hotel because of the noise there... so Hipocampo Palace gave us the perfect balance of peace, relaxation and the right amount of things going on. Some reviews have mentioned that the hotel decor is dated. To us, the decor seemed traditional and opulent, but I can understand how the proposed refurbishments (which you can see on their website) will serve to enhance and modernise the aesthetics. It was our wedding anniversary on the last full day of our stay and the hotel arranged for flowers to be delivered to our room. They asked my husband how much he wanted to spend; he gave them a budget and the flowers that were delivered were excellent value for money. On our departure day, we gave the flowers to the Receptionist and her manageress - and they were very appreciative. I would not hesitate to recommend Hipocampo Palace to anyone looking for a luxury hotel with friendly staff, and my family and I look forward to staying there again some day.
