Good enough but repairs and small efforts could make a difference

Clean room. Front desk accommodated a special request and were friendly. Beds comfortable. Lighting in room harsh and too bright. Breakfast was not as good as expected. Only one yogurt in fridge at 7:00 am. Loud elevator. Ice machine not working on the floor. About what you’d expect for price. some repairs and extra effort could make a difference. A Pig Wearing Lipstick

    rating05 Sept 2025

Stayed in the "King Suite" for 3 nights with my father. Just got back home today at the time of writing this. Apologies for lacking images; I was rather exhausted during the entire stay and didn't have the energy or forethought to snap photos. My exhaustion was not relevant to the La Quinta hotel, for the record. Here's a list of some problems and flaws that were encountered during our stay:-Window provided a wonderful view of the dumpster! Money well spent!-Tiny room; foot of the pull-out bed was extremely close to the king bed. Had to move the nightstand to fold it out. The King Suite is JUST a bigger singular bed, and a pull out sofa bed. That's it. You're paying extra for a worse room. It was $250/night, by the way.-No bedding included for the pull-out bed. Had to ask the receptionist for the necessary bedding, otherwise I would have been stuck with a bare mattress.-Shower is installed in such a way that requires one to fully get into the shower in order to turn on the shower head, and the water is cold at first. Really stupid design.-Closet door was rather difficult to close. It kept coming off its rails, as it was extremely cheaply constructed.-Receptionists are overworked. They basically have to do everything, including preparing the complimentary breakfast every morning. Yeah, they have to cook our food, too! Saturday morning's complimentary breakfast began late, so the starting time isn't consistent.-Housekeeping is only provided if you ask for it at the front desk the day BEFORE. Nobody told us this; we learned from reading about it in the elevator, which was in rather small print. When we discussed this with the receptionist the morning before our final night there, they offered to have housekeeping come by since we were never properly informed. We got back to the hotel about 14 hours later. Beds weren't made, all of the dirty towels were still there, no fresh towels, trash wasn't removed from the trash can. We were promised some degree of housekeeping, and someone dropped the ball.-According to my father, the coffee was terrible. Had coffee grains in it, too.-A little while before we checked out, I asked the receptionist for a laundry bag. A simple thing that we KNEW the hotel had; one was already in our room, after all. He rather awkwardly stated that they don't have any laundry bags, while giving me a blank stare. Sure, maybe they ran out, but he didn't say that, did he? He didn't offer to check, nothing. Just... implied that laundry bags aren't a thing the hotel provides, which would be a complete lie. Now, on to the good things!-Receptionists are friendly and quite willing to help(mostly).-Includes mini fridge and a microwave under the TV. They sell frozen dinners(Banquet, of all things) and ice cream in the lobby, so they're likely included in standard rooms as well.-Complimentary breakfast available every day from 6am to 9am. Decent options overall. Nothing stellar, but nothing offensive, either. Definitely not the worst thing about the hotel. To put it simply, La Quinta is pretty awful, or at least the King Suite certainly is. It's not worth $250/night(to be fair, the price was elevated due to an ongoing event nearby; all the hotels in the area jacked up their prices) Is it the worst hotel I've ever stayed at? No, not at all, but that doesn't make it good. My father said it best: "This hotel is a pig wearing lipstick."If you HAVE to stay here, I understand. Sometimes we don't have better options, or can't afford them, and even with all of its egregious flaws, La Quinta could still be worse. At the VERY least, avoid the "King Suite." It's a complete waste of money.Shout out to the receptionists, by the way. They did the best they possibly could, and were quite pleasant to interact with! ...Except for that last guy. Hotel Manager, Owner at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sturbridge, responded to this review Dear Guest,We appreciate the time you took to provide such detailed feedback. It is encouraging to know that you found our reception team friendly and helpful, and that the in-room amenities and breakfast options added some value to your stay. At the same time, we are very concerned about the challenges you described, including the room layout, maintenance issues, housekeeping process, and inconsistencies with service. We will investigate these matters closely with our team to address the concerns you raised and work on improvements. Your input is important in helping us enhance the guest experience.Sincerely,Hotel Manager
