    Good hotel, great holiday!!

    rating17 Feb 2008

We have stayed at the Sol Jamaica twice in the past 2 years. The 1st time, August 2006 was fine but not as good at July 2007.In 06 we recieved a room in the main building (241) It was fine for a room but the view was pretty crap but it done us anyway. When you book, make sure you ask for a high floor with a sea view as it is generally quieter than the main building. The pool area during the day was such a laugh! All the guests were fine and it was a great atmosphere, however if you do not like a lot of noise and capering about, head to the beach, but the pool is good. The food at breakfast is fine and evening too. big selection and you can have as many servings as you like!Entertainment is good to, the bar staff @ night are decent guys and pour really large measures, especially on premium spirits eg Smirnoff Vodka.I would definitely recommend this hotel. You make your holiday what it is...........Not the hotel!

    oh dear

i'm sure that this hotel should be closed for hygiene reasons! After eating breakfast and dinner here for 5 days, I and the rest of the party I was with (partner and other couple) all suffered from serious stomach upsets, not too sure if it was the re-heated chicken / pork, the mouldy cheddar, the over ripened fruit or the deep fried vegetables. The room was not too bad, we were on the 8th floor. Other than a bunch of very loud of girls all was well.Ok Ok they were out to have fun, but the arrival of them all screaming around the corridors at 5 and 6 in the morning was a bit too much to bear. We then settled down by the pool the next day, we thought that there would be no chance of them making an appearance before lunchtime, oh no we were not that lucky, they all arrived around 10am louder and cruder than they'd been during the night. The arrival of their inflatable friend truly upset my partner, and I found this to be extremely inappropriate, their were children staying here after all and to have a 6 foot inflatable penis instead of a lilo is a little over the top. we are now safely home in england and felt that we should write this review to let other people know that the hotel is full of screaming hen nights and stag nights, who have no regard for other holidaymakers. If thats your thing you'll have a ball, if not book somewhere else.We also went to Pirates one night, which is absolutely fantastic, i would highly recommend it for all (except the hen night girls, you don't own the resort of magalluf!)

    Good hotel great location

    rating07 Sept 2007

We stayed at the Sol Jamaica for 2 weeks in August ,2 adults and 2 children aged 3 and 4. The hotel is in a great location for the beach and also all the shops bars etc of Magaluf and Palma nova . Outside the hotel can be noisy and you can hear people returning home in the early hours of the morning . this is only to be expected when you stay in Magaluf !!We have been to Magaluf on three other occasions and we really like the resort as it has lots of things to do for a family , waterparks, marineland , boat trips and watersports. The hotel was clean we had maid service every day . The restaurant was clean and the food was good lots of choice in the evening but the breakfast got a little boring !!!The room was big enough but could do with air conditioning and maybe a lick of paint. The lifts are very small and slow.Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Magaluf to any one . We liked the Sol Jamaica but prefer the Sol Guadalupe !!

    Worst hotel I've been in!

    rating15 Aug 2007

Myself and my friend (both female, 23) stayed at this hotel for a week at the end of July, beginning of August. It was a last minute booking through flyglobespan and we really didn't get a good deal so I think that made the hotel seem even worse. When you first enter the hotel it seems ok if a bit aged but the second you hit the lift you know it's ancient. Our room was 243 and it faced the back of the hotel ie, a dirty old sandpit and the dumping ground for the staff. We only had 2 plug sockets in the whole room, one of them was in the bathroom and the other one was nowhere near the mirror so that was a major pain. There is also no TV in the room and I'm a bit of a telly addict so I missed that. The room was also very dirty and could do with a good hoover. The cleaner missed loads sand and dirt every time she came in. We ate in the hotel 2 nights and the food was really nice but we just fancied a change the other nights so we tried the mexican behind the hotel, a chinese buffet and mostly Tom Browns just along the street. All were good too.The hotel was very very noisy and on the one night we were actually in bed before 5am we found it very difficult to get to sleep for people banging doors, moving furniture and shouting.Magaluf as a resort was absolutely amazing and I would definitely go back. The beach is lovely and there are always sun loungers available for €4 each. Watch out for the gypsies who try to sell you fruit and cans. A heavily pregnant girl conned the guys beside us by offering them a can of fanta and when he looked interested she opened it and gave it to him. She then said it was €10 and as she had opened it the guy who sells the sunbeds said he had to take it. He was gutted. BCM is really the place to go. It costs €25 to get in but is then free drink throughout and if you pay in before midnight or buy a ticket from one of the street venders, you get loads of free gifts like hats, lilos, bags, glow sticks, hula skirts and even a beach umbrella!! You really need to leave stuff behind to fit it all in your case. The 1st floor has all the big acts like DJ Sammy, Judge Jules, Gatecrasher and Westwood and downstairs has the famous foam/water/popcorn parties which are the best laugh ever. We ventured up the strip one night but there were sooooooo many PRs badgering you and physically grabbing you that it was too much and we just went back to BCM.Overall we had a great holiday but the hotel really put a dampner on the whole thing.
