  good standard 3 star hotel

  My wife & i were swiftly checked in at 3 pm by a friendly gu here before , we had no idea where in the long corridor our room was, so much to our delight , our room was the end room nearest ty at reception, & we were allocated room 417 & having never stayeddate of stay; 9th - 16th May.he seafront, brilliant!Our room was modern, the twin beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was compact ,but fine with soap, shower gel etc provided in wall mounted bottles , we had a bath with a manual shower attached too, & i think all ,or most rooms will also have a bath in. There are two wardrobes in the room plus a set of drawers in one of the wardrobes, however i do think there could have been a set of drawers at each side of the bed instead of the two black tables, as there really wasn't enough space for all of our clothing unfortunately. We had a lovely sleep each evening ,very quiet ,plus the blackout curtains were brilliant! Remember ,there is no kettle in the room ,we brought our own ,& there are no cups either, just so you know.Our balcony was smallish but fine, however the views we had were fantastic, we were on the side facing the harbour, the pool & the sea, plus the large Can Picafort promenade sign below our balcony provided some great people watching ,as nearly everyone that passed the sign stopped to have their photo taken !We also had sunshine on our balcony from sunrise ( 6.30 a.m.) til about 2 p.m.So if you want the best views in the hotel , opt for rooms ending in17 ,or 18 which will be the rooms facing views toward Alcudia. The rooms facing Alcudia will not get the sun on them until after 2 p.mWe were on a half board basis, so later on we ventured down for evening meal. Now then, please note that there are two different times for evening meal settings only ,on arrival at reception , we were automatically given the later setting of 8 p.m. - 9 30p.m , the other time being 630 p.m. - 8 p.m. ,so i am guessing that floors 1 to 3 are the earlier setting & floors 4 to 6 are the later setting, but please correct me if i am wrong.So, onto the food, the choices on offer are not massive ,but this is due to the layout of the serving area ,as almost everything is zig -zagged against the back wall, be prepared to queue at certain times, however we found the food was nice overall, pity there weren't more vegetable offerings , some items were warm rather than hot , however the restaurant was clean, comfortable & bright ,but the staff in the restaurant were probably the most friendly people we have ever encountered in a hotel , particularly Pepe the restaurant manager & Fran in particular, all of you just worked so well as a team, so well done to everyone !Breakfast was from 7 30 - 10 30 a.m. no split times here , good choice was to be had for breakfast, & omelettes & fried eggs were cooked to order, there were two coffee machines plus a cold juice machine too, & there were fruit, made up yoghurts, pastries etc as well.Now then ,onto the pool /pool area, this may not be very good for the sun worshippers out there, as, unfortunately due to the positioning of the pool against a wall, the pool will not get any sunlight onto it until about 1 p.m. apart from about ten sun loungers at the front which will have the sun from about 9 a.m. , however the hotel is right on the seafront, so just go to there if you want to sunbathe, or there is a terrace on the first floor right opposite the beach but strangely enough, there are only about six sun loungers & four chairs up there even though there is enough space to put many more there, maybe more will be installed as the season gets busier ,who knows ? Also, we only used the pool twice as the water was ICE COLD ,as was the jacuzzi, was it meant to be cold, or was it warmed up somehow, otherwise the jacuzzi will never ever get used, they HAVE to be warm that's the whole point of them ! There was also a sauna at the pool area which we never used.The hotel has a very nice lounge / bar area with some lovely comfortable chairs & sofas, plus a pool table, & whilst we were there, we had two nights of live singers on ( very good they were too ) plus a live d j one evening , however there are numerous bars along the seafront offering live entertainment if that's your thing. Please be aware that this hotel is not 100% disabled friendly, firstly ,there are one set of toilets in the lounge area which are accessed by about 10 steps down into the basement, however the lift does NOT go down to the basement ,also to access the pool area, which is at the side of the hotel & not attached to the hotel itself, you need your room card to open the gate, & there are about 5 steps to climb up to & the gate is quite narrow too, however, the hotels own website does give this information about disability access & does give alternative hotels within the j s group to visit should you wish to.Overall we had a fantastic stay at the j s Miramar, all of the staff are super friendly in all departments , the entire hotel is spotlessly clean, again, one of the cleanest hotels we have ever encountered, so hats off to the entire cleaning team, plus there are shops, bars & restaurants right on your doorstep. plus a very good supermarket adjacent to the pool area, great value too !The beach just further along is great ,the sea is clear & shallow, the bus stops to Alcudia & Arta ( brilliant markets at both, 4.50 Euros one way for either destination) are a 10 minute walk to the left of hotel entrance on one straight street to the top, jus by the petrol station & the huge Mercadona supermarket.Would we stay here again ? ,yes we certainly would, we both agreed that for a 3 star hotel the standards are very good indeed & it was excellent value for the price we paid ,so yes , some little niggles which i have mentioned, but nothing major.Happy holidays everyone !   Great position right on the seafront. Lovely views from the side rooms. Very small balconies though, tight with the two chairs. Very nice reception area with views out to sea at the front with plenty of seating. Due to late flight checked in late so missed dinner, cold food was supplied. They offer you a drink of water at check-in but as late was not available. In the morning my wife asked for a drink of water that was on reception desk but was rudely told no. Breakfast was very good with all sorts of eggs cooked to order and lots of other choices. Dinner was a bit repetitive, still very nice but very Spanish. Cleaners superb as were waiters in restaurant.   Lovely, friendly hotel

  My son and I have just returned from a week's holiday staying at the JS Miramar hotel. The hotel is in a great position at the quieter end of the promenade. We were checked in efficiently and our first impression was how spotlessly clean and fresh everywhere was. Our bedroom was a corner room on the 6th floor. Again it was lovely and clean and had a fantastic view. The room was spacious and had a small fridge which was very useful. However, there was very little wardrobe and drawer space to unpack clothing and toiletries etc. This would be easily remedied by swapping the bedside metal tables for bedside cupboards with drawers. Perhaps a shelf in the bathroom and a hook on the door?I know it appears to be standard practice now in a lot of hotels but I see no reason why you should have to pay for a safe which is already in the room. It's in a good location with a long promenade for walking. If you come out of the hotel and walk right, there is a lovely little resort further along with nice bars and restaurants also. There was a lot of seaweed due to the inclement weather but we noticed on our last day that a tractor was coming to clear it.Back to the positives about the hotel, this is possibly the friendliest hotel that we've ever stayed in in Europe. All of the staff are a delight and are a credit to the hotel. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was superb in both the restaurant and bar areas. The cleanliness throughout was second to none. Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely.   Excellent Hotel JS Miramar in Ca'n Picafort Majorca

  Hotel JS Miramar is excellent, right on the promenade with shops and the beach on your doorstep, the hotel is very clean. The hotel staff are professional and friendly and the food is more like four star. I will definitely return here. As a solo traveller I felt completely safe in this area. There was entertainment three of the five nights I stayed here, which was good. Thankyou to all the staff for a great holiday experience as a first time solo traveller.   Great location right on beach front. Hotel very clean and well presented. Food was ok but would have been terrific for vegetarian/vegan as the choices for them were plenty.Pool is not attached to hotel you have to cross a road and use you key card to get in, it only got the sun after 1pm because of it’s position next to a building. The pool was very cold and no use to myself who has mobility issues as there are only ladders into pool no Roman steps or ramps, both the hot tub and sauna did not work properly the two weeks we were there dispite staff looking at it almost daily.We booked as a last minute holiday so happy enough for what we paid.
