  Not a place to stay unless you want an air bandb

  No reception desk- all communication done through whatsApp and email.No cleaning of apartment for 2 weeks - its run like a air b and b so a high turn over of guests, so lots of noise and parties at night. The only people we spoke to where the estate agents people that take the tourist tax off you!! And have nothing to do with Mar brava- useless! The cleaner did not speak English and did not clean the apartment- buy your own toilet paper/ bin bags/ wash your towels as none of this is supplied. We were told to put our rubbish out in the street 50m from apartment by the cleaner. The cleaner was friendly but don't think it was their job to act as a representative of the owners...hope she is well paid but I doubt it. Rubbish is piled up on the street everywhere in can picafort and alculdia. There is No swimming pool to use. Apparently they were partnered with a hotel 100m down the street but no longer have anything to do Mar brava. The beach is about a 5m walk and is lovely.The apartment itself is okay, a small balcony overlooks a busy street with traffic so can get noisy, lots of slamming doors can be heard through the thin walls.

  We were over the moon with these apartments. Location is less then 2 minutes to the beach and even less to the strip. Very attractive, modern and very spacious. Spotlessly clean on arrival and the cleaner came in 7 days out of 10 leaving fresh towels each time. On the top floor is a large terrace with sun beds, but no shade, so make sure you put your high factor on! Can’t express how lovely these apartments are. Only one negative is that the little roads outside are surprisingly busy so traffic noise could be a problem.......but didn’t bother us.

  This is in a fantastic location near restaurants and shops and only a very short walk to the beach, also it’s in a quiet area so no late night reveller noise!The main hotel and pool is just across the road, only downside not lots of sun beds so had to go to the beach a couple of times, but it is a lovely sandy beach so didn’t really mind!The apartment is spacious there were 4 in our party 2 x adults and 2 x children.One bedroom and the kids had a sofa bed, the apartment is very clean.C’an Picafort is a fab resort and we will be going back again next year and staying at the Mar Brava.

  Based on earlier ratings on Tripadvisor, our expectations were fulfilled.This place is a complete average with nothing extraordinary to it. Since the price is quite lower than many neighboring alternatives, it yields an ok bang-for-the-buck-satisfaction Pros: friendly staff, good breakfast.Cons: noisy street outside our room on 2nd floor, no aircondition, defect wifi, television the size of a wineglass all with spanish dubbed channels.

  This disastrous holiday started when my credit card was charged twice at the time of booking and Mar Brava ignored all my correspondance to get my money back. I eventually had to go to booking.com to get my money refunded.On arrival I was interrogated on two separate occassions as to why I had a refund receipt on my file. They were genuinely concerned that I may be staying at their accommodation without paying and checked both times that I had indeed paid twice.When we were shown to our apartment it wasn't situated opposite the Maracaibo as part of a complex as indicated but infact was a non descript residential apartment block down a back street completely separate from the Maracaibo.A cot was not provided as requested at the time of resesrvation and then I was given a cot with no sheets. After two days with no sheets I was then provided with stained sheets. I was still charged for the cot for the whole duration even though it was unusable.We had no hot water for the first 3 days. Every time I went to reception I was continually told it was fixed but on returning to the room it was still cold. They eventually offered us another room to take showers but when I was given the key to another apartment I was horrified to see this hadn't been cleaned after the previous occupants had left. I had to demand to be moved to another apartment that was clean with hot water. I was allowed to look at all the available rooms to pick which one I wanted which showed that none of the rooms are actually anything like their photos. The pictures indicate bright, spacious apartments but they are all actually dark, depressing, shabby and in a bad state of repair.With ants, grubby furniture, stained sheets, thin greying towels with holes, rips in the sofa beds (which are not actually sofa beds as described but just 'L' shaped sofas so only suitable for 2 small children and not the 4 adults as suggested) the accommodation was depressing.We were supposed to be able to use the facilities of the Maracaibo but this was in the process of being closed down for the end of season so was like a ghost town with white washed windows, chairs and tables stacked and covered in white sheets, lamps covered in black bin bags, no guests to be seen, 2 members of staff and an unhelpful manager.It was interesting to see on our return home that they were still taking bookings for up until the end of October without having changed the property description to state that the Maracaibo was actually closed so any poor unsuspecting visitors would arrive to a hotel that wasn't open and a sign on the front door asking them to telephone the managers mobile phone to let them into their apartment.
