  Decent Budget Accommodation But Dead Area in Winter

  This is a budget hotel, located about four blocks from the beach in Arenal. Most of the businesses were closed when I was there in the off-season so very limited options for dining in later hours but they have a quaint and friendly bar and cafe that's open early until late. Man at check-in was also tending bar. Spoke fair English and was friendly enough. Bed was comfy, wifi good, TV channels were all Spanish so I didn't use it. The room had a heating/cooling unit but it was never turned on and the room was freezing. I assumed there were too few guests to justify then turning it on so never said anything, which was foolish. I just used fleece blankets in the closet. Later spoke with other guests who said they just asked the front desk to turn it on. Bed was comfy, lots of lights and good blackout curtains. Room was pretty clean. There was shower gel and soap is refillable containers in the bathroom. Hot water was a challenge. You literally had to position the single knob in the shower to within a millimeter or two of a specific position and run it for about five minutes for it the bearable. Breakfast was a very nice.Price was reasonable. It's not far from the airport. Bus nearby goes there but was it late or non-existant when I used it. Not perfect but I would stay again.

  Avoid this place!

  Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms smell bad, the noise is unbearable (if you chose this hotel, prepare to be woken up at 3am), and the staff is incredibly rude. We had booked this hotel for three nights, but because we couldn't sleep and because we actually felt unsafe (at 3am we were woken up by a group of drunk guys kicking our door), we chose to leave after the first night. When we complained about the situation, the receptionist told us that this was a hotel and if we wanted peace and quiet we should go to the hospital. Very rude!On top of that, the rooms have air conditioning that you can't use. You have to call the reception to ask them to turn on the AC and when it gets very cold (you can't set the temperature yourself), you have to call again. We didn't have a remote control for the TV and the lights in the room didn't work. If you have a choice between booking a room in this hotel or sleeping on the bench in the park, choose the park. I am sure it will be cleaner, safer and quieter.

  Avoid at a cost

  If you are ready to experience what hellhole is like, then thsi hotel is for you. Its smelly, loud and too expensive for the quality. Get ready to be woken up by everything. The bell in the lobby is loud enough to wake up the dead. The paper thin walls will eake you up if someone whispers next door. The constant slamming of doors in the lobby from 5am will make sure that you wont sleep. And breakfast will definitely make you feel like throwing up. This is not a hotel. This is a test of your character Can you pass?

  Stayed here from in the first week in February 2022 . I have to say it was a rather good experience. Staff excellent, rooms adequate, and cleaned every day . The breakfast was a decent start to the day . The bar in reception is a local bar full of great local characters. The hotel was reasonable priced and the bar prices excellent. In high season it is a rowdy area so low season is probably best if you don’t want the to mingle with the rowdy crowd

  Wouldn't stay again even someone paid me

  Let me put it this way. You would be better off committing a crime, getting arrested and spending night in jail being bummed by some large dude than spending a night at this hellhole.Who needs this amount of bleach to clean the room? What happened here before I got in?Shower had no cold water so either you dont shower or shower by slowly cooking under 10000 degree water.Staying on 3rd floor doeant mean you dont hear people talking and having a good time in the bar on ground floor. Room window doesn't close so its constantly 10 degrees in your room at night. And you hear everything happening in the street below.Want a remote control for your tv? That's €10. And breakfast is a fee slices of salami, bread and some unknown cereal.
