  Quiet location...gold dust !!

  It's been a while since we stayed at this apartment block but feel it deserved a review. We stayed here some time back and after getting of the transfer coach at 23:30 and were a little shocked to think we'd been dropped off in the middle of nowhere - how wrong we were. The owner arrived shortly after a quick phone call and let us in. The Apartments - Are a block of around 12 SC rooms located in one block on the outskirts of town. The rooms are simple but clean and our ground floor room offered a combined lounge / kitchenette / diner / kids sleeping sofas and second bedroom and bathroom. The "gold dust" here was the pool which came with sunbeds, grassed area and was clean, quiet with no early morning sun bed rush!! We rarely had more than around 6 or 7 folks around the pool. The Location - The apartments are on the out skirts of town which means around a 15-20 mins walk into town in the evening for something to eat / drink. But there are plenty of restaurants, bars, amenities and kids play areas in town which provided some great evening activities for the kids and adults.Super markets close by for us self-cater folks. The Beach - there is a sandy beach in a rocky cove within a 10 min walk which was a rather busy during peak times. Conclusion - a clean simple apartment block in a quiet part of town offering basic facilities and a nice quiet pool. The walk in to town in the evening was no problem and helped work up an appetite. Would we stay here again, yes, I think we would.

  In first instance the appartment and place looked great. A nice beach within walking distance and nice and quiet surroundings.But the horror was in the cleaning.The whole appartment and bathroom smelled of urine and sweat. The floor was sandy and the bathroom sour. The refridgerator was rusty and the dishes were sticky. The boiler was leakinh. All at ARRIVAL.Since we were tired we cleaned the appartment as good as possible and had our best time. But A couple days later, there still hasnt been a proper cleaning. We met the cleaning lady one morning and made our complaints. She assured us that the appartment was going to get cleaned. After a long day of travelling we came to a dirty appartment, she had only swept the floor. We made our complaint to the owner, who came to clean the appartment herself. But still not properly done...It is a shame that Serena Sol is letting people stay in such dirty appartment. Never again ..... HORROR

  Modestly priced well cared for apartments on edge of town

  The location is really good if you like things a bit quieter. Cala Ferrera is only a five minutes walk away and on the other side plenty of bars and restaurants. The apartments are very clean and comfortable. The cooking facilities are quite simple with no basic foods so bring your own salt pepper etc! The pool was just perfect.

  Have read the pros and cons on several sites.Although some are not nice about the owners, I can only say that they are friendly and helpful. The (owner) lady who owns the Spar nearby (10 minutes walk) reacts quickly when you have a problem. She speaks very well English.Serena Sol is quietly situated. Yes there are chickens and a rooster nearby and the neighbors have 2 dogs. So sometimes you will hear animals. But you can also hear the sea crashing into the cliffs. The cliffs are at 5 minute from the apartment complex. High and very steep and no safety fences! Behind the complex is a complex of sports of some kind. Saturday evening you will hear loud music until 12 or so.From the apartment, you can walk towards the nearest beach (small one), Playa de Cala Serena. You can try to walk over the cliffs towards the other beach in the north, Cala Mitjana, but do not bother. You can’t get there via de cliffs! Best (sand) beach around is S'Amarador Beach. ½ hour by car. Parking lot, 5 euro (benefits go to a good cause), and 2 beds and umbrella 17,85 Euro. Only about 16 sun umbrellas and 32 beds but with a safe underneath the umbrellas. Small beach shop with food, beer and some warm snacks. Yes, the cleaning could be better. Towels were changed every 2 days and the bins were emptied and some toilet paper was placed. Bed-linen once a week. Think that I have not noticed any other cleaning.Kitchen equipment is minimal. Bring a small sharp knife for cutting.Fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, filter coffee machine and water cooker.Sofa is adjustable to a small twin bed.Beds are hard, so we did put the duvet and a blanket to make it softer. Reasonable. Pillows are hard and low.Only 3 floors with rooms. The ground and second have small balconies and these floors have each 6 rooms. The 4 on the top floor have either 1 big or 2 smaller balconies. You can’t see the sea. But you can get stunning sunsets.Complex is not suitable for those who are wheelchair dependent. Ground floor is also accessible via a small stair.Swimming pool is perfect. No shading. Do not lie under the trees, some kind of bug will bite you and the bumps itch like hell for several days. There are mosquito’s! Bring stuff to keep them away.Airco switches off automatically after 2 hours. Also at night.It’s about a 20 to 25 minutes walk into the city centre of Cala D’Or. When you take a taxi, approx 10 euro. Rental car is advisable.Late checkout after 10 o’clock will cost you 30 euro if the room is not reserved for others.Bus stop, at 15 minutes walk. Steep hills for pedestrians everywhere.Santanyí market Wednesday and Saturday 9 to 13, is worth visiting.Torrent de Pareis on the otherside of the isand. Park at, Port de Sa Calobra.Would we go back? Yes.

  as we walked through the centre of cala d'Or, we were surprised at how busy and teeming with tourists it was. Serena sol is a bit more isolated, which is a plus in my opinion.apartments are spacy and have a nice little balcony. beds are comfortable though extra pillow would've been nice. kitchen is fully equipped but would've been nice to have some basics (seasoning, dish detergent, sponge) already available. buying those felt a bit too much like the stuff you actually want to escape from with this kind of holiday!owners are friendly, rooms cleaned regularly. pool was never too busy.overall, a fine budget option if you don't mind a bit of a walk to some of the action.
