    Nice hotel in good location

    rating12 Oct 2019

Friendly hotel, very clean room overlooking the pool and with view of lake. Nice reasonable sized pool with lifeguard. Short walk to the beach. Close to bars and restaurants. Apartment had cooking facilities, kettle and toaster. Fridge worked fine but was a bit rusty at the bottom.

    Good, clean, basic, location great

    rating28 Sept 2019

Spent 10 days here in July. Although reviews were not great, the location was ideal for my partner to go cycling. I must say that, for the money, it was well worth it. Apart from the cycling, the location is great. It is only minutes away from a lot of shops, bars and restaurants and the beach. Lidl is about a 20 minute walk away. Bus stops are quite near and there are always taxis you can stop. 30 minutes by bus to the port and costs 1.60 euros. We had a large corner room (102), furniture a bit dated but very clean. I wish I could say we had a pool view, we were pointed in that direction but, as we were on the floor above the bar, the view was mostly of the roof! We had a wrap around balcony but one side of it is extremely narrow, only the width of a chair. The balacony also has opaque perspex covering the railings so when you are sitting down you can only see above your eye level and not what is happening on the ground. The room air con worked ok, but the doors have to be closed. Even so, I still got bitten by a couple of mozzies during the night. The beds and pillows are comfy, there is plenty of storage space, rooms and towels are cleaned daily except Sunday. The bathroom was clean but needed a bit of maintenance, not much, mainly sealant. A hairdrier is provided as is shampoo/shower gel, but it's a bit rubbish so I'd advise to bring your own. Always plenty of hot water. The electric did go off a few times, but this was local and not just the hotel. The lift always seemed to be working when we were there but we mostly used the stairs, being on the first floor. The kitchen is very basic. We did not have a microwave in our room but, until I just read other recent reviews, now see that some did. So I am sure one would be given if you asked. The hob was rubbish. 2 rings but no markings to see if it is high or low. A frying pan, large suacepan, kettle and some utensils. Just about enough to make do. We mostly fried some chicken or salmon fillets and had salad and could manage that. No tin opener and only a small tea towel provided. The fridge worked well but was quite rusty. The pool area is very clean and there are lots of loungers, however, there are only 3 sides of the pool to use as the bar takes up the fourth. The pool is also shared with the hotel next door so can get very full so you can end up very close to your neigbouring lounger. The pool is not massive but does have a children's section, which is quite small. There is also a lifeguard on duty and the best place for all day sun is next to the little building he sits outside. Most of the pool gets the sun but you have to wait in some areas for it to get around to you. They could do with more parasols and the ones they have are starting to get a bit temperamental when trying to put them up.When we arrived we were only given one room key between two of us. We asked for another and were given one for the electric, which was great as we could leave the air con on to cool the room during the day. I was a bit disappointed in the wi-fi as it cost 3 euros a day or 20 for 7 days. You had to pay 10 euros deposit on the tv remote, but that was refunded. There were quite a few English channels, although we only watched the news. The room tax was 39 euros for the two of us for 10 days. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. I'm afraid that, unlike some "hotel" reviews, I cannot name them all as I do not go on holiday to make friends with them. I prefer to tell people what the actual hotel is like. All in all, this is a very good hotel for the money and location, it is close to everything, either walking or by bus. If you don't want to cook, there is everything from fast food to snack bars and restaurants all nearby. The chinese buffet next to the hotel is lovely. Although it's in a busy area, as the entrance is down a side street you get very little noise. I would recommend the El Lago and would definitely book it again.

    Basic, dated but clean

    rating09 Sept 2019

I was a bit worried after reading recent reviews, even packed extra towels, but actually the room was fine. It was basic, very dated but clean. There wasn't a kettle in the room but the lady at reception kindly provided us with one. Excellent location for the beach and restaurants. We also paid €30 to have a room on the last day as it was a night time flight, this was well worth it.
