    Tired

    rating06 Apr 2023

We stayed here in 2019 and although the hotel was tired and dated the restaurant made up for it with a glorious tasting menu so when we decided to revisit the region we naturally decided to come back here. It was a mistake. The hotel is still tired and dated and the restaurant has gone downhill with a limited selection of dishes at a high price which weren’t worth it. Such a shame as now this hotel has lost the one thing that made it good.

    Good value for money.

The only minus was the service in the restaurant and the bathrooms of the rooms should be modernised. Overall the location is amazing, the hotel is small and cosy. The quality of the food was good, still the offer limiteed.

A great stay here, had stopped by a few weeks ago for a "plat du jour" which was excellent , really a gastronomic delight. Decided to book a room over the weekend demi pension. Room fine with balcony and valley views, evening set meal again a gastronomic experience, bravo to the chef. Breakfast fine and must say all the staff very professional and welcoming. Will definitely stay again when visiting. Well done all...!!

Terrible service, but brilliant location and nice swimming pool.

    rating25 Jan 2020

The hotel is nicely located in the heart of La Petite Pierre, with walking trails and the forest just next door - where I spotted several species of birds, lizards, rodents and deers. The hotel offers a really nice swimming pool, which was much appreciated. There are free parking spots or your car on the opposite side of the road. The rooms and bathroom were well sized, but the door were very creaky and very strangely the windows had no curtains at all. I´ve never experienced this in an hotel ever. There is no way to block the views from the street in the nighttime, so privacy is terrible. The reception lady was friendly upon check-in, but throughout my stay I felt myself more and more unwelcome..... maybe because I didn’t use their restaurant (or because I spoke english as other reviewers have stated).. The receptionists couldn’t tell me anything about the wildlife in the forests nearby.. however, I found out myself. I also found it a bit strange that it was not possible to buy any snacks like nuts or chips in the evening. There are ups and downs about staying in this hotel. If you´re more lucky than me with the service, and if you can stand no curtains in your room this could be a good stay..

    Fantastic view

Stayed here for five nights in a twin room (we had to pull the two beds apart!) in late September. The room was spacious with a good amount of storage and a small balcony. The view across the valley, including the old castle, was very impressive and lovely to wake up to every morning. The hotel staff were all very friendly (have written a separate restaurant review - also positive), and there's a nice bar area where people do go and relax with a drink before dinner. There's also a lovely terrace, which I imagine is very popular in the summer though we only got to enjoy a drink on it on our first evening at this time of yearBreakfasts were relatively good value for France with a decent choice, especially of breads and pastries. Parking is either street parking outside or up a steep ramp to a public car park across the hotel (note that if you have low ground clearance, coming out of that car park will likely scrape your car). In September we were able to park on the street every time, never more than 30m away from the hotel. The only issue we had was that the hot water in the room/shower was sometimes tepid and on one occasion ice cold. We did report this to the front desk and it seemed ok again later that day.
