    2 weeks in Cala D’or

    rating10 Jul 2019

We stayed at sol naixent apartments for two weeks . No kettle so had to use a pot to boil water ( no biggy but would’ve thought there’d be a kettle ) Had to pay 22€ per person for 2 weeks of WiFi ... a must for teenagers ! Cleaned and beds stripped every 3 days fresh towels. Would’ve liked a washing machine too but there’s a wee laundrette for all everyone to use at a nearby apartment so we sat there n had a wee drink while clothes were washed/dried. Wee chicks and hens everywhere around us so the kids bought bread every day to feed them . We enjoyed our walks into Cala D’or every day. Plenty good places to eat , reasonably priced too. Kids in pool every night. Staff helpful too

Apartment was clean and tidy. However had to ask for clean towels and apartments to be cleaned after 5days A few sleepless nights from a party in nextflat and furniture being scrapped across floors of other apartments during various stages of the night.People not always quiet in te stairwell either on route to airport during the night. Not a lot of hot water and lack of dishes to accommodate a family of 4

    Fantastic

We booked this apartment for a cheap family getaway. We never expected it to be so nice. 7 of us stayed and there was more than enough room, 2 large bathrooms and a utility room with washing machine. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of equipment to cook for a whole family. A spar shop next door and the use of 7 pools at the nearby playa ferrera apartments. Beautiful area with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. I would definitely return.

Spotlessly clean apartments, quiet area, recommended

The apartment we stayed in (BAC) - owned by nearby Playa Ferrera Hotel, where you check in and check out - had four flights of stairs up to it (no lift). You can use the swimming pools at the Playa Ferrera. There is a free car park nearby, but we were able to park our hire car usually on the road at the front, where we could see the car from the apartment. It was a two-bedroom apartment, quite spacious & spotlessly clean. The wardrobes smelt very musty, so I bought a gel air-freshener to help! There was a main bedroom with two single beds, a small room with one single bed, and the sofas in the living room could be made up as beds. There was air conditioning in the main bedroom & living room - but we think you could only use one at a time as there was only one remote control. That was fine for us, as we didn't really use the living room. The air con was very efficient & it was great having a remote control for it! There are blankets in the cupboard if you need them, and a couple of extra pillows. The kitchen was very small, but had a two ring hob and an oven - so we were able to cook pizza! Neither of the hobs got terribly hot, so we couldn't boil water for tea, but we used the microwave to do that until we got around to asking about hiring a kettle. The utensils were very limited, and no decent sharp knife or scissors. Large fridge with a nice sized freezer compartment. You need to ask to borrow a kettle and a hairdryer (there is usually a refundable deposit to hire these, but the lady on reception didn't ask us to pay one). Fresh towels and beds made every 2 - 3 days. There is a balcony with a table/chairs, and a clothes airer that pulls out of the wall to hang a few things on. Our view was pleasant, both from the balcony on the front - over a golf course - and the kitchen, looking down on a turning circle/small roundabout, & from which we could see hens & cockerels roaming about. Nice view of sunset! The decor is very dated, but we didn't mind that at all, as the price was so good & it was so clean. The beds were very hard: I like a firm mattress, but woke up with backache most mornings, & my hubby's bed squawked (not squeaked!) horribly whenever he turned over. Because he was struggling with the hard mattress, he tossed & turned quite a lot, so I did wonder what the neighbours downstairs made of the noise! The cupboard door under kitchen sink didn't close properly, there was a cable sticking out of the bathroom wall near the bidet, and the base of the bath was very worn (but it did mean it was non-slip!). There wasn't a lot of noise; at night you hear the odd car go past, but it's a quiet neighbourhood, and you couldn't hear everything from the adjoining apartments (unlike some hotels, where you can hear people just talking!) - except for the loo flushing in the middle of the night! Overall, we thought this was a great, cheap place to stay - just don't expect four star accommodation and you won't be too disappointed.
