Have low expectations and you won't be disappointed!

Our stay at Coronado Apartments in Málaga, Spain was mixed. The biggest advantage of this property is its excellent location in the heart of the historic center. Many of Málaga’s beautiful landmarks, restaurants, and nightlife are within easy walking distance, which made exploring the city very convenient.Unfortunately, the accommodations themselves were disappointing in terms of comfort, amenities, and overall inconveniences of our stay. While the apartment includes a kitchen with basic cookware and utensils, there were none of the simple items that make cooking practical—no salt, pepper, sugar or even a roll of paper towels. There was dish soap available, but the sponge provided was spoiled and worn, along with a used cleaning rag.The living room furniture was also quite worn and somewhat dirty, and the sofa converts into a bed. The bathroom amenities were minimal as well. For our two-night stay, each guest was provided only one small packets of shower gel and shampoo, along with one bath towel and one hand towel for the entire stay. There is a washer/dryer in the unit, but it is a European-style combination washer and dryer in a single machine rather than the separate North American-style units many travelers from North America may expect. No detergent was provided, and the instructions were not available in English, which made it difficult to understand how to operate. The loft bedroom also includes access to what is described as an outdoor terrace. However, the terrace is enclosed by four very high walls, so there is no view beyond the walls, which made the space feel more like a small enclosed courtyard than an open terrace.During our stay, I accidentally spilled coffee in the bed. I immediately rinsed the bedding, pulled the bed away from the wall, and cleaned up the spill. While doing so, I noticed that the area under and behind the bed was very dirty. I contacted the receptionist to inform management and request fresh bedding. The instructions posted on the bathroom wall stated that changing bedding was a free service if requested through reception, which is exactly what I did. However, after returning to Canada, I received an invoice for €170. When I questioned the charge and referred to the posted instructions stating the bedding change was free, management revised the invoice online to reflect a two-night stay instead and told me I had misunderstood. The charge was then processed on my credit card without my approval. For reference, the charge was in Euros. At approximately 1.85 with currency exchange, €170 equals about $314.50 CAD, making the unexpected charge even more concerning. In addition, the apartment we stayed in has some safety concerns. The loft bedroom has no handrails on the stairs leading up to it, and the loft itself has open access to the floor below. This setup could be unsafe and unsuitable for families with young children. The stairs leading to the loft are hardwood and quite slippery when wearing socks, which could pose a fall risk.Another inconvenience occurred on the morning of checkout when the shower had no hot water, multiple apartments share the same hot water heater, which may have contributed to the lack of hot water at that time.Because of these experiences, I recommend that future guests carefully review all policies, charges, amenities, and safety considerations before booking or during their stay.

Comfortable accommodation, Conveniently located at the city center and at a very good price. The receptionist was extremely helpful. The room had only one window though to the internal courtyard! Good to rest after long walks. I would stay here again for sure.

    Just Don't Go

    rating25 Sept 2022

We were booked for 2 weeks, we stayed 2 nights. We risked losing our money and points but after 2 nights we didn't care, we just booked something in Fuengerola and left. We had informed the resort of mobility issues and booked a scooter to be delivered to the apartment which it was.We were booked into garden room 3 in the Coronado. When we arrived by taxi, we had to check in at the Playa Real, about 500yrds down the road. Luckily the taxi waited and dropped us off outside the Coronado but it was now dark and we had no idea where Gdn Romm 3 was. Anyway, a bit of searching and we found the security gate. We were given 3 keys, one which unlocked the outside security gate. Followed along the path to nearly the furthest apartment. You then had to unlock another security door covering the apartment door, then find the key for the apartment. For security we were advised to lock both these doors once inside. First problem, no air conditioning which was booked. The windows wouldn't open. The curtains wouldn't even draw back, so no daylight inside. I left the freezer door open all night to try and cool things down. The sofa bed had nasty stains on it. The bed was a so called double, thinnest mattress ever, couldn't move once on it otherwise all the sheets came off the bed. The telephone didn't work so when we needed anything from reception, we had to walk down there. Our room was very near the steps to the pool except we couldn't use them with a mobility scooter. if you could use them, don't try the hand rail, it's covered in bird poo and the paths are not cleared. To get to the pool, we had to negotiate out of the security gate, right round the hotel, up a hill (which the scooter didn't manage) and in to a closed down Coronado reception area. Totally unmanageable. There were 2 bars/restaurants open, one opposite which belonged to a camp site which was ok, the other Papillon, down away past the Heritage Real reception. They only did breakfast till 12noon and no snacks on Sundays. We couldn't manage with this limitation. All the other shops, cafes, bars, hairdressers were closed/shut down. Even the tavern by the pool was shut down. No decent facilities whatsoever. Please message me if you feel the need to go to this place, I would love to save you your money. RCI gave us a full refund of money and points for which I thank them.If I could I would have given Zero rating

Central and comfortable flats but very noisy

    rating26 Jul 2021

Very cool apartments right in the centre of " Málaga histórico". Pretty modern and very clean. Be careful if you are a tall person as top floor bedroom is located in a loft with limited space. Great rooftop terrace to catch up the sun with incredible privacy! All great bit there is a small but...Remember you are right in the centre of things, so at 2 or 3am most night we got woken up by drunken groups who had no consideration for others. All in all, still a great place to stay in central Málaga.

Two weeks in Malaga in September

We had a great stay in September. Our studio with its terrace had everything we needed. Terrace was excellent for sunbathing. Kitchen equipment was good. We got great help from the personnel in some practical arrangements.
