Location

This hotel is located in the traditional Spanish village of Competa, nestled in the mountains and set at 638 m above sea level. Guests will find the Iglesia de la Asuncion and the Paseo de las Tradiciones 500 m away and it is 800 m to Plaza de la Vendimia and 1 km to the Parque Natural de las Sierras Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama. Cruz del Monte is 2 km and Cruz de Sarja is 3 km. It lies 18 km from the coast, 19 km from Ingenio and its shops, 20 km from Torre del Mar and its beach and 50 km from Malaga, in the heart of the Axarquia, Costa del Sol. Malaga Airport is 60 km away.

Facility

32 non-smoking rooms, including 24 double rooms, are located on 2 storeys and can be reached by 2 lifts. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The bungalow complex has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     They make reservation, but no room and refund!

    Very disappointing experience at Hotel y Bungalows Balcón de Cómpeta.We arrived with a confirmed reservation through Booking.com, but when we got there there was nobody at the property to check us in. No staff, no instructions, and no way to access the room.We were left waiting outside with three children, trying to contact someone for help, but nobody responded. After traveling with kids, this was extremely stressful and unacceptable.Because the property never responded, Booking.com later closed the case and we were left without a refund and without accommodation that night.A hotel that accepts reservations should at the very least ensure someone is available for check-in or provide clear instructions. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.

    What a wonderfull place. Forget any bad reviews about the pool. We stayed 5 nights and noticed it being tested daily. Just a fabulous holiday and thanks to everyone .We used to go to Competa 30 + years ago and remember Franquelos bar in town. He set up this hotel . Hope they can keep the tradition going

    Lovely setting but tired hotel

    It is getting very tired. Surprised to find the restaurant was closed in the evening as was the bar when we returned at 10pm. The room was large with lovely views but the towels were threadbare and generally the atmosphere was past its sell by date. The staff were very welcoming and it was a good value stay with a continental breakfast but would need modernising before we would revisit

    From the minute, we checked in we were given a warm welcome by all the staff. We stayed for the week with our friends and couldn’t fault our experience. Lovely continental breakfast but with the added bonus of bacon and eggs if wanted. The hotel was spotless, with amazing housekeeping staff. The hotel pool was a bonus with a brilliant bar and fantastic G&Ts! We didn’t make use of the tennis court but it’s free for hotel guests. The central location for the village is great and the views from the balcony and terrace are stunning. Will definitely be back!

    Lovely Spanish traditional hotel.Welcoming, super clean and accommodating. The lady who owns it (apologies I didn’t ask) is super friendly, speaks excellent English and is wonderfully helpful.Rooms are comfortable and the toiletries and towels plentiful.Breakfast is continental and there’s lots of it.Would go back.
