    ANOTHER MEMORABLE STAY

    rating23 Jun 2019

Not long back from this gorgeous Spanish hide away. Our second stay and equally enjoyable as the first in 2011. Thankfully nothing has changed, Same breathtaking view over the valley below, same wonderful chorus of bird song to wake up to, same tastefully manicured gardens and surroundings of Casas de Montejaque, same cheap as chips prices for food and drink in the village....simply beautiful. Thank you Cristobal and your staff for another wonderfully relaxing stay in your Andalucian accomodation. Hope to see you and Montejaque on a more regular basis. Janet and Paul Taylor, Belfast.

    Great base for visiting Andalucia

    rating05 Nov 2017

Montajaque is a small village with 2 little supermarkets and 4 small bars. The village is right in the center to visit Sevilla (1.5 hours), the white villages, the coast and even Alhambra (2.5 hours).Casas de Montajaque has about 10 little houses and a nice pool for a day of rest or as a base to visit all you want to see. Staff is all family and very helpful. Most guests are Dutch in tourist season (april-september).

It’s a great place! Isabelle is a great host, she picked us up late in the evening and arranged some roses for our wedding anniversary. She was always available when needed via whatsapp. I really recommand Casas de Montejaque!!

    Beautiful house!

    rating04 Sept 2017

We stayed at Case de Montejaque for a week at the end of August 2017. Casas de Montejaque own both a selection of flats at a central location based around a swimming pool, and houses scattered throughout the village. We stayed in one of the latter and it was absolutely beautiful. It was also extremely well furnished and equipped, with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. There was even wireless internet, to our surprise! The beds were very comfortable. We had a small back yard and a terrace with beautiful views over the mountains. We particularly enjoyed watching the griffon vultures circling above the rocks from our terrace. It was a short walk from our house down to the pool, and our route could take us through the town square where our son liked to run through the fountain. The pool was very pleasant: clean, big enough to swim, and surprisingly deep at the deep end. It was never too busy and we enjoyed swimming every afternoon. The only downside was that driving down the narrow streets was a bit challenging, since we are not used to it. We would advise simply parking on the wider streets and walking. The village is pretty small (although very lovely) so it's never far to walk. Overall, we would recommend both the location and the accomodation. We had a great family holiday.

Added bonus of a pool and wonderful views

    rating12 Aug 2017

These apartments are situated not far from the village square in an ideal location. Close enough to restaurants, bars, supermarkets, bank and bakers yet far enough to enjoy the peace and tranquillity. When we arrived we were greeted by Abigail who offered us the choice of 2 accommodations. The first was a 2 bedroomed house in the village. This was absolutely beautifully decorated and had everything we would have needed except there was nowhere outside to sit. The second option was apartment number 1. Much smaller with literally just a fridge for the kitchen. On top of the fridge was a kettle, coffee percolator, grill and 1 ring burner. There was a little table and chairs set out with crockery, 2 seats & coffee table. The beds were 2 singles pushed together which were so light that they actually moved as you turned over. The bathroom was built into the rock and made a lovely feature. We chose this one for our weeks stay because it provided everything we needed plus the added bonus of our own little seating area which was well secluded but gave great views. The pool is not heated but that was fine and the garden is very well maintained. Only criticism would be that many of the sun loungers were broken and could have done with replacing. A small drinks / snack area would have also being an added bonus. I know the hotel is small but I've stayed in similar sized accomodations that have had this facility. I am being picky though!! Also need to point out that every accommodation seems completely different. One room of someone we befriended had 1 bedroom but 2 bathrooms. Very strange! Montajaque village itself is a very slow pace. We visited on the only week of the year when the village parties and when I say party I mean party! Starting any time from 7 onwards depending on events the whole village meets in the square and party till about 6 in the morning. The stage and speakers are up. The streets are decorated with flags, street lights and candles. There was entertainment from flamenco and belly dancers, flame throwers, brass band, harpists and religious celebrations. The whole affair was great to witness though we did feel as the week went on as though we were intruding. Montajaque is predominantly Spanish. Only Abigail spoke good English though we had no problem at all communicating. We did have a few encounters with traditional bar owners who completely ignored us but we just turned around and took our money elsewhere after giving them chance to acknowledge us.The villages narrow steep streets are spotlessly clean and the accomodations are of superb standards. Casas de montejaque apartments are no exception and I would recommend it to anyone wishing for a very very very quiet holiday location. I last thing ..... You need a car. Taxi is on average €150 from the airport one way so rental is much cheaper
