  Great last day to end our holiday on a good note ??

  This was our last stay for one night from our mini first tour of the south of Spain. We arrived around midday early for check in but no problem and had a lazy day as we were quite exhausted from our last few stops in Cádiz, Seville and Cordoba and all the steps we did… so we needed this time to relax and decided to discover a bit of the city in the evening… we had a smack in the outside Terrace restaurant for lunch which was just what we needed and had a swim in the good size pool! The views and location made it very peaceful and quiet. The rooms are very comfortable plenty of room and the bed was comfortable, although it was two singles pushed together, which was the only downside for us! We could’ve asked to have it changed, but it wasn’t an issue enough to put anybody to any trouble! There was everything that we needed in the rooms! Nice to have the toilet sectioned off from the bathroom! Breakfast was in the upper level, restaurant which gave the best views from the hotel and we were greeted by a very friendly Pablo, who looked after us very well and was very attentive! Breakfast was nice. There was everything that we needed and any hot food that you want you have to have to order but that makes sure that it’s fresh made specially for you! that was a nice touch. Coffee was good and apparently it was the best cup of tea from the whole trip.!The only comment I would make if I was being pickywas to make the hedges a little bit lower to take more of the Viewing from the Pool area!   Fantastic Parador in wonderful Antequera

  A modern parador, spotlessly clean with very friendly, helpful staff. We stayed here for 11 days ( in fact as I write this we are still here, leaving in two days time). It's SO peaceful and relaxing, very quiet and hushed. The grounds are good and there's a pool but it was too cold for me, and others who tried it gasped in shock when first entering the cold water. No matter, the position and mountain views are amazing, breakfast is superb too. However you need to boil the small kettle if you'd like a cup of tea at breakfast. Coffee is much more the Spanish way of life. Rooms are excellent, large, with a strong shower and nice bathroom.The parador is approx 5-10 mins from centre of town ...which is amazing. Lots to see. Great places to eat (try the bullring, arte de tapas and recuerdos bodega tapas near the parador. You can eat at the parador although it's a little more pricey than in town but if breakfast is anything to go by, the food will be amazing We came without a car and used local buses and trains to get around, visited Cordoba, and the local tour company Tour Group del Dolmenes, in the old square, run by Deborah (it's the only place in town you can buy postcards) and we went on two tours, the Dolmenes and el Torcal. Don't miss either! Antequera is a wonderful place and I hope that if you're reading this you enjoy it as much as I have.   Awful, just awful.

  This is the second worst Parador I have stayed in. I would demolish it and start again. The car park has two charging points for electric vehicles, both were out of service. The public areas are a crazy mix, lots of half floors and big spaces with crazy uncomfortable furniture. There is only one room with a balcony, the Junior Suite. Inside our room all the woodwork was black, when you opened the wardrobe you couldn’t see anything. The rooms are not generously proportioned, two people could not occupy the same space. One night I woke to find that all the electricity was off, no lights and no charging for phones and watches etc. I went to reception and spoke to the night porter. He said there was at least one switch in the room that turned the electricity off. He came with me and identified the switch. I’ve never come across this in a hotel before and the switch was not labeled to say what it did. The bar/cafeteria near the swimming pool was a joke. I think the waiters were playing hide and seek with the guests. One night I asked for some olives with our aperitif. The waiter said they had none. I pointed out that they were in the middle of millions of olive trees and it was ridiculous that they had no olives. He gave us nuts AND crisps to assuage our disappointment then he turned up a few minutes later with some black olives he had obviously scrounged up from the kitchen. The management of this Parador need a boot up the backside, it’s failing in many ways which is a shame because I genuinely love Paradors but not when they are run like this.   Disappointing service

  Accomodation was first class, the majority of the reception sataf were helpful and friendly aswere the bar staff, however, tried to book evening meal in restaurant and it was fully booked on both nights, despite nobody turning up on one night for the first hour it was open. Also breakfast staff were surly and unhelpful.   A joy for us

  This was a trial run of staying away from home since my husband needed to transport breathing equipment and a mobility scooter so I approached it with some trepidation. This Parador was a revelation. Staff were super helpful and friendly; the building was carefully designed to be super accessible without detracting from the design and our accessible bedroom felt no different from a normal well-appointed Parador bedroom. We would previously have chosen a more traditional Parador but felt this would be more likely to meet our needs now. Having previously been unimpressed by a couple of ‘modern’ Paradors this was a well-designed joy with excellent facilities, great food and pleasant poolside terrace bar with stunning views. To be balanced I better note a couple of things: my husband would have liked a more cosy bar area ( a personal quirk) and while the town centre is an easy walk away, users of mobility aids should be aware that not all pavements which start with a ramp end with a ramp!
