Location

The hotel is situated on the Paseo García del Olmo in a beautiful gardened area of Antequera, only a few minutes from the city centre and the old town. There is a bus and train station about 200 metres from the hotel. It is approximately 50 km from Málaga and its beach, 100 km from Granada, 150 km from Sevilla and 122 km from Córdoba. Málaga Airport is about 45 km from the hotel.

Facility

4 junior suites, 5 single rooms and 52 double rooms are located on 2 storeys and can be reached by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Services such as a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden.     A joy for us

    This was a trial run of staying away from home since my husband needed to transport breathing equipment and a mobility scooter so I approached it with some trepidation. This Parador was a revelation. Staff were super helpful and friendly; the building was carefully designed to be super accessible without detracting from the design and our accessible bedroom felt no different from a normal well-appointed Parador bedroom. We would previously have chosen a more traditional Parador but felt this would be more likely to meet our needs now. Having previously been unimpressed by a couple of ‘modern’ Paradors this was a well-designed joy with excellent facilities, great food and pleasant poolside terrace bar with stunning views. To be balanced I better note a couple of things: my husband would have liked a more cosy bar area ( a personal quirk) and while the town centre is an easy walk away, users of mobility aids should be aware that not all pavements which start with a ramp end with a ramp! A huge shout out and thank you to the staff who were outstanding.

    We have hotels like this in UK with names like Premier Inn or Travelodge where our expectations are relatively low before we go through the door but here in Antequerra the comparable level of service comes as quite a disappointment. The restaurant food and service is fine, even surprisingly good for a paradore, but the rest of it is pretty dire. Lovely summer evening when we arrived but the garden bar remained firmly closed and alternatively drinks were offered occasionally by a largely invisible barman who managed to serve us in a sort of open sided windowless lounge reminiscent of our local doctor’s waiting room. Paradore in name certainly but that’s as far as it goes.     We arrived early and were fortunate enough to be able to check in. The hotel and room furnishings were more modern than most Paradors we’ve stayed at. The building shows its age, but appears well maintained. Parking at this Parador was free and it had EV charging points. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was fairly standard. While some Paradors provide complimentary bottles of water in the rooms, this one didn’t. However, having a safe in a room that isn’t affixed to anything, defeats the purpose of having a safe. A thief would just walk off with it. In the bathroom the commode area was somewhat separated from the sink and shower area which was nice, but I’m not a big fan of frosted glass bathroom walls. The mattress was firmer than my wife prefers, but that’s no fault of the hotel.Walking to the center of the town was pleasant and fairly level.     Was a little disappointed when we arrived to find that the pool wasn’t open, apparently it doesn’t open until mid May.We did sit out though in the hotels ground until our room was ready.The room was large, spotless and very comfortable, absolutely no complaints.It took us 10 minutes to walk into town where we had a lovely meal and drinks.Breakfast was ok, a buffet and a couple of choice if you want something cooked.Would stay again 😀 Director Parador de Antequera, General Manager at Parador de Antequera, responded to this review Dear Dotty5200Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for your kind comments about your stay.
