  Great location but 5 stars is pushing it!

  The hotel is in a great location and the views are fabulous. The amenities in general are all very good and all beautifully clean throughout. We stayed in a junior suite so with sea view and could use the ‘level’ which was a nice area, tapas and drinks for you to help yourself and while there is a decent size premium for this facility it is most probably worth it.I question whether it’s a five star hotel in the title and predominantly it’s down to the food. The mosaic restaurant is self service which is fine and the food was tasty enough, but just too cold most of the time unless you timed a dish being replaced to perfection! That’s a pity and of course it’s a large hotel so you do feel it’s a bit like a canteen rather than an experience.We tried the Italian restaurant as it’s à la carte so must be better? Not really, the main dish served was just about warm at best.So overall a lovely stay but the dining experience needs improving I would suggest. Then it’s maybe a 5 star hotel.

  Amazing setting, incredible views, great hotel.

  Hotel is set in the bay of Cala Galdana and has amazing views, could sit and look at them all day! There isn't a lot in the general area, some nice, but difficult walks. Very few shops, several restaurants and bars. Some pedalos on the beach and sun beds/umbrellas for hire. Hotel has direct access, via slope or steps, to the beach.The hotel has a special section, called "The Level", which you pay quite a lot more for, but it does give you loads of perks and the best rooms /views.Our Level room was nicely decorated, with mirrors everywhere, to give a feeling of space and light, and a totally incredible view. It had a chiller/mini bar, [which we found useful for storing fresh milk], loads of clothes storage space, open bath in the room, [but you could screen it for privacy with a curtain.] shower, two sinks, plus an enclosed toilet, with a sink, twin beds, sofa, chairs, coffee table and furnished large balcony. There were also Ritual toiletries for use, very nice. Coffee machine, with capsules topped up daily, kettle, also with fresh daily supplies, plenty of glasses and plenty of towels, plus slippers and dressing gown. There's a free large safe as well. Plus hairdryer. The room even has a yoga mat!There was a night time turn down service, when they would empty bins, change towels, replenish supplies, and leave chocolates on the pillow. Excellent cleaning and very efficient. Very health conscience, they supply plenty of free bottled water, in the room. The Level gives you access to a private infinity pool, where Noemy would look after you amazingly well, making sure you drank plenty of chilled water, helped with pillows / cushions, and even came round with sticks of fresh fruit.The Level also gives you access to a private dining room, where we had brilliant service from Sandi, who would make me special Cappuccino de-caff coffee. Really good selection of hot and cold breakfast items available, and they will do anything extra to order. Breakfast is available till 11.00. Then at midday, they offer soft drinks, beers, wine, [all help yourself], and tapas type items, with fresh fruit, crisps, nuts, cakes etc. The selection and quantity change during the afternoon and then at 6 o'clock, there is a full open bar with cocktails available, again free, until 7.The hotel has a large classic buffet restaurant, speciality restaurants, and also you can get light meals and snacks at the reception bar area. The hotel grounds are large, with a childrens creche and play area, a main swimming pool, and daytime activities, plus a gym and spa treatments. The only disappointment, was the evening entertainment, which is difficult, with so many naltionalities / languages. Singers seemed to be the main focus. We had hoped to see what was billed as a Flamenco show, but was merely a man playing a Spanish guitar. Maybe a magician, or acrobats, as language is not a problem, with them We were there late September, early October, so maybe there is more interesting entertainment in high season. A beautiful hotel, in an amazing location, definitely worth a visit.

  Fabulous hotel amazing views. Most staff were excellent. Reasonably clean. 2 problems for us were:Food covered in flies and wasps on our first day. Nothing was covered. Cafe staff said nothing could be done it was fly season and they are trying to cater for a lot of guests. The cafe was massive however flies were minimal from the next day. Food was of a very poor quality. We ate desserts for dinner most nights. This hotel is not suitable for disabled people and we were unable to leave the hotel to get to the beach unless by taxi.

  We stayed on The Level and really enjoyed it. All the staff were great but the one who really went thr extra mile was Dani. He took most of the fitness classes which were excellent. He also engaged with guests in The Level, always smiling. This young man will go far.Enjoyed the Italian restaraunt.We will be back and we hooe all the staff enjoy there well deserved winter break.

  Just home from a wonderful stay at the Meliá Cala Galdana! The location is just breathtaking and the views from the bedrooms, public areas and Mosaico dining room are fabulous. Turquoise waters and white sandy beach …. just like the marketing photos! We arrived on an early flight and therefore our room wasn’t ready, but we were offered a complimentary drink while waiting, which was very welcome. The receptionist told us she would phone when our room was ready, but in the end I had to go to the desk at 3.00 to see if it was ready. I have seen this mentioned on other reviews. The room itself on the 5th floor was really lovely and contained Rituals products as standard. Every day we were there, our room was cleaned and towels etc replaced…two lovely chambermaids! Food, at breakfast and dinner, was of a varied and very good standard. Some dinner plates are getting a little worn, as was the white paintwork under the banquette seating …but small gripes. Service in the restaurant and around the hotel generally was excellent. Have to mention Jota who took the Pilates class I went to…thoroughly professional and talented guy! This is a relaxing hotel, therefore evening entertainment is of a very laid back chilled standard…we would have liked one night of a bit more life! Apart from this we loved our stay at the Meliá Cala Caldana! Oh yes there’s a lot of plastic waste as water bottles are replenished in the rooms every day….dont get me wrong it was great to get it, but water dispensers on each floor would be more environmentally friendly! We’ll be back!!
