  Beautiful hotel with fantastic view over the harbour. Lovely friendly helpful staff. Peaceful pool area with plenty of free sunbeds and towels. Outside seating for drinks and food etc. Rooms were spotless. Plenty of towel and bedding changes. Mini fridge with water. Lockable safe. Most importantly large walk in shower and excellent hairdrier.   Lovely return visit

  My second visit.Overall, I had a really lovely time here.This hotel has come under the Senator umbrella since my first visit 12 months ago.Positives firstMany long serving lovely staff still thereI felt the quality and choice of food has improvedHotel very cleanWe had a lovely sunny harbour view, in the new blockNegativesI had to pay to use the room safe, free last yearRoom was extremely basic considering the extortionate price paidThe comfortable sofa seating on the patio has been replaced with uncomfortable cheap plastic dining tables and chairs. I had particularly enjoyed sitting here after a day out and about. The deck chairs and round beds are no longer there. The whole patio area is rather sparse and it’s an opportunity missed to create a lovely relaxing space.There is nobody keeping an eye on the pool area during the day. If umbrellas blow over, they’re left. Loungers all over the place and only tidied up at night time.I felt the check-out experience was rather unfriendly, staff should remember we are paying customers and without our custom, they have no job.   Lovely staff, hotel needs improvement

  We have been coming to this beautiful hotel for 26 years so have many fond memories. The staff haven't changed at all and are all absolutely lovely. They can't do enough for you and we can't fault them ?? We hold a deep affection for them .The location is fabulous and both the city of Mahon and the port road are easily walkable to. Unfortunately,the atmosphere was poor because there were rarely any tables set outside for breakfast or lunch. No staff were operating around the pool area, so we had to go to the bar ourselves. The soft sofas and cabanas have been replaced with cheap plastic chairs, which is a shame because we loved sitting comfortably there, admiring the views. We rarely drank I the evening there as a consequence.The room was clean although the sliding wardrobe doors continuously jammed. Obviously a man designed the room because there was a TV over the dressing table, not a mirror!!Basic complementary items like a shower cap weren't available unless asked for.The most annoying thing was NO daily bottles of water in the fridge as there used to be in a 'superior' room . We would have expected complimentary water in a four star hotel.Recommendations to improve would be maybe have a barbecue area and bring back soft sofas and allow staff to serve around the pool. Inside the lobby is wasted space. What about a spa?   The hotel is in a great location overlooking the harbour, and walking distance into town.All staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.Our room was really clean and well equipped, the beds super comfy.We felt there was plenty of choice on offer for breakfast to suit all tastes.We enjoyed the pool area, it was clean and well maintained , (limited reserving of beds (??) too!)……. there was enough space for all.We would love to return to the hotel and enjoyed our much needed holiday there.
