  Lovely September Getaway

  We stayed in mid-September when we thought that the tourist season would be winding down but the resort of Cala Galdana was as busy as high season. However, the villa is located at the edge of the resort and was relatively peaceful, particularly in the evening and early morning. It’s only an 8-minute walk to the centre of the resort, the beach and some of the restaurants and the walk back up to the villa is not too steep, unlike some parts of the resort. The villa itself is compact but the large outside area and pool means that it does not feel cramped and the view over to the other side of the gorge are spectacular. The facilities in the villa are adequate, particularly if you are eating out in the evening. The only down-side is that during the middle of the day (from 11 to 5) beach goers park along both sides of the road so it can be challenging to park near the villa. Added to that, the steps up to the villa from the road will make you sweat if you are carrying luggage or shopping.We would recommend a boat trip from the marina around the local beaches. The 4-hour trips are more than enough and there are quite a few boats available in the resort at reasonable prices if you are willing to share.You will need to reserve a table in most of the good restaurants, even in September, particularly if you want to eat after 7.30.

  These villas are situated in the most beautiful, quiet area but not too far from the town. Would go back tomorrow if I could. There is a dishwasher and washing machine so take tablets with you to save money. The only negative thing I have to say is that we didn't have a cleaner for the whole 2 weeks, which is badly needed, with a family of five. Or at least provide a broom so we can sweep up. There was a dustpan but no brush!Also take fly spray and ant powder as they are a real pest. Otherwise Ive had the best 2 week's holiday and can't wait to go back.

  We stayed here as a family of 5, the villa was all we wanted and more! We had read some negative reviews prior to our stay but we could honestly not find fault. We have 2 teenage children (one 15 and one 19) and they absolutely loved every minute. The villa was clean, the pool was also very clean and well maintained. The villa had everything we needed although we did take some of our own BBQ tongs! They did have some there.The only thing we found was that we could have done with a broom to sweep as this was not provided. Also something to clean the BBQ would have helped as this is something we used daily. The cleaner came in after one week during our 2 week stay although only changed bedding. The towels were changed Wednesday and Saturday.There were pool towels also provided.The local resort is a 10 minute walk away and had everything that we needed. We also used MSH menorca (found on Facebook) for our food delivery and this was delivered on the specified day and they have amazing communication, the food delivered was also very good quality.All in all we will most definitely book again! We stayed in villa 5 with amazing views of the beautiful greenery. Plus we had daily visits from the geese.

  We stayed in Villa 4. The villa is much better than the photos. They do not do it any justice at all. The villa is large enough for a family. There were 5 of us. The garden was huge and not overlooked. The villa was cleaned during our weeks stay and garden mowed etc. The pool was perfect and the bbq was used by us a lot. You can walk to Cala Galdana beach in 10-15 minutes. Villa 4 has an allocated parking spot, so you don’t need to worry about parking. The resort has a great selection of places to eat/shop and the beach is beautiful.

  Prior to coming I was very sceptical about coming here due to the mixed bag of reviews, particularly regarding the “very uncomfortable beds”. We stayed in villa number 10 and I have to say the beds are very comfortable, we’ve had a good nights sleep every night so I’m not sure what everyone else’s reviews meant by very uncomfortable, unless they have changed mattresses. The villas are perfect for families I’d say, the pool area is absolutely stunning, it’s so quiet and peaceful and you are overlooking all of the gorgeous mountains. The villa itself is very nice and clean. We have stayed as two adults and one toddler and if you are staying with a toddler it’s not ideal as the floor is VERY slippy when wet, but we’ve been using our sons grippy socks for inside and he’s not slipped with these on, so if you’re coming with a toddler bring grip socks! There’s a few steps my son has had to get used to but other than this it’s been very ideal for us. The villas are about a ten minute walk to Cala galdana where there is a lovely collection of shops and restaurants, the toboggan restaurant in particular is absolutely perfect for families with small children, it has a lovely playground and tables around it so you can enjoy a meal and watch your little one play. There is also a separate playground in Cala galdana opposite the shops, so again for small children this place is ideal, there’s so much to keep them entertained. The villas are on top of a steep hill so for those with mobility issues this could definitely be a problem, but not for us. It is definitely a work out getting up the hill with a pushchair but we don’t mind this, as the villas being high up adds to the beauty of the views. I’d have liked a bath in our villa but ours had two showers, I suppose you can’t have it all! The kitchen facilities are fab, lovely clean new kitchen with a washing machine and dish washer. We hired a car for our holiday and I don’t regret doing this as I think without the car we’d have been a bit bored in just Cala galdana, things like Menorca zoo and Menorca sur water park are about a 30 minute drive. Overall we’ve had a very lovely stay and I would definitely recommend staying here. The beach in Cala galdana is about a 10 minute walk also, and it has lovely crystal clear waters. It’s not my favourite beach just because it’s quite small and it was busy when we went so I can assume in peak seasons it’s packed on there! Jet 2 were a bit of a pain regarding customer service, they failed to let us know that we had to pay euro tax at the airport so when we got to the villa we didn’t have our key code as we just assumed there would be someone at reception but there’s no one at the reception. Luckily we were able to ring them and get the key code, but jet 2 should have told us this at the airport! Also the coffee on the flight was utterly disgusting. We hired a car with record go and they were also quite rude at the airport. Other than this it’s been a perfect holiday and I don’t want to leave!
