  Ocean views alone cannot satisfy your hunger for absent comfort

  If not a beautiful Atlantic scenery, the hotel would stand in the same row of outworn, very average standard of 3star hotels. The food is not awful, but not good either. The smell of the pool detergents is overwhelming and unpleasant even in the reception area. The tiles, well, they must have been replaced some 7-10 years ago in the country which boasts of incredibly good tile industry. Unfortunately, the travellers cannot satisfy their hunger just by looking to the Ocean. Some kitchen staff reforms are very welcome. Adrián T A, Atención al cliente/recepción at Hotel Talaso Atlantico, responded to this review We regret not having met your expectations, but we are glad that you enjoyed the location and the fantastic views of the Atlantic.We would appreciate it if you could provide us with some details about your stay, as with the information you have provided we cannot know when you stayed or whether your comments are based on a real experience at Talaso Atlántico: the review was written on 4 February, when the hotel has been closed to the public since 11 January.The pool at the Thalassotherapy Centre contains seawater, extracted directly from the ocean, filtered, heated and treated only with chlorine in accordance with regulations, so it does not contain any other type of detergent or artificial chemical that emits an unpleasant odour.As for the food, we regret that our offering did not suit your tastes; it is a restaurant that is highly rated by our guests, both those staying at the hotel and those who are not, and in addition to the restaurant menu, there is a bar menu with tapas, sandwiches, salads and more informal dishes.During the weeks in January when the complex was closed to the public, maintenance work was carried out, including cosmetic work such as the repair of some tiles. If this is what you are referring to, you will be pleased to know that they have been replaced.Best regards.

  Beautiful views!

  Beautiful views, but a destination hotel, as there is nothing close by to do. Pool more for kids than adults. We canceled one night and hotel would not give us our money back, which was quite disappointing. Excellent breakfast and staff at breakfast was great!   Excellent place to stay near Baiona

  We stayed here for 2 nights whilst exploring the Baiona area. I thought that the hotel was excellent for the following reasons:1. Whilst it might appear slightly tired from the outside, the interior of the hotel is quite modern. Our room was large and light filled, with plenty of space and a large bathroom. We did not request or pay for a sea view room but our mountain view room had a balcony with a side view of the ocean.2. The position of the hotel opposite and close to the ocean is magnificent.3. I thought that it was very good value for money.4. They have both a restaurant (that opens at 9pm and offers a dégustation menu) and a café. We ate at the café one night and I would rate their menu offering as a true restaurant offering, it contained a good range of meals typically found in Portuguese restaurants. The café is open for dinner before 9pm (I think it is open pretty much all day).Breakfast was included in our room rate and was good.I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel if you have a car, as it would be difficult to access otherwise. Having said that, I think that there were some people using the hotel as a stop on the Portuguese Camino when we were there - so if you are doing that Camino and a stop here works for you in terms of timing, this would be a nice place to stay.We did not use the pool or spa facilities. The à la carte restaurant opens, effectively at 9:00 p.m.On future occasions, do not hesitate to enjoy our hot seawater spa as well as the various beauty, relaxation or even aesthetic medicine treatments.We will be glad to see you back again soon.   We stayed at the hotel for a family members retirement party. We rented a room within the hotel to hold the venue. The onshift manager, Noela was not friendly right from the beginning. There was no guest interaction at all and it made what was an exciting celebration quite disappointing and horrible. It then worsened when Noelas colleague decided to step in and be extremely rude and aggressive towards my family, she was out of order and both need to learn a lesson or two about hospitality. I DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE! Adrián Tojeiro Alonso, Atención al cliente/recepción at Hotel Talaso Atlantico, responded to this review ENG: We hoped not to have to respond to comments about what happened this Saturday night and we thought that, after having apologized yesterday, everything would be forgotten.The events have been very serious and it has upset us all tremendously, especially when you have insulted the aforementioned waitress with "scoundrel" and "bitch". In no case and under any circumstances, will we allow insults of this type towards our staff.First of all, you did not reserve a private room or rented a room to celebrate the event: you reserved a room night at the hotel (sleeping) with Half Board (dinner in the restaurant). You contacted us to indicate that you wanted to decorate the table since they were coming to celebrate a retirement and we offered you a private room at no cost, where you could decorate the room and enjoy the evening without disturbing the other diners. This kind of Events use to have special conditions but we thought that you just will have dinner and nothing else (as your reserved). In advance, they were told that the restaurant closed at midnight and that high music was not allowed. In addition to decorating with photocalls and balloons (authorized by the establishment), you put stickers on the dishes (which we had to remove ourselves) and used confetti cannons, something that is not allowed (you did not ask about it and when we realized it, the living room was full of small colored papers that we continue to clean to this day). Also, you brought your own drinks too without asking. A whole series of excesses of confidence that surprised us.The treatment by our staff was correct at all times, even when after 12:10 a.m. you were told that you had to leave the room, since the restaurant was closed. At that time, disqualifications and verbal attacks "scoundrel", "bitch" among others, followed one another.We regret that what should have been an endearing family celebration (and one more dinner service for us) ended up shouting at dawn in the hotel restaurant and we hope that the person whose retirement was celebrated enjoys it, since he will not have to suffer humiliating treatment for part of any of his clients.ESPAÑOL: Aguardábamos no tener que responder a comentarios sobre lo sucedido este sábado y pensábamos que, tras haberse disculpado en el día de ayer, todo quedaría en el olvido, pero vemos que no ha sido así.Los hechos han sido muy graves y nos ha disgustado a todos tremendamente, sobre todo cuando insultaron a la referida camarera con gritos de "sinvergüenza" y "zorra". En ningún caso y bajo ningún concepto, permitiremos insultos de ese tipo hacia nuestro personal.En primer lugar, ustedes no reservaron una habitación o salón privado para celebrar el evento: reservaron habitación (dormir en el hotel) con Media Pensión (cenar en el restaurante). Contactaron con nosotros para indicar que querían decorar la mesa ya que venían a celebrar una jubilación y les ofrecimos un salón privado sin coste, donde sí podrían decorar el salón y disfrutar de la velada sin molestar al resto de comensales. Eventos privados de este tipo suelen tener condiciones especiales (por uso y limpieza del salón, disponibilidad de un camarero en exclusiva…) pero dimos por hecho que simplemente querían cenar en una zona más privada y decidimos ofrecerles esta opción, aviándoles con antelación de que el restaurante cerraba a las 0h00 y que no estaba permitido poner música. Además de la decoración con photocall y globos (autorizada por el establecimiento), pusieron pegatinas en la vajilla (que tuvimos que retirar nosotros) y utilizaron cañones de confeti, algo que no está permitido (no preguntaron por ello y cuando nos dimos cuenta, ya estaba el salón lleno de pequeños papeles de colores que seguimos limpiando a día de hoy). Además, trajeron sus propias bebidas también sin haberlo consultado. Toda una serie de excesos de confianza que nos sorprendieron.El trato por parte de nuestro personal fue correcto en todo momento, incluso cuando a partir de las 00h10 se les indicó que debían abandonar ya el salón, pues el restaurante estaba cerrado. En ese momento, descalificaciones y agresiones verbales “sinvergüenza”, “zorra” entre otros, se sucedieron. No profundizaremos en más detalles. Lamentamos que lo que debía ser una entrañable celebración familiar (y un servicio de cenas más para nosotros) acabase a gritos de madrugada en el restaurante del hotel y deseamos que la persona cuya jubilación se celebraba la disfrute, pues no tendrá que sufrir trato vejatorio por parte de ninguno de sus clientes.
