    Good just for a sleep

    rating06 Oct 2021

The hotel is beautifully surrounded by nature with mountains, small waterfalls and rivers, it's quiet and isolated and you can hear the rain. The hotel rooms are clean and spacious as well. However, as you're walking around the hotel, there are clearly many things that need fixing and cleaning (especially the carpets along the hotel corridors). The restaurant staff are immensely helpful, hardworking and joyful. The food needs heavy improvement. It's bulk food that wasn't appetizing, Also, very little options for vegetarians/vegans. I wasn't looking forward to my next meal at the hotel. The spa facilities are a JOKE. Do not bother coming here if you're coming specifically for the spa. The "thermal" pools are either lukewarm or cold water, I wash my hands in warmer water than what the pools were. Not relaxing at all. Also, because of COVID almost half of the facilities were closed, which is fair enough and there is no problem with that but none of that was shared with us before we made the booking! So here are the options we had: Freezing pool, cold pool, lukewarm pool, sauna and showers. And the staff didn't speak English either. If you want to come here to travel around the area or be close to nature, then great but don't bother with any of the hotel facilities. Read before booking, Please. Leer antes de reservar, porfa.

So... Where to begin? 1. Both myself & my partner speak fluent Spanish and all conversations were held in Spanish.. 2. We have lived in the area for over 10 years and it is as beautiful as imagined. 3. This is the only time I have ever felt the need to write such a long review. 4. This trip was not something we couldn´t afford, but it was a trip that I saved for to make sure it could be special. My main complaint is to do with the quality/cost balance. This review is for a 4 star hotel who would have charged 220€ for board for 2 nights, breakfast and 1hr of spa, 60€ for a 50 minute massage and 60€ for a dinner for 2. Before anyone else considers spending at least 400€ (plus lunch) on a 2 night stay, please read this. I hope it is balanced.I booked online through their website. It meant we had a free drink (alcohol free) on arrival and discounts on spa treatments. After booking I called to confirm it had gone through, book our spa time, my partners massage and hopefully reserve in the "the brasserie" restaurant... Reservas confirmed my booking and passed me to the spa to book. Spa was rude (tone and demeanor) and unhelpful, but eventually we found a slot. They told me to call the main line back if I wanted to reserve in the restaurant as it is a seperate company. Again with reservas, who informed me that you cannot reserve in any of the 3 restaurants on-site, but not to worry. The general attitude on the phone should have been a warning that the customer service and communication weren´t great. 1 week later we arrive. My husband is a little picky, so I laughed as he complained about the lack of signs to help you when you arrive to check in at the resort. When you book you aren´t informed of which hotel you will be staying in, so you need to go to a main reception - which isn´t so clear and only one has a physical person in reception. We noticed while wandering that the building looked a litte worn and weathered.4.30pm: Queued for reception and witnessed various guests complaining to an obviously frazzled receptionist. I commented to my husband that one guest´s attitude seemed really rude - they´re just peple trying to do their job after all... I didn´t realise that I would be that rude guest around 5 hours later. 5pm: We checked in, dropped our bags in a very dated and dirty room, before heading to the spa. It was fine. Worth 45€ per person? No. Dated, damp and decayed in places and discoloured. The outdoor parts were terrible. At both the reception and the spa I asked them to reccommend which on-site restaurant would be nice for a special meal that evening, both said the brasserie. My husband had a massage which cost 60€. Also fine. Considering it´s a 50 minute treatment which started at 6.35pm and he was back in the old and worn room by 7.25pm... Anyway, we still thought dinner and a few drinks in the bar would solve the day. After all the surroundings are absolutely stunning.8pm: Off we went (early to make sure we got a table) to the Brasserie to try some local food. It was closed. Since no one had mentioned this we were suprised and headed upstairs to the Continental Restaurant - a buffet - and asked Carlos the matri if it would be opening. As a queue formed behind me he told me our options were the buffet or the italian. At this point we decided we would rather not stay 2 nights. His one word answers, the lack of communicatin, the dirty windows and sad buildings were NOT the treat we were hoping for.8.30pm: The friendly woman at reception said she understood and offered a free night any time before November. I asked her to get the night deducted from the bill, as we wouldn´t be returning. She said to enjoy our dinner and she´d have an answer later on.We headed to the Italian. - I´ll leave another review for that place... "Great starters (honestly YUM!), fun & friendly waiter, shop bought pasta & sauce and a frozen pizza, with a terrible manager:"No one has ever complained." "We think it´s fine" "That´s not my probem." were her responses to "Honestly we can´t eat it, can you swap the main?" "Maybe we´re fussy, but it´s really not nice and undercooked". The best being "We ordered the caprese tortalini not the 4 cheese ravioli".. "Well we only have this". My husband ate the pasta as it was passable and he was hungry, even he drew the ine at the pizza. This man has never left pizza in his life. We told her we were unhappy, she said the chef thought it was fine and brought us the full bill. We put it on the room so as not to pay the bill. Told her we wouldn´t be paying for the mains and would speak with reception... She asked us if we wanted desert and laughed when we said we wouldn´t chance it.10pm: While we ordered a drink at the bar (great guys with lots of advice about the area) I went to speak to reception. They were willing to knock 70€ off of the 220€ bill and we would only stay one night. However, now I had to speak to them about the food. At this point I was tired and dissapointed. They called the matri, Carlos. He was trying to oversee 2 restaurants and a wedding they had on. He was brusk and rude. Of course he was. After an annoyingly long converstion and several phone calls he told me the bill was clear and we wouldn´t be charged. I was suprised as the problem was over the mains, so thanked him but also said there was no need to wipe the whole thing, but he just wanted to get on with hs job - I felt bad for him, but also decided it wasnt my problem. This is around 11pm.We went to the room with bottle of wine, decided to plan the next day´s walk, and checked out the next day after breakfast. We were seated for a frankly terrible and chaotic breakfast at 8.30am by the same matri Carlos and checked out by the same receptionist at 10am... I´m not surprised they were brusk or rude. I am not surprised that the receptionist didn´t disagree when I said it wasn´t 4 star hotel. I am not surprised that (despite the claim that no one complains) there are terrible reviews on here nor that while at breakfast we heard so many people complaining about how much they had paid. The place needs a serious face lift and the staff need a break. Most of all I dislike that I had to be an angry customer to receive any compensation. The worst way to start a romantic break. Our mediocre experience after discounts and a free meal still cost 235€.. 1 night, 2 people in the spa for an hour, a massage and a bottle of 15€ wine... The area is beautiful, book ANYWHERE else. Again, if it weren´t a 4 star hotel I wouldn´t complain, but this is expensive and terrible. On the night of 11.8.2017 and after 8 pm at night we have been in the village Torla rdesa and we found out that there is no available room in any hotel in this village. We booked then with booking.com a room in Continental hotel in PanticosaAfter 5 minutes we realized that we made a mistake and its a long drive in the mountains and in the night.About two hours driving. WWe called to the hotel on phone to cancel but they said that only booking.com can do it.We didnt show up.Now after we returned home we spoke with booking.com who spoke with the hotel.and the hotel said they don't give back the money they charged!!!May be legally they are right.I think it is not a fair behavior. It is bad for a business to take money from a customer without giving any service at allI leave it to the readers to decide Adjunto De Dirección, Otros at Hotel Continental - Balneario de Panticosa, responded to this review We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. Modern rooms connected to the Hot Spring (Terma)

    rating29 Jul 2017

We drove from Bielsa to Panticosa on the picturesque (but curvy) N 260 and enjoyed the view. The staff were friendly. The room was small but modern with luxurious finishes and we did not spend much time there. Dinner at the restaurant was good. It is connected to the Termas de Tiberious (hot spring) which was our motive for the visit and you get a 10 euro discount. Great hiking in the area as well. There are only a few restaurants and only a tiny store with few food items so purchase your food/drinks for hiking in the town of Panticosa before driving to the Balnearia. My only complaint about the hotel was that the carpet in the hall was stained and needed replacement. Nozar R, Director de Relaciones con Clientes at Hotel Continental - Balneario de Panticosa, responded to this review Dear Elaine U!Thanks for describing and commenting on TripAdvisor your stay, these details help us detect aspects to improve. We thank you for your positive words to our staff, we will transmit it to you to continue to improve day by day.As for the rooms, they may seem small, but they correspond to the medium-high size of hotels of the same category. We took note of your suggestion on the carpet and passed your complaint to our apartment department so they can fix it.We look forward to welcoming you back to our Resort in the future.Sincerely,Director of Customer RelationsBalneario de Panticosa.
