  Ideal for exploring Val D’Aran

  Arrived at this quaint’ish hotel after a long drive, and nearly missed our dinner slot, noting that we booked half-board. Well, let me tell you, I had venison for the main course and never have I had a more succulent & generous portion…the wine flowed so easy that I happily melted into the night. The next morning, breakfast was a straight forward affair that set us up nicely for the day ahead. And so, the same happy pattern continued during our stay there…the room was old world rural, a tad dark, but comfortable all the same. If visiting Val D’Aran in the future, I would seek this hotel out again.

  We stayed in Casa Stampa with my husband and our 4 year old son. The room was a bit small, but it did not matter much as it was very comfortable and the hotel and surroundings were so beautiful we did not spend much time indoors. The staff is great, treatment of everybody 120%, they helped us in everything we needed including laundry, recommmendations and gluten free food for every meal. as they are in a busy season, they asked us to order dinner in the morning through a survey, that we found it to be a really good idea so dinners were more relaxed for everyone. We felt like family and we will come back for sure.

  We'd had dinner some years earlier, as it had been such a great experience, we decided to spend some days lodged in the hotel. Cozy and friendly staff. What I was not satisfied with, was half board does not include drinks, and we had never been told so. But for the rest, really nice place.

  My husband and I had a lovely stay at this hotel inn which is set in Escunhau (Escuñau), a quiet, peaceful small town area a few minutes drive away from Vielha. It is runned by a family and everyone was super nice and friendly, we felt very welcomed. The decor has an old school charm and it is so cozy. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast with variety, they made fresh egg omelettes for us. Excelente estadia en Casa Estampa, en Escunhau (Escuñau), un pueblito a 5 minutos de Vielha. Es un hotel pequeño muy acojedor corrido por la familia. El servicio fue excelente! El desayuno tiene Buenos seleccion y todo muy fresco. Altamente recomendado!

  A deceiving experience

  We were staying in Escunhau with my family the day before Halloween, and we decided to go for dinner to Casa Estampa, who was very close. Being out of season, the hotel and restaurant were almost entirely empty, so we had no problems to have a place. We were offered a menu instead of the usual dishes, which, as a family, was very convenient. But once there, the person attending was not correct; for instance, she did not even bring us the bread until the second dish had already been served; and the soup was so hot, that my mouth was burnt. The meal was rather plain, but the addition, however, was pretty high... and, even if they are supposed to accept cards, the attending person strongly insisted in being paid cash (to avoid paying the TVA that had anyway been charged, I guess). In general, we felt being treated as second rate clients... but prices were not second rate.
