    Dated Dirty Dive.

    rating24 Sept 2017

Luckily I called the hotel prior to arriving as in the booking paper work nothing was explained. We had to collect the keys from another hotel which they said was the novelty II appartments, we walked around for 20minutes as this hotel was locked and dark. It's a building a few doors down with the agency called arysal. The guy in there was actually really nice and helpful. I had to pay 150 deposit, 25 euros for arriving after 10pm and 14euros for city tax (which was reasonable). He got up a picture of the building on Google maps and showed us how to get in and where the entrance was. It's round the back of the building through a big metal gate. It is not sign posted or stated anywhere, so it's lucky he told us!This is more of a residential block, occupied with locals and expats. So was very quiet and had an Un-holiday like atmosphere. It diddnt feel like a nice welcoming atmosphere you expect to get on holiday. The actual reception in the building had nothing to do with the holiday appartments. We went down in the morning to request a fan as there was no aircon, and the lady just shrugged and told us to go to arysal. We went September so dread to think what it's like there in the summer. When we eventually got back to the appartments It was very difficult to get in. There were 4keys not labelled so we had to try 1 of them in each lock on the way in. They keys and locks them selves were really old and did not work as they shod have. You had to put the key in the lock and slowly wiggle out backwards untill it found its unlocking point. The corridors, stairs and lift were filthy and looked like they had never been cleaned. After walking around in the morning on the first day our feet were black! The floors in the apparment clearly had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. Infact there was old dirt and Grime engrained everywhere. All Around the plug /drain hole in the bath was thick black and grimey. The walls were all marked and scuffed. The skirting boards were black in all the corners. The floor tiles in the living room area were all cracked and one was really wobbly and loose to walk on. There was just dirt in every single nook and crevice possible. It looks like they just leave it how the previous guests have left it and not ever done a deep clean. The bath had rusty/discoloured taps and also had been fixed with a cheap filler and a bit of pink paint that diddnt even match the colour of the bath. The toilet and sink were OK but not clean. We bleached the whole thing before having a shower. The kitchen was also dated and very dirty. The equipment provided (Utensils, pots, pans, ect) was adequate but also dirty. No kettle or toaster is provided. We had an iron but diddnt want to use it as the cord was all frayed with loose wires hanging out. The fridge was large and the oven and hob worked really well tbf. We diddnt use the microwave so can't comment on that. The bedroom was dingy and at the back of the appartment opposite a really loud all inclusive that diddnt stop untill 2am every night! The beds were hard and uncomfortable and the sheets /covers were all smelly so we had to wash them before sleeping inside the covers. The inky good thing was that we had 2 pillows each (hardly anything to scream about). The doors/frames were all chipped and paint comming away. The sofa was hardly a two seater and felt more uncomfortable that sitting on a bus. Housekeeping came round the morning after the night we arrived (baring in mind we had not got in untill 1am) we were out buying cleaning items and they had left a note saying they only come out on a Monday before 10am. Ridiculous '! We were not told about this. Linnen was also only changed on a Monday so we had to wash our own towels and sheets (not what you want to be doing on a 'relaxing holiday').The balcony was large and had a table + 3chairs (sad if four of you ended up staying). There also was a drying rack handy for the washing. Finally the pool, it was huge but there were no sun loungers. Just a patch of spongey grass. I saw a local walking there dog down there so did not really want to lie/put my towel in animal excrement. We went down for a look, the water was ice cold and the pool it's self full of bugs / dirt. It did not look very well maintained or kept. There was cigarette ends and litter round the outside on closer inspection. We did not use the pool during our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here, only downside was my husband had to go to get keys from different location at two in the morning while I stayed outside the apartments with 3 small children who were tired 😴 and just wanted to sleep, but once we got sorted 4am we had a good sleep and the rest of holiday was great apartments were clean spacious with balcony with views of pool, kidz enjoyed pools and were not bothered about short walk to beach, would definitely stay again but definitely would get earlier flights :)

A few quirky moments but very nice appartments.

    rating23 Sept 2014

First of all you have to collect your keys from the offices of the Melody Appartments 10 minutes walk away, but it is well worth it.Spacious appartments with a generous balcony. A big bonus in our appartment was a washing machine which means that if you use it ,you can avoid all the washing being done on your return home. There is no maid or cleaning done whilst you are there, and the laundry is changed onceweekly on a Monday. All cleaning equipment is located in the appartment, but no cleaning substances, you have to buy them yourself. Can be noisy at times as it is near a main road and the other hotels surrounding it offer "entertainment" some nights. No entertainment, meals or drinks offered on site.In a good location 10 mins walk to the centre and main beach.Pool is huge, and an added bonus is that there are no sun loungers, you put your towel on a manicured grass expanse round the pool.Overalll very good value for money and when we go back to Salou,I will be trying to book here again.

    Great location!! Great price!!

Heard so many different reviews on these apartments, but I can say this very clean, good pool and in a great location, just a short walk to local amenities and beach. Only thing I will say is buy a kettle cause there was none in the apartment. ( Grapevine bar rent kettles and irons). If u arrive late u do have to walk a few streets to collect ur keys but all in all good place..;))

    Close To Everything

I stayed here recently with my boyfriend. The rooms were spacious and the pool area was lovely. The staff at reception were very helpful. We had to pay a 150 deposit which is the normal thing over here. We found the staff dealing with this quite rude. The reception in the apartments has nothing to do with the rooms etc. There's roughly a 10-15 min walk to the place that you collect your keys from. A few of the apartments have locals living in them but they don't cause any hassle. One thing I will say is they have a ridiculous rule about lilos and inflatables. There was a family there with a young enough family and the guy in charge of the pool area told them to take there lilos out of the pool even though there was no one else around but me and my boyfriend. Was a bit of a joke. On the positive side we were within ten mins walk from nearly everything and the room was spotless. Be aware they only change linen once a week but there was plenty of spare towels etc in the drawers in the bedroom. All in all not a bad place and great for the price. Check out the nearby Dubliner restaurant they're food was the best we had over there.
