  Good location, the checkin was good stayed a block over the other side to the reception 5 floor, lifts were very busy, the restaurant is more like a canteen very busy the lay out is all wrong everyone pushing into each other,food is fair, pool area is good loads of space and sunbeds didn't watch any entertainment so can't comment.The room was ok bunks for the boys and double bed shower good power hair dryer not great. We overlooked a road but there was some strange static noises coming from somewhere not the road it was odd and loud room 592.Just got back today 29th may not alot going on at the hotel they said its because the season has only just started! My daughter left her bag in reception on the way to the beach with water bottles in it no-one handed it in so it was taken bit sad really.Would I return to this hotel the answer is no because of the eating area.Be aware this hotel has lots of school parties attending.

  Have just come back from a weeks holiday there with my family. It was very nice hotel,staff were very helpful. However there were a couple things that need looking into. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room,if you wanted either especially at night you had to see if the bar's machine was working. The other point is the chaotic scenes at the restaurant for breakfast,lunch & dinner. Packed out every time and no one trying to sort it out.

  This was our 5th time at this hotel and sad to say will be our last, the standards have dropped since our first visit, the entertainment used to be first class but sadly its now average at best, the alfresco resturaunt used to be mostly self service now you have to sit at a table and wait til someone comes to take your order, it took 20mins for someone to ask what we would like, then we waited 40 mins to get our food which was not what we had ordered, it took another 15 mins to get what we asked for. The bar staff are freindly but only one was behind the pool bar most of the time despite the hotel being very busy resulting in long queues, one the plus side you get premium drinks on all inclusive, the food in the main resuraunt was ok but mostly cold, all the staff were freindly except for the guy serving in the resturant bar, we were all inclusive and I asked him for 2 bottles of water at dinner time he asked how many people I said 2, his reply 1 is enough if you finish it come back and get another 1, I could not believe he would deny anyone water, I explained to him I had trouble swallowing food and he reluctently gave me 2 his name was Maged, not a very nice man. Over all the hotel was ok but they have let their standards drop.

  We had a lovely week at the hotel from 19th may. The hotel is great for kids. Was lovely to not have to get up at 6 am for sun beds like other places we have been. The drinks were of a great standard. The food choice wasn’t too bad we found something we liked each time more choice for kids would have been good though. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. The only reason I scored a 4 instead of a 5 is there was a lot of school trips like 100s of kids. The kids were all very well behaved and no trouble the only issue was the dining room if you followed them there was nothing left and cues were horrendous so try avoid times they are in there , Dueño at Medplaya Hotel Calypso, responded to this review Dear Leanne,Thank you very much for your kind feedback.   Decent base to stay but some improvements would make it better.

  Overall, we had a lovely week staying here and felt we got a good deal for the price. The hotel itself was clean, and all of the cleaners and waiting staff were very friendly, pleasant and hardworking. Rooms were cleaned daily if requested, which we appreciated. Our bathroom door panel was rotten but didn’t cause us bother.The food was decent enough, although there wasn’t a huge amount of variety throughout the stay. The restaurant area was kept clean and tidy. The queuing system and then being directed to a seat was unnecessary. We ate out twice in Salou and found the area to be reasonably priced but the restaurant promoters were very intimidating and don’t take no for an answer.The main downside was the noise levels in the rooms. Unfortunately, the soundproofing is very poor — you can hear everything from the hallways, neighbouring rooms and rooms above. We were regularly disturbed by people running around after midnight, doors being slammed and loud music late at night, which made it difficult to properly relax and sleep.Reception also seemed understaffed at times. On both occasions we needed assistance, there was only one member of staff working, resulting in queues of around 30 minutes with large numbers of guests checking in.One of the pools opening at 11am was also a slight disappointment, and sun loungers were often reserved very early in the morning, making it difficult to get a bed by the pool unless you were up early before 8am. Most of the coloured sun loungers were dirty.One other thing to note is that the bar is card-only for guests who are not all inclusive, which may not suit everyone as we only had cash available.Despite a few areas needing improvement — particularly the room soundproofing — we still enjoyed our stay overall.Beach is around 15 mins walk.Centre of Salou is also a 15/20 mins walk. , Dueño at Medplaya Hotel Calypso, responded to this review Dear guests,Thank you very much for your detailed feedback.
