  Amazing Hotel & Holiday at the Golden Avenida

  We had the pleasure of staying at the Golden Avenida for a weeks’ holiday in early September with our 12 yr. old son and 9 yr. old nephew. This was our second year in a row returning here and we would not hesitate to recommend or come back again in the future. All the staff across the Reception, Entertainment, Bar, Restaurant and Cleaning staff always give 5 star / 1st class service and are a real credit to the Hotel, some of whom recognised us from last year they all genuinely care about their guests, you don’t feel like a number like we have staying at some other Hotels in the past. Outside of the kids club every day for a few hours there are numerous activities organised by a very passionate and engaging Entertainment Team in and around the pool which cater for all ages the only problem might be deciding which activity to pick as sometimes there can be three on at the one time?? , The Entertainment continues into the night with face painting / balloon making & Kids Disco for the younger kids followed by Quiz’s or Bingo and Nightly shows some of the shows we would have happily paid for they were that good, though for the nightly shows at busy times it might be advised to get into the bar early as some of the seats have obstructed (by support pillars) views of the stage. Travelling with fussy eaters all of us were continually impressed with the quality and choice of food on offer and we used to look forward to meal-time’s and it never became tiresome or repetitive like we have encountered in other, Hotel’s we have stayed in. Keep up the good work!Outside of the Hotel Salou itself I feel is nice overall especially around the promenade and Beach Sea front area, there are some tacky retail outlets (which may not be to everyone’s taste) that bring the tone down somewhat and a lot of shops sell 'smutty' Tee-shirts which needs to be looked at as I do not feel these are in keeping with what is predominantly a family resort. Outside of visiting Porta Ventura I recommend visiting Cambril’s and Tarragona which was stunning in parts also highly recommend doing family friendly Bike Tours with downhillbikes where you can visit some small friendly local villages in the mountains whilst taking in nice scenery.   NOT A 4* IN COMPARISON TO OTHER 4* HOTELS IVE STAYED

  Not a 4* hotel…. I have stayed in 3* better than this hotel.The rooms are a great size, but areas were shabby looking.We payed 4* prices and the higher end of a 4* price because the reviews were good.Unfortunately I would not return to this hotel even if I got it £1,000 cheaper than what I paid. Don’t be fooled into booking here because of the good reviews. Book it if you get a good price to stay here, as it’s ok, but not worth 4* prices, compare this hotel with what you can get a 3* stay. The food is good.. the hot selection is small but the quality was good.The rooms are a good size… but it’s like staying in a hostel.. you hear the guests in the neighbouring rooms, peeing, flushing, talking, arguing, snoring, coughing, being sick, opening and closing their patio curtains and doors, moving furniture, not to mention the slamming of the main apartment doors, kids running and screaming up and down the corridors, all happening through to early hours. Toddlers ‘SCREAMING’ they don’t want to go to bed between 12am-1am!!! There are signs asking guests to be quiet in the corridors, but my next paragraph will explain why guests won’t be the type to let these signs concern them.Young kids and teenagers unsupervised disrespecting the pool rules and restaurant rules around the hotel, with lifeguards and restaurant staff having to confront them about their behaviour.14-16 year olds drinking pints of beer in the indoor pool/jacuzzi area. Young teenage boys shouting and swearing around the game areas while little ones are around. I understand some of this is out of the hotels control, but this is to make future guests aware of the type of families who are staying here. Obviously not all, but a good 95%.The entertainment is on far too late for wee ones. Face painting and balloon modelling were the only 2 early activities in the evenings that alternated over the week of our stay.The pool needs updating its grubby looking, with black grime around the edges. Warn off paint off the slides, sunbeds were filthy. I ended up with a bug the last 3 days of my holiday, which is concerning as I read this is something that appears to have been going around from early summer. Location is good… less than a 10min walk to the beach, shops and restaurants.   Hotel is run down .room was never clean towels are old grey and dirty.staff have no time for you tall yound guy at pool very rude . outdoor chairs in restaurant hard dipped in middle .tables old chipped. Forks knife all old got a drink at pool in plastic chipped cup .   Excellent hotel, from warm welcoming staff.   Excellent hotel and facilities. All inclusive was excellent .Friendly and helpful staff.Room was cleaned dsily.Hotel was very clean with beautiful poolside and food supplied all day. Entertainment at night was very good variety. Very close to local shops snd the beach.
