This attractive beach hotel is situated in the tourist centre of Salou, just a few metres from Plaza Europa (approximately 150 m) as well as from the inviting sandy beach and the turquoise-blue sea (about 300 m away). Port Aventura and the town centre lie just a short distance from the hotel and Universal Studios Port Aventura is to be found around 500 m away. It is approximately 10 km to Reus.

Great hotel, perfect location and recently renovated accommodations.

Really surprised at this hotels poor reviews, so let me give you a balanced one. Salou in general - it’s a nice resort, smaller than say Benidorm or Calella but similar feel. The bonus here is a beautiful long sandy beach which is well maintained. If you want to party, you can. You don’t have too.California Gardens - Great location, 5 minutes walk from the strip/beach and close to local bus stops for Barcelona and Portaventura.My room (218) is clean, recently refurbished and well appointed. The double glazing does a great job, and I haven’t been disturbed for sleeping despite being at the front by the road. My only ask would be for a few English TV channels - as a solo traveller, I don’t like to venture out too far on an evening so it would be nice to have something other than alJazeera to watch.Pool area is large and immaculate, plenty of loungers (please remember I’m here out of season)Great bar, friendly staff and good prices. Food - they are serving plentiful hot and cold local dishes, and I have found something to eat every night. Tonight we were treated to lovely salad bar, chicken, veal, turkey, pizza, tuna pastries and a lovely paella type rice with paprika potatoes. This is typical Spanish cuisine, and I have very much enjoyed it.The desserts - this is typical hotel food, little pots of jelly, sliced up cakes etc. I would say the poor reviews are from fussy eaters or those who want sausage, chips and beans whilst in Spain. The hoards around the children’s chicken nuggets tonight spoke volumes.

We got a bedroom, a large living room and a kitchenette. We found this to be very good for our 11 day stay. Actually ApartHotel California is linked to the Gardens. Convenient for the sea and for shops. Breakfasts good if rather British in style. Reception helpful and flexible. Would recommend them to put in a USB point in each room.

Lovely hotel , nice clean bright room.We had breakfast included but personally i didn’t enjoy the food but the slushies are amazing ! Lovely pool / outside area .Nice wee sauna/ steam room €7 pp which isn’t bad at all . Bar staff lovely / reception staff were nice enough . I would go again just self catering next timeSo central and close too everything .Lovely balcony

Visited this hotel from the 27/09/26 on arrival was completely confused why so many football fans,teams were there. So immediately felt uncomfortable using the lifts, public area and bars, restaurants ect and each day more arriving, to a hotel which is advertised as a family hotel, this spoilt the first part of our holiday. Apart from that the hotel was very clean and well presented. My room was above the restaurant with constant noise and not a great view but on a positive note, nice clean hotel with good food but need to provide clean plates ?? would not recommend for a family or quiet holiday

Location was good not too far from the centre of salou.Room was very basic but housekeeping kept it really clean.Nice pool area with nice bar.Food was a very poor, breakfast was cold and the eggs looked like they had been there for a long time, restaurant was like a school canteen, ended up going out for food out whole stay.Some staff were friendly and some where rude.Would stay again but only on room only basis, food waste of money.
