  Typical of what you'd expect from a 3*

  Typical of what you'd expect from a 3* in most cases. I never have too many expectations as long as basic things are met like clean rooms, bedding & towels. Which they were. Overall we enjoyed our stay, we had no major grumbles and nothing to actually complain about. I can't relate to other peoples comments about the rooms being small and outdated as our room (333) was huge with a separate sitting room with a pull out sofa bed in along with the main room having double beds pushed together. The room was nice and clean and looked recently refurbished.I agree the bar staff are a bit moody but to be honest, they got me my drinks and I couldn't really care, if they hate their job so be it (The cleaners are lovely though as well as the security guy on the front entrance)We stayed AI and the food was adequate and we always found something to enjoy to eat and I'm usually fussy. It's also a nice touch that they will open a bottle of wine labelled with your room number and will keep it aside for the next time you're in the restaurant.We were a couple staying with our 21 month old and the only thing I would say is please pay more attention to cleaning the pool area. The pool is not the cleanest and really does need some attention along with some basic maintenance. It is the only place we've stayed were we haven't seen them jet wash down beds on an evening which really needs to be done.The token for drinks also didn't bother us. I think it is a good idea to take your cup back to the bar and get a fresh one each time. Instead of loads of empty cups laying around for someone to have to collect.The location is great for everything you need and we enjoyed many walks down the main strip.At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and it's a 3* for a reason. People need to stop expecting 4/5* from a 3. Non of what I have mentioned spoiled our time expect for one full day of rain which I can't blame the hotel for :)

  The hotel is clean, rooms were clean and had service every day with clean towels and beds made. There were a couple of issues for me though. First of all when you’re at the bar and paying for drinks please ask for a receipt and CHECK it all adds up! After the bar man accused me of not standing in the queue to be served (which i clearly was) They had the audacity to add a cocktail onto the bill which hadn’t been asked for! Secondly the food ???????? It was absolutly terrible! If cold chips probably from the night before float your boat for breakfast then youl love it ?? … To be clear i’m not a fussy eater! However we had to eat out every night for dinner as it was so bad! All in all I did have a good holiday but the food and attitude of the bar staff put me off kinda. Would I stay here again? Nope I certainly wouldn’t! This is just my opinion and my experience of the place. I’d go back to salou in a heartbeat though! So looking for something for next year but unfortunately not this hotel ????

  Good holiday but quite a few minuses

  This the third time we have visited Villa dorada but probably wouldn’t come again. This time we were in a room on far left 306 which overlooked the moon bar and the bus stop. The buses are incredibly noisy as they go past and there are lots of them!! Also there was terrible smell in the bathroom unless you keep the air conditioning on, and then the room is freezing (you can’t keep balcony door open due to traffic noise and mosquitoes…) we stayed 10 nights and although we found something to eat in the evening there was a lot of repetition and based on cheap ingredients for the most part. The pool was great we it’s no problem getting a sun bed whatever ever time you went and the maid that did our room was lovely. However it was a struggle to get table for breakfast at weekends- a lot of Spanish seem to arrive if the forecast is good. Overall we had a good holiday and the hotel is in a perfect location but we are unlikely to come again. Finally better quality toilet paper would be a big help, think sandpaper rather than Andrex??

  We travelled as a Family of 7, 3 children included, age 16, 9 and 6. The entertainment team were great however it seemed to be abit all over the place in terms of time ect. Im not sure if it was because it was almost out of season but everything just seemed very laxed? Never on time, minidisco was just music playing ect.... The Activities during the day also appeared quite odd, they seem to only ask their fellow Spanish to get involved, each day they completely just walked past us onto the next Spanish family, I found this quite rude and isolating.Food was great, probably the best ive had in a hotel to be honest and I travel approx 3x a year.Location was amazing, everything you need is right there on the door step, main strip is like a 3/4 min walk (It is on abit of a hill).The biggest complaint I do have was that the entire week we was there i did NOT see the actual pool be cleaned once, there was mold/algea in the pool too which wasn't pleasant. Also around the pool is EXTREMELY slippy! Never in my life had i seen so many people falling children and adults. Reception staff were very polite and helpful, however the bar staff always seemed in a mood which i understand as it was long hour's, but they didnt half put a downer on us.Although it was a lovely hotel, rooms are nice and updated, food was great, great location. I probably wouldn't return due to the pool and activities situation as this is a big part of our holiday, especially whilst our children are still young.
