  Favela in Salou!!!

  If you're not sure what a Favela is, it's a slum or impoverished area in Brasil. Not that the surrounding area and hotels are bad, just this particular apartment block.Best laugh is, we were told Rentalmar Salou Playa has just recently been refurbished.Knew this was not going to be good from the moment of arrival.Upon arrival you are greeted by the most rude, incompetent, obnoxious reception staff I've ever come across in my life.First bomb shell. €300 deposit. Why? Because the apartment is for 6 people. Didn't matter there was only 3 of us. Oh. On top of that they want €47 tax and charges.Parking. There is no car park. Only street parking. Good luck finding a space. However you could use the parking at another Rentalmar property which was a 15 minute walk back. Drive around Solou for half an hour and gave up looking. Parking was another €20 per day. So. Now up to €487. More than half the cost of the holiday.Luckily, we went into the Old Brown Cow (nice) bar a few metres along the road for a bite to eat.There we were informed that as of Oct 1st, street parking was free and the machines shut down. Again total lack of care and incompetence by the staff failed to inform us of this fact.The apartment itself wasn't anything great either. Air Con not working. WiFi non existent. Flaky mattress toppers and no extraction in the bathroom. The cherry on the cake. You have to be sure the apartment is spotless and take out any rubbish or they keep the deposit.Wouldn't stay at a Rentalmar property again if you paid me too.Book at your own risk or AVOID!AVOID AVOID AVOID. At all costs.

  The only good thing about this place is the location. When you arrive they tell you there is a €300 deposit. They also tell you that it is your responsibility to clean the room when you’re ready to leave, but you have to go buy your own cleaning products. The coloured girl on front desk is very rude when we booked in. Rooms are big but very very basic. No kettle nothing. Can’t even open windows and there’s always someone smoking weed Weed. Rooms are moldy, sinks flood, shower floods, we charged back through our bank it was that bad

  After seeing reviews I was very sceptical. Good location, rooms basic but clean. No kettle but that’s wasn’t a big issue. Had to wash anything that you used cups etc something I’d always do anyway and also take your rubbish out to big bins on the street. I’d always make sure I leave a room clean before I leave strip beds etc Friendly helpful staff. Reception open 9am - 9pm. Only issue I had was paying the €200 security deposit it’s a lot as normally they max is always €100.

  This hotel is closed! We arrived with 2 small tired children to an empty building with a note that asked us to walk to another hotel 20 minutes away.... We did this and then where told our new hotel isnt even in salou so we would have to pay for another taxi there.... And they wanted another £300! Absolute disgrace that this hotel is still on the site when they know it isnt in use. I had to walk around salou at night in the dark to find any hotel that had space for me and my children. I have requested a full refund and compensation for this.
