    We stayed at this hotel inadvertently having thought we had booked into the Hotel St Jordi in Tarragona - be careful if you use Booking.com. We paid £85 per night and were told we were booked into a superior room. Room 211 for the record is next to a lift and overlooks the train line which passes by....frequently. Badly decorated, broken light. At best it was clean. We complained and got moved to another room on the 3rd floor which was a great improvement - still basic. There was an adjoining door which when we returned after dinner a dog barked continuously and then at 2:30 pm when a couple arrived back and decided to get amorous the dog joined in with the noise!We won't be going back! Staff lovely but really expensive for an exceptionally basic hotel.

    Last minute cancellation

    We booked this hotel in February 2017 ready for our trip to Spain in June/July.Whilst we were waiting for our cruise out of Barcelona, we were advised by Expedia that our booking had been cancelled by the hotel as the hotel had overbooked. How this could happen when our booking was made and confirmed in February is beyond me!Expedia offered alternative accommodation which was rejected by us as it did not meet the basic requirements we required eg it was an apartment not a hotel, it had no air conditioning, not serviced and was located a fair distance from where we wanted to be in Segur de Calafell. We provided a reasonable alternative (which we later booked) but this was rejected by Expedia as being too expensive. ( it was actually cheaper than the alternative offered on Expedia's own website)?I cannot understand how Expedia allow these hotels to cancel bookings like this at such short notice with no thought to compensation and they continue to support these places.Under no circumstances could I recommend the Sant Jordi to prospective travellers.

    A great taste of Spain

    Charming small hotel half way between Salou and Barcelona. The staff are great and the hotel is clean and tidy. Good continental breakfast. Majority of people only speak Spanish but are willing to give communication a go no matter what. The hotel is close to the train line and the only downside to this place was noise level as the walls are thin. All solved with a pair of ear plugs. On street parking is plentiful but you need to park at the top of the hotel on a Thursday as the road in front of the hotel is closed on Friday for the market. Ten minute walk to the beach which is lovely and clean.

    Small hotel on the main road, convenient for trains and public transport. Friendly staff, very clean and a good breakfast. A bit noisy next to train line and road. Recommended for travellers on a budget.

    For godsake, do not attempt to sleep in this place. Drive some more kilometers if necessary. Rooms were built in the 19th century and no works have been made since then. The mattress was very bad too.
