    Lovely small hotel close to beach

    Arrived early, cases kept behind reception, room ready at 2pm. Check in friendly and quick, small reception area. Two small lifts. Room clean, bathroom walk in shower, room 219, side sea view over pool. Pool small but was not busy plenty of empty beds. Hotel between main road and railway but noise not a problem. No English tv which was ok for us. Restaurant clean, food varied could always find something to choose. Noticed previous reviews cold food, they now have a microwave. Staff had good basic languages. French, Russian, english. We were only British in all week but not a problem. Close to beach and brilliant Plana buses. No entertainment except small group one night again suited us, a good find hoteltheelement, Gerente at Emerald Sun Hotel, responded to this review Thank you very much for your comment.We are pleased to hear that you have been well at our hotel.     I had a short stay at the hotel and appreciated the room size - living room with kitchen/bar/sofa and separated bedroom.The room was also very clean and refreshed every day by the staff. The sofa was a bit out of shape.Not far from the beach - just cross the road. You can rent a bicycle and ride for 10-15 min to get to Cambrils Harbour or Salou. Cars noise could bother the light sleepers.Food was average for a 4 * hotel. I don't recommend to take the package.Swimming pool was just near the road so I didn't even try it. Hotel reception staff was very friendly and helpful. A 20 euros supplement was requested for later check out (+2h) which seemed pricy.The bar and terrasse areas are very nice and the bartender Alefandro made some excellent cocktails and did an impeccable service.     Just returned from a short break the staff are very friendly and helpful.The hotel was kept really clean and the rooms were not a bad size and had a welcome addition of a fridge to keep cold drinks in.The only downside i would say is their is not a great choice of food at dinner and the food was either barley warm or just stone cold not what you would really expect from a 4 star hotel . hoteltheelement, Gerente at Emerald Sun Hotel, responded to this review Thank you very much for sharing your stay at our hotel.We regret that we did not live up to your expectations in the catering area.     Loved how close to the beach and the lovely walking path that goes for miles along sea front.Very clean although awful sewage smell in the bathroom on lots of occasions. Trains and associated very loud noises not an issue if you're a good sleeper. Not great for relaxing during the day.Food was poor at the restaurant, Luke warm at best, very, very little choice. Outdoor seating is lovely, though. We began having meals from the bat instead which was much better quality and more choice! Staff very friendly and tried to help us learn more Spanish :) If food was better, I would definitely stay again.

    We didn’t stay here but found they offered an open buffet for evening meals for non residents at a brilliant price for 11.95, starter mains dessert and a drink! The choice was amazing, the food was well presented and a wide choice. Staff were very pleasant, and such a nice change from the English / Irish bar food nearby. Would really recommend this place. The restaurant is tucked at the back of the hotel, which you walk down a pathway beside the hotel bar to reach.
