Location

Situated close to the town centre (around 150m), this city hotel is directly located in the tourist resort of Carmona.     Original a 16th century convent, This historic property, was remodelled into a hotel in 1991. The lobby/courtyard is lovely. It is about a 12 minute walk (downhill) to the main square.I had standard room 305 for two nights, which was nice size with a vintage feeling. Bring a power strip to charge up your electronics as spare outlets are few and far between. Most outlets are being used for lamps, the only source of light - so you need them all. The bathroom is nice size, with a double sink and a tub/shower combination. There are nice bathroom amenities including small bottles of shampoo, and shower gel. Unfortunately the view is of the glass roof over the lobby. There is no coffee/tea set up, but you can ask for a kettle (in Spanish: hervidor) and coffee cups. The hotel key card activates the rooms’ electricity and request a spare if you need to keep the mini-fridge on. This is especially important if you have medication that must be refrigerated.The hotel has a wide range of rooms, but I thought the standard category room was comfortable, it’s only limitation being lack of a view.The breakfast buffet is good, with fried eggs available. Look for their nice selection of breads, cheese and sweets.     This hotel is a beautiful building steeped in history, but the hotel service really does not live up to its potential.The hotel is clean and has everything that it should have, but it lacks warmth and service. Although the staff were pleasant, and all credit to them operating in another language (as I don't speak Spanish), I did not get the impression that they wanted to exceed expectations of service or predicted areas that would cause anxiety - for example, there was a large group at breakfast one morning, clearly on a deadline to leave - so the kitchen should have been better prepared for the volume - and or opened earlier to accommodate them. They didn't and so we were negatively impacted by this hoard of people.     We stayed at this hotel alongside a holiday package. The staff were brilliant and took good care of us. The restaurant attached were excellent and located for a large table despite being booked they still found the time and space to fit us as well. The water was hot, the area is safe and there are little safes in the rooms.     Nice hotel , but go Bed &Breakfast

    A nice old style Hotel. Very clean, with extremely friendly staff. Pool area is small , but comfortable . Buffet breakfast in basement is very acceptable . Dinner in Restaurant with waiter service but Half-board very disappointing ( same 4 , poor quality ,choices for main course and starter every day . Only cake or fruit as dessert. ) Alternative was to use the very unusual Restaurant menu with an insufficient allowance of only 20 euros.Carmona is a lovely historic and uncrowded town 21 km from Seville ( 3 euro each way on bus ) with very friendly residents and plenty of historic sites angela rubio, Director General at Hotel Alcazar de la Reina, responded to this review Dear Guest, First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to review our establishment.
