    Tenerife's Hidden Jewels

    rating14 Apr 2025

Beautiful and comfortable, fresh mountain air. Estrella del Norte sits in the shadow of the vulcan El Teide, which is also the highest mountain in spain. Amazing ocean view from all rooms on the side facing the ocean as well as from the elegant common terrace. Be sure to request an ocean view room if you want to enjoy this feature. Good for relaxing, or accessing other parts of the island of Tenerife via car or bus. Great restaurant downstairs, as well as cafes and a pizzeria within walking distance. Noemi and her family are very kind and eager to help just let them know what you need. Icod is a quaint town as well, with it's wondrous Drago Tree and Butterfly Museum. The natural wondrous pools of Garachico are farther down the hill, a short 5-10 minute drive away. Good hiking forests up the hill. Whether you want to relax in place for a few days, hike around, or if you want to take day trips to other parts of Tenerife, the Estrella is good. The comfort and beauty of the rooms is a highlight.

Pubic hair in bed sheets, dirty grubby place - DO NOT STAY HERE..!!!

    rating24 May 2019

Dirty, filthy room, pubic hair in bed and bidet. Long hair in bed, short hair by the sink. Dated, tired looking furniture, right next to busy road. The whole place needs to be refurbished or a DEEP CLEAN at best. I arrived at 8.30pm and was greeted by a child, why..? Realized it was too late to to find another hotel, contacted Teletext to say that I couldn't stay another night in that hotel for the above reasons. Found a fantastic hotel. Meanwhile, 2 months after my trip, I am arguing the toss with Teletext to get a full refund for the nights I did not stay because (unknown to me) if you stay one night you are liable for all of the nights - bloody disgusting policy..!! If I'd have know that before paying I would not have booked with them. Only a hotel which does not have confidence in their product would have such a policy and I am aghast as to why a brand like Teletext would allow providers to implement this policy. The hotel have offered just under 1/2 the cash but I want it all either from the hotel or Teletext. I will get a full refund and make a formal complaint too, to the regulator if necessary.

small family run hotel in a quite village

    rating24 Feb 2019

They have a range of rooms, I felt sorry we didn't choose a sea view room as view is something worth waking up with, but you can enjoy it at breakfast table as well. Noemi is the soul of the place - she's very friendly and caring. In general we felt looked after and that anything we would ask for would be not a problem (like we received a nice packed breakfast for the early departure). On the day when we stuffed ourselves with amazing fish in Taganana they happily served us deserts and didn't charge for drinks that night as we had no dinner.Pros:Warm welcome and attention to each guest. Quite location.Clean.Well planned out good size appartments/rooms that have meaningfull kitchens (not sure if all of them do).Location is great if you have a car and would like to cover both north and south.Cons:Breakfast was somewhat repetitive and the man preparing it could ask people more what they would like rather than preparing a standart set - i.e. communication.Bedroom had a window which faced indoor space - likely to be an individual room limitation and I can see why they made this design compromise.p.s. I suggest to pop into the shared 1st floor terrace with sea view.

    Could do better

    rating30 Dec 2018

We booked to stay here self catering for a week over Christmas with our 2 children. Delighted to be given a 2 bed apartment with balcony, and views to both Mount Teide and the sea. Apartment was a great size with well equipped kitchen, beds could be comfier and it was a bit rough round the edges but OK. It's a short walk down to Icod but the hill is very steep, so I'd definitely recommend a hire car to anyone staying here.We had several issues - firstly trying to find someone on reception. It is locked at various points of the day, when checking out we had to leave our keys at the bar as no one was available. We didn't have any towels in our room for 2 days (no one on reception to ask!), had to ask for toilet rolls as they weren't replenished and the bins to be emptied. Even after the cleaner had been the floors were filthy and we had to wear shoes inside. But the worst thing was the disappearance of 2 soft toys from the kitchen table I had bought my children specifically for the trip, on the same day the towels were put in the bathroom. We turned the room upside down looking for them but they were nowhere to be found, and we can only conclude they were stolen. We loved the area and would stay in the same location again, but unlikely to be here. noemia78, Gerente at Estrella del Norte, responded to this review Dear Guests, we would like to clarify some points of your review: * Estrella del Norte is a family business, if the recpetion is closed, you can always find us down at the restaurant, for any question or issue. *We found the 2 toys that you mention under the armchair on the living room, when doing the cleaning after your departure. We never stole anything from the rooms, if you send us your address, we Will be happy to send them to you. The cleaning service is programmed every 3 days, with the towel change. Please kkep in mind that this is a holiday home, not a hotel. We gave you the apartment in a good cleaning condition.

    Never Again

    rating28 Dec 2018

Booked for week holiday decided to upgrade to junior suite to treat ourself as it was Christmas, on arrival got key to 502 what a waste of money the room was tiny and all in one room, it looked dirty and a smell in room. Asked to See another room no other Junior Suites available got key to standard room 306 this was bigger, seperate bedroom, bigger kitchen and terrace. That night when we were going to bed we noticed bed sheet were dirty, reported to reception in morning and maid came and changed, that was the last time we saw maid even though the info said cleaning service every 3days, we had to ask for clean towel which got hung on our front door of apartment, if you locked the door from inside you couldn't get door opened and husband had to jump the balcony to open door.Out and about you do really need a car as everywhere is hills every steep hills, but we used taxi which is really cheap to hyper dino 3-4 euro, to Puerto del cruz 28-33 euro worth the money good day outIt's has a one star cause I couldn't leave blank Would we stay here again....no way not even if it was free
