    A scenic stay

    rating15 Jul 2024

We stayed at Hotel Rural Bentor for 7 nights. The hotel is located in a very atmospheric, old building. Our room was situated in a newer section of the building. Though the furnishing of our room was very sober (no airco (we didn't miss that), no kettle, coffee maker and TV e.g.), the room was very spacious and the view from the (big) balcony was wonderful. On our arrival we received a warm welcome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast (buffet style) is served from 8.30 a.m., which we found rather later. We would like to mention the very hospitable Tina for her wonderful omelets, the daily dose of fruits & the lunch :). The restaurant has limited opening hours and a ditto menu. (Please note that there's hardly any choice for vegetarians. Price/quality ratio is reasonable. The hotel has a small swimming pool with a nice terrace, perfect for a morning or evening swim.Though the surroundings are beautiful, there's not much to do in the immediate area where the hotel is located, but it is a perfect base for excursions for people who like a quiet environment and who want to avoid the touristy south.A car is required to explore the area. There's parking space available in the (sloping) street where the hotel is located.

    Terrible reception

    rating19 Dec 2022

Did not recognize our booking with Hotels.com and would not give us a room until after more than 1 hour of arguing! Then the room was so moldy we immediately updated to a room in the "new" wing... Spotty hot water and uncomfortable beds makes this a really bad place to stay.

Beautiful old building overlooking the barranca

    rating08 Feb 2020

Admittedly, we were only there for one night and didn't have dinner there. However, we had asked for a room in the old part. The room was very large, with a high, beamed ceiling and sympathetic washing facilities. We overlooked the barranco - which was great for sitting by the window, although there is a lot more space downstairs on the terrace. The breakfast was very wide-ranging and good. The hotel is interesting to find - in a set-back place up near the top of a hill. Fairly straight-forward if you go directly off the motorway rather than trying to find it through Los Realejos. However, it is easy to walk (on a bridge) across the barranco to find the facilities at Los R.The 'village' it is in is distinct from Los R. but very close.Parking may not be easy to find. (There are limited spaces on the road in front.) There is a (wrong one-way) road with parking a little further down the hill. If you get caught up by the church all is very steep and narrow.

Great to escape the tourist trail.

I booked the Hotel Bentor Rural to get some winter sun and get away from the rat race. That also meant not going to the usual tourist areas for accomodation. The hotel is definately rural and in the middle of a village. You certainly felt as if you were living within the community rather than away in an enclave. The facilities were basic but more importantly clean. Each room has a small room for ensuite facilities. Security was a little bit of a concern because my room's shutters opened up onto the street at waist height, with only a small latch to secure them. I couldn't have the shutters open when asleep as it was only the large shutters which opened, potentially letting anyone in while I was asleep! Really needs a small opening for ventilation & more robust locks. The parking was easy enough, there was a side street within 200 yards where I parked every day, without any cost, it always had free spaces. The staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating. I couldn't have asked them for more. Our flight was delayed and even though we were late for dinner, they accomodated us and opened the kitchen! The food was of very good quality and fresh. We didn't really know what was coming each night until it arrived, but it added to the experience. The food was local, usually accompanied with a local chilli type sauce which was delicious. I don't think I've eaten so healthily over a whole week! The hotel was very quiet overnight except for the odd guest coming and going. There were 2 churches locally which rang bells for the time, maybe worth bearing in mind in case it might cause you a disturbance.Breakfast was a rather random buffet where you wouldn't be sure what would be on offer but there was at least usually something to please most people. I recommend having breakfast on the terrace near the pool!If you're looking for an immaculate hotel, with the height of luxury then this isn't the hotel for you. However, if you look for rustic charm, something out of the ordinary and very friendly staff, I recommend this hotel. Should I revisit Tenerife I would certainly look it up again.

    Beautiful rural hotel

    rating02 Oct 2018

This hotel is in a very quiet location in Los Realejos. The hotel was very clean and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We were a little early for our rooms but they let us leave our luggage in the reception so we could find a place to have lunch. The rooms were very nice and modern but in keeping with the hotel. We had rooms in the new part with large patio and was very quiet because it overlooked the barranco and down to the sea. The small swimming pool is also good to have after a walk around the old part of town and the church. We stayed in the hotel for evening meal and was pleasantly surprised at the three course Canarian meal for 10 euros, there is a choice of meat or fish and both were very nice. The only fault with this hotel is it is not very good for people with walking difficulties due to the amount of steps down to the rooms. We enjoyed this hotel and will certainly use it again when we are at the North of the Island.
