  Brilliant Stay at Hotel Best Semiramis Views, Staff & Value Were Unreal

  We stayed at the Hotel Best Semiramis in Puerto de la Cruz and, to be honest, even though the weather wasn’t great, we had a brilliant time from start to finish.The hotel itself is spotless, and the views out over the ocean are unreal definitely one of the highlights.What really stood out for us was the staff. Every single person we came across was genuinely lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. They made the whole place feel very welcoming almost like a family atmosphere. They were great with the kids as well, always interacting with them, keeping them entertained, greeting guests with a smile, and even taking photos. They were honestly amazing.Our room was cleaned every day to a really high standard, and everything felt fresh and well looked after. The food in the buffet was very good, with loads of choice, and the themed nights each evening were a nice touch and kept things interesting.We made great use of the heated pool, which was ideal given the weather. We also treated ourselves to the spa had a massage and a facial, 40 minutes in total for €40, which was great value. Really relaxing and well worth it.There was entertainment on every night as well something for the kids first and then for the adults, which added to the whole experience.Even though we were only half board, drinks were very reasonably priced, which was a bonus.All in all, we couldn’t recommend this place enough. We enjoyed it so much we’re already talking about going back again.   Just got back from 10 fantastic days here. Couldn't fault anything. The food was good even for a fussy eater like me. The view from the room was impressive. The staff were very friendly. Big shout out to Asia and Esther from the animation team. They were brilliant throughout our stay. Only downside was the weather but we can't blame the hotel for that.   I had high expectations for this hotel given its 5-star rating, but unfortunately the experience felt much closer to a 3. There were a number of basic issues that really shouldn’t occur at this level. In the restaurant, the drinking glasses were consistently dirty, to the point where I had to repeatedly ask for replacements just to get a clean one. While the restaurant itself was clean, the food was fairly average and lacked the quality you would expect. Service also detracted from the experience, staff were often loud, clashing plates and cutlery right next to you while you were trying to eat, and they never made eye contact, making it difficult to order drinks. Most evenings I ended up having to get up and find someone myself. The snack service was also disappointing. We were made to sit outside at the pool bar, even in cold and windy weather, rather than being able to order inside. There was only us sitting out there, which just felt uncomfortable. On one occasion, my partner was served a burger with lettuce that was visibly browning around the edges, which summed up the overall standard of food. The hotel itself, both inside and out, felt quite worn and dated, with rooms that were noticeably tatty and in need of updating. Housekeeping was inconsistent too, for example the fridge was not restocked after cleaning, which you would expect as a minimum in an all-inclusive 5* stay. Speaking of all-inclusive, this was another area that fell short. You couldn’t even take a bottle of water with you, instead being given a paper cup. If you wanted bottled water, there was an additional €1 charge, which feels unreasonable given what you’ve already paid. That said, not everything was negative. The ladies on reception were genuinely lovely, helpful, and welcoming, which made a difference. However, I also encountered an older male staff member on a couple of occasions who was quite blunt and came across as rude, which again isn’t what you expect from a hotel of this supposed standard. Overall, the experience was just very average and not what I was hoping for from a 5-star hotel. There were too many small but important details missing, and it didn’t feel like the premium experience it’s marketed as.   The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the room was spotless throughout my stay. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. I stayed for 9 days, and the menu barely change. It felt repetitive and not very fresh.
