  Location was excellent, with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, as well as nearby beaches.The pool area was good, with plenty of sunbeds available. However, some guests reserved sunbeds with towels and didn’t use them, and staff did not remove these despite stating they would. There was some poolside entertainment, including a violinist.The breakfast buffet was decent, offering a wide variety of options, including some vegetarian choices however some of the vegetarian food was incorrectly labelled.The rooms, however, felt quite outdated and dull, with insufficient lighting.

  Pretty good location, good hotel wirh friendly staff. Great breakfasts

  We booked just a couple of weeks in advance but no bargains 😀We opted for B&B as we like the variety of eating out each evening. Room was fine on the 4th floor, facing the side where the entrance is. The road was pretty quiet as it's a dead end. As others have said, there are lots of steps, so probably not suitable for elderly, infirm, or young children.We had breakfast each day and there were plenty of seats, a good variety of food. All in all one of the best breakfast buffets we've experienced. The only problems were the last two days when there was bad weather and rain, and we did have trouble finding space those days.The pool is split in two by a bridge and one side is incredibly deep for this type of hotel - well over 2 metres. The other side is shallower but only 1/2 could I stand in - so again, not suitable for kids, but there is a seperate very shallow toddler pool available.There were only 2 places for lunch in the hotel. Both were pretty good but most days we used 'That's a Wrap'. Good selection and nice views. Gabrijela was wonderful. She'd only just started here but put the others in the shade. When she took her break it seemed like no one else was there!Pablo was a star too - we mainly met him serving at lunchtime in the Barefoot grill.Also deserving a mention is the 'happiest waitress' we saw all holiday - Alba - she always had a lovely smile.We did eat at The Trattoria one evening. Thought it was poor. We ate at Babbo American Grill twice and thought the food and service was very good.   Lovely hotel in a great lively location although tranquil in hotel. Facilities very good and very clean. The food was excellent as were the staff who were experienced and friendly while professional at the same time. However, my husband had his own mobility scooter and as there were so many steps in the hotel it was sometimes hard to find our way round. Maybe an accessibility map would be a good idea. Entertainment was very tasteful with talented musicians playing at breakfast/lunch and dinner. Would like to return.   Lovely hotel, but wouldn't recommend it for families with young children.

  We stayed at the hotel over Easter holidays with our 6.5 and 1.5 year olds, and this review is based on our experience.The hotel itself is lovely, and great location, but for a resort that markets itself as for “couples and couples with children” it falls very short in its facilities and accommodations for children - the best family-friendly hotels make it as easy as possible to be away with children, but sadly we didn't find this to be the case at Jardin Tropical.Meal times were not great for our littlest. Lunch doesn't start until 12:30 (nap time) and dinner 6:30. There is supposed to be a pool food service from midday but we were told (by a very rude member of the bar staff) thatches was not the case and "did I think he was joking with me as he'd worked at the hotel 5 years and it had never been the case." The menu choices were also fairly limited for our (admittedly quite fussy) kids - the buffet was ok but the al la carte restaurants have no kids menu and some of them quite limited in terms of what most children will eat.The staff were mixed, some were fantastic and very helpful, others we found to be rude and uninterested. Our 1.5 year old has a severe egg allergy and the help we received from staff accommodating this was very mixed, on one occasion they prepared a special egg-free meal for him but most other times we were simply told the (very limited) things he could have off the menu. We also felt that many of the adult couples there were quite obviously frustrated by the children there - despite it being marketed as a family hotel and us being there in Easter school holidays (not necessarily the hotels fault but demonstrates that the hotel is a bit confused about whether it's really a family-friendly hotel or really a hotel aimed at adults that tolerates children).On top of this, we had to move rooms twice - the first time because we were put in adjoining rooms which were right by the beach bar next to the hotel with loud music pumping late into the night, not ideal with young children (though reception tried to tell us that some families like this), and second time because we had an awful sewerage smell in the bathroom - this tool several days and discussions with reception / guest services before they actually acknowledged there was a problem rather than just spraying some air freshener and telling us it was all fine. We finally moved to a great room for the last 2 nights.I don't usually write reviews, but we spent a lot of money on this hotel and I wanted to share our thoughts for anyone else considering going there with young children.
