Location

This hotel lies in a quiet location in La Paz, overlooking Puerto de la Cruz. The Botanical Gardens and restaurants are around 300 m away, a supermarket lies around 600 m away and the centre as well as the saltwater baths are roughly 2.5 km away. A bus shuttle service into the centre is available from Monday to Saturday midday.

Facility

190 non-smoking rooms are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by 4 lifts. Check-in and check-out are possible at any time at the 24-hour reception desk. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Dining facilities include a café and a bar. Guests can enjoy their meals in the cosy atmosphere of the 2 restaurants, which are equipped with high chairs. Half board can be booked. A generous breakfast buffet, a lunch à la carte and a comprehensive dinner buffet offer plenty of delicious variety. Special culinary options, such as vegetarian dishes, are also available.     We stayed for 17 days and loved everything about the Riu Garoe. The staff are very welcoming especially in the restaurant, they work hard and ensure everything is perfect. The housekeeping is excellent and standards for cleanliness is very high, not only in rooms but all around the hotel. The rooms are spacious and decor is lovely. There is plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. Mini fridge. The bathroom is beautiful with double wash basins and large shower with a door. Towels and bath robes were pure white ( for me this is a must). The pool is very well kept and a good system for allocating towels and sunbeds. The food is exceptional, so much choice. Very good breakfast with fruits, eggs cooked to order, rolls, croissants etc. Dinner also has great choices, beautiful salads, soups, cheeses, meats. Steak and fish cooked to order. Beautiful desserts. The pool bar/snack bar and main bar are really comfortable and great variety of cocktails. Evening entertainment. We always stay in the La Paz area and its a quiet, beautiful area. We didnt use the courtesy bus as we had a car. No problems parking on the street or on grounds adjacent to the hotel. We would definitely return to this hotel. Stayed in many hotels and apartments in Puerto for 40+ years and this is our favourite.     Lovely hotel in a quiet area

    This was our first time staying in Riu Garoe and what a lovely hotel this is. The staff are all very friendly and professional especially on reception. Our room was on the side of the hotel with a view of the mountain and partial sea view. The room itself was fairly large and the bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Bathroom was a decent size with bathrobes and 2 sinks. We were on a half board basis and the food was excellent, so much choice for everyone. They had a vegetarian corner and food was marked if you were gluten free. The only thing which could be improved upon was on the cooking stations where you had to wait for fish/meat to be cooked rather than have some cooked already. On some nights there was at least 6 or 7 people waiting for fish/meat to be cooked. The pool outside was lovely and warm. You never had to rush for a sunbed as there was always plenty available and you have a nice thick mattress placed on them. It is about a 25 minute walk to the centre of Puerto de la Cruz but within 10 to 15 mins there are bars and places to eat. The hotel is in a quiet area called La Paz. There is a small supermarket almost next door and a larger one within a 10 minute walk. We will definitely return to this hotel so if you are thinking of booking go ahead as I don’t think you will be disappointed.     Still wonderful

    Back again to this wonderful hotel. When you have visited a place a few times there is always the worry that things won’t be as good but not here.The staff are excellent. They are friendly, professional and take pride in their work and hotel. Any member of staff you cross paths with smiles and says hello. The half board is great value. The food is delicious and there is so much choice that anyone could find something that they wanted to eat and enjoy. It was very crowded on a couple of nights we were there as it was a holiday weekend but we still got a table in our favourite area and the food options never ran out! The location is away from the main area of Puerto but it is a pleasant 30 minute stroll down to the historic centre (a bit more coming back as it is all up hill!). It is about 7 or 8 minutes from the Botanical Gardens which are beautiful. This also means it is a very peaceful area.There is plenty of free parking near the hotel.Things have changed over the years but the heart of this hotel is right where it should be. We’ll be back!     A nice 4 star hotel. The half board is very good. Breakfast starts at 08.00 but if you let the know the day before you can have it earlier. Drop in on dinner from 18.00.The pool is nice and we swam every morning early.Check in was ok but our room was not good, we emidietly got a new one. The room is ok but lack thet little extra. You get schampoo and soap. Bo conditioner, no water, safe costs extra. Not even a shoehorn....Beds are ok but pillows terrible, bring your own uf you can. Cleaning is perfect, we are very pleased.Gym awful in the basement...We did play tennis wich was great, you can borrow rackets and balls.This is a good 4 star hotel with 5 star meals!
