  A soulful stay in one of Tenerife’s most beautiful towns

  Our stay at Isla Baja Suites in Garachico in November 2025 was everything we hoped for—and more.Garachico is an absolutely gorgeous town, rich in history and charm, and the hotel’s location next to the natural volcanic pools makes it truly special. There’s a sense of calm and authenticity here that’s increasingly rare.The suites are elegant, spacious, and thoughtfully curated—comfortable without feeling overdone. Breakfast was fresh, light, and beautifully prepared, setting the tone for slow, relaxed mornings.What made the experience truly memorable was Laura Bier, the host. She is warm, attentive, and deeply human—our conversations with her were heartfelt and meaningful, making us feel less like guests and more like returning friends.We stayed for three nights, and it felt like a genuine reset from London life. Isla Baja Suites is not just a place to stay—it’s a place to breathe. We already look forward to coming back.

  Promising but disappointing experience

  We stayed in room 6 the Attic which is very large and spacious, more an apartment than a hotel room. It was well furnished, comfortable and enjoyable to stay in for a few days. The building is a restored and preserved original Canarian wood mansion and its great that these buildings are being preserved and used. Where else will you find 14 inch wide floorboards. The wooden ceilings in other rooms are amazing. Having said all that there are downsides. The hotel being only 6 rooms is not staffed by management daily, there are cleaners and laundry personnel on site but management seems to be remote. Breakfast is supplied by a separate business running a patisserie in the alcove during the day, It's ok, varied but nothing special. Our room was spacious and comfortable but being Sea View was exposed to the road noise which you have to accept, it's not too bad but don't expect silence, there's a music school next door too. The room really needs a very good clean, every chrome surface from the kettle to the shower needs descaling and polishing. After 2 days we noticed an infestation of ( we were told ) wood eating moths. We could see the eggs in piles on the floor in several areas. The management were not very forthcoming about the exact species causing the the problem despite being aware. We hope we didn't bring home any eggs in our luggage. Our concerns about this were dismissed and the owner was not transparent about the issue.Garachico is a lovely place to visit for a few days.

  Very charming but…

  Very nice and cosy room. Very typical of the canarian islands with lot of charm. Huge space : more a flat than a room. However avoid sea view as it is overlooking the noisy road as well. No lift. Too early check out (11am) and breakfast (10am). Average breakfast. Not a wide choice and served in closed coffe shop downstairs (don’t expect outside view). No courtesy water in the room.

  NOT FOR EVERYONE - which is good - cos more space for the rest of us ! Fantastically large room on 1st floor with great furnishings , kitchen and shower room.Our room was a conversion of an original public room in this Mansion House. Original wooden features are spectacular especially 3 double-height door/windows and a complex wooden ceiling that could just not be thought up !Breakfast is provided via the patisserie downstairs and is adequate. House-keeping was good. Value was excellent. The owner was very helpful with arrival and info.ISSUES : road noise - to be expected with location. Don’t expect silence.Smell from drains in shower room. Heavy scent used to help. Keep shower room closed and it was fine - longer stay and I would have minded more.WiFi - excellent.If you have stayed at a tourist resort hotel (as we had) and long for a bit of Canarian culture - this is ideal. Garachico is a great place to stay for a few nights.

  Spectacular rooms, kind owner

  We really loved this place. It's in a beautiful old building and the rooms are huge with the most spectacular cielings. Breakfast is courtesy of a cafe based in the downstairs courtyard, and I had lovely spanish omelette sandwiches every morning plus choice of fruit and cakes. I need to give a special shout out to the extremely kind hotel owner, Conrado, who drove me around various medical facilities in the vicinity of Garachico after I was struck down with a bout of gasteroenteritis. Definitely going beyond the call of duty!
