Location

This hotel is ideally situated directly beside the sea, some 20 m from the beach, with a view of the bay of the old fishing port of Los Cristianos. Shopping venues are located roughly 500 m from the hotel and public transport departs from a stop that lies just 600 m away. The Tenerife South Airport is some 15 km away and Tenerife North Airport is 90 km away.

Facility

The hotel has 391 rooms, which are located on 6 storeys and are reachable by 6 lifts. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Rooms

    Lovely stay

    This is a really lovely hotel, staff, food, friendliness, rooms are all excellent. Pool area is very nice and the reserving of sunbeds is quite well monitored, although we did feel that some regular visitors who known how the system works were able to abuse it, also some sun canopies do require some maintenance. The hotel is situated at the very far end of Los Cristianos so quite a good walk especially for the older visitors to walk so lots of guests seem to hire mobility scooters. If l had one main criticism of the hotel it was with the evening entertainment, there is plenty of entertainment however mostly the music played by the acts tended to be disco, looking around at the average age group of people staying in the hotel it tends to be 70 + , the result was no one was getting up to have a dance, perhaps the acts that preform there would be better to play a few waltzes, foxtrots, rumbas etc, the dance floor is very small however it would have been nice to have a little dance in the evening.     Still a great hotel. Will return again.

    6th visit to this hotel, but it's 2 years since we were there. It has not changed its still a wonderful hotel. Food excellent, the salad selection is the best we have experienced anywhere, and the selection of other courses are varied. Pool area is also excellent with plenty of beds around even if down late. Bar service very good as is the pool bar. We had a room on the 6th floor overlooking the sea with a beautiful vista. Overall just a great holiday and we will be back sooner rather than later. Staff, reception, dining room staff all friendly. Congratulations to the Arona team with special mention for the Head Chef and his team.     Enjoyable second visit

    Having enjoyed a 2 week holiday here last year we decided to do it again, this time we decided not to purchase the UP package. We lasted a week before giving in and upgrading. Not for the food and drink - we’re not big drinkers and I’m a picky eater - more for the ability to find a quiet sunbed. The beds by the main pool are far too close together for us; people face timing family, aerobics classes, towels on beds from 7am…my husband was constantly irritated. There is a policy of removing towels between 9 and 10 but personally I think they should be removed before 9. It seems reasonable to me to put your towel down, go for breakfast then come back, from 9. Many of us on holiday don’t want to be up at 7 and getting breakfast. UP doesn’t open until 10 so is far more relaxed and no claiming of beds. We also weighed up the cost of what we were spending through the day on lunch, coffee, water and found that we spent half the cost of UP so paying the extra bit for the quieter area, soft towels, nice seating area and views was worth it to us. It would be nice to have help with umbrellas as they are taken apart when not in use and many of the customers are getting on a bit and struggle to lift them. We had room 342 which was right outside the lift and stairwell. We liked it! Can be a bit noisy particularly at 8 but we were never disturbed when sleeping. Rooms are kept very clean and serviced at a reasonable time. We did have to chase for body wash when it ran out and ended up with 2 shampoos. We never came back to the room to find it unserviced. My husband was cold as I have to have the air conditioning on but there was a blanket in the wardrobe - once used housekeeping made it up in his bed which was nice. Pillows were very uncomfortable so we requested extra pillows at 1€ each per night! Just buy some new pillows! You have to pay 40€ for the safe, unless like us you are a returning guest! (Also as a returning guest you can get 15% off your final drinks bill but we weren’t told this - a friend told me). The tv was hit and miss and would turn itself off or lose the signal if you walked past it. The buffet was pretty good; my husband enjoyed the fresh fish every night. Some food was not hot enough and one night I had meat that started warm and one side was distinctly cold - as though it had not been heated thoroughly. This concerned me. My husband had sweetcorn which was still completely frozen. We ate out every third night so we didn’t get bored. We enjoyed the entertainment in the hall, in fact it was one of the reasons we came back. Shame you no longer have the wonderful Elvis tribute. I read someone else really slate the entertainment and was surprised but I guess it shows we all have different expectations. As hotel entertainment goes, even the singers before the main act were mostly good and certainly better than many hotels we’ve stayed in. Bar service out on the patio is frustrating and you often have to go in and find someone. In the hall, once you realise only the one person in a waist coat can take orders you learn to grab their attention and service is better. We enjoy Los Christianos and walked to Playa de las Americas for more shops and restaurants. All in all another enjoyable holiday. We may well be back.     A different holiday this time.

    Fourth visit to this lovely hotel. Unfortunately this time our visit was not the best due to me twisting my foot while out walking on the third day of our holiday which resulted in a fractured foot. I spent the rest of our holiday in a cast having to use a wheelchair and crutches. The staff at the Arona were very kind and helpful giving us extra pillows, shower seat etc straight away. We were also helped in arranging wheelchair hire by Anthony at guest services. The hotel is lovely and the food was excellent as always. When dining at breakfast and dinner the manager Arsenio was always helpful in finding us a suitable table for me to use. Pool and public areas well kept and clean. Our room was a sea view and the lovely sunsets on there cheered me up. One small gripe is the continual reserving of sunbeds by 7am by some guests almost everyday. A big thank you to everyone who helped during our stay and hope to return for a better holiday soon.
