This elegant hotel is situated directly by the sea, on the Paseo Marítimo promenade in Puerto de la Cruz, opposite the well-known seawater swimming pool complex, Lago Martiánez. Guests may pay a visit to the small beach, Playa Martiánez, just 500 m from the hotel. The popular Plaza del Charco is only 700 m from the hotel. The hotel is well situated for access to the public transport network with stops located directly in front of the hotel.

Facility

The hotel has 325 rooms, including 15 single rooms and 145 double rooms, which are located on 5 storeys and are reachable by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park (for a fee). Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service, a coin-operated laundry and a hotel shuttle bus. A projector is available for guests' business needs.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the sea view from a balcony or terrace. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Children's beds and extra beds can be requested for younger guests. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a refrigerator included among the standard features. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. A hairdryer and a telephone are provided in the bathrooms, which include a shower and a bathtub. As a special feature, bathrooms are also stocked with cosmetic products and a selection of towels. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The hotel has non-smoking rooms.

Sport

The outdoor pool complex provides invigorating refreshment. A hot tub invites guests to soothe their muscles, and a poolside snack bar will take care of any hungry bellies. Sun loungers and parasols are available on the sun terrace. Leisure activities and facilities at the hotel include golf, a gym, table tennis and a solarium or, for a fee, billiards. A dance club offers fun and entertainment.

Meals

Various dining options are available, including a restaurant with air conditioning, a café and a bar. Catering options include half board and full board. A generous breakfast buffet, a lunch à la carte and a comprehensive dinner buffet offer plenty of delicious variety. Staff are also happy to provide children's meals.

    4.95 STARS....some minor issues but not serious enough to remove a star.There is a lot of external noise. My room overlooked the side street and in the evening the restaurant opposite closes between 11 & midnight and make an awful lot of noise in the process and in the morning around 6:30am, they're back preparing for opening. There are also a lot of people passing by having loud conversations and in the morning early deliveries to the hotel happen. I understand the hotel has no control over this but a solution would be to install soundproofing of the balcony door.My only other concern is the combined bath and shower. I'm a small person and had difficulty climbing in and out of the bath to shower as it is very high.What I like about the hotel is the comfort, the spaciousness of our room. The breakfast buffet is excellent and finally the wonderful location and the friendliness of all the hardworking staff.     Location of hotel excellent. Rooftop swimming pool and bar super. Hotel cleanliness super. Now the negatives. Although breakfast good evening meals pretty average. Staff in restaurant from top to bottom require serious training in dealing with clients. Despite signs about taking food from restaurant this was blatantly breached without any staff intervention. I was a solo traveller and on approx ,20 per cent of occasions at meals my table was cleared when I returned from buffet Rooms were quite dated and are falling well behind other similar rated hotels. Note there is no hotel entertainment. On the sun terrace the sun loungers should be consigned to museum they were old metal where the height adjusters were mostly broken. In all seriousness what would it take to purchase a dozen new modern sun loungers!     Disappointing for a 4-star hotel – disrespectful staff and unclear rules

    The hotel itself is beautiful and the location is excellent, but my experience has been far from what I expect from a 4-star property.I booked through a travel agency (whose job is to inform guests about hotel policies), but at no point was I warned that smoking is practically banned everywhere. For many people, that’s not a small detail, and it should have been communicated clearly during booking.Until yesterday there was a small corner at the pool with ashtrays where guests could enjoy a coffee or a drink. Today even that has been prohibited. Meanwhile, drinks from the restaurant are served in glassware, but the lifeguard suddenly decided to enforce a “plastic-only” rule at the pool. To make matters worse, his behavior was unprofessional and rude – he even raised his voice at me, which is completely unacceptable in a hotel of this category and price range.For the amount charged, I expected consistency in rules, professional and courteous staff, and above all, respect for guests. Right now, smokers are treated like second-class citizens.     Wonderful break at the Valle Mar

    I stayed at Valle Mar 28th April for 5 days with my sister, our 3rd visit to the hotel. We had garden facing rooms, lovely large balcony, comfortable beds and pillows. Fabulous staff, food excellent and Roof top bar and pool was wonderful....Hector was always smiling! Traditional hotel so don't expect entertainment, but everything is on the doorstep, Cafe de Paris was great. We thought some guests did not dress appropriately for dinner (jeans and tee-shirts!) Such a shame when all the staff in the restaurant were so smartly turned out. But that's not the hotels fault. Looking forward to our next holiday at Valle Mar!J. Town and J. Phillips.     We could not get a room for 5 weeks from first of Febuary as fully booked direct or via internet.But we have used the roof resteraunt and bar many times and would like to say how fantastic the food is with your new Chef and also the exemplary service from your Staff, and thanks to Phillipe who has served us for many years on our holidays.Thanks for the many great Lunches past and present.
