  Very Good!

  We first visited Hostal de la Trucha 25 years ago with our children. We thought that it was a cozy, quaint hotel, situated in the beautiful Maestrazgo. After our repeat visit, we feel the same. The hotel was very busy the weekend we stayed, but we were pleased with the friendly and efficient service that the staff offered us. The hotel is a rural hotel and the ambiance here is special. We had full board and we found the food quite good and home made. Our only suggestion would be to provide a bit more of variety for the breakfast buffet.Nonetheless, we found everything very good!   Visit to Pitarque "Shangri-la" valley

  La Trucha is a classic hotel, in an amazing labyrinth of a building that was at one time (17th century?) a royal paper money printing press. The stay evokes memories of the Paradores of the early '70's, and the staff can be as helpful and friendly as is the norm in Spain. Make sure that you ask for a tour, because the building has a few cool surprises. This is not yet another hotel doing a shoddy job of trying to be contemporary (although there is WiFi.)   rooms are large and comfortable but this is part of a hotel group and totally impersonal. Some of our party could not get hot water...the food was bland and sparse....service was poor. An impressive building but it takes more than a building to make a hotel

  I booked 2 nights here because i mainly wanted a stop off on my way back from a Holiday in another part of Teruel.The previous reviews are not exactly raving about the place & i felt therefore i was taking a bit of a chance! However,i am glad i booked,the 2 nights were very reasonable for a 3 star Hotel.(Do not be put off by the Hostal title) and the experience was a very pleasant one.OK it was out of the main season & all their Services ie Pool etc.. were not operating & there were a few guys on site painting etc...,but i just wanted and got,comfortable quiet accommodation in a beautiful country location.The setting is magic,on the banks of a small river,surrounded by Aragon nature and impressive mountains.You are a bit captive, as the nearest Villages are around 4 to 5 Kilometers away on bendy mountain roads,but then again,i think this makes the place more attractive.Main set meals were only 15 Euros including wine or you could order from the menu (Local Trout & Lamb were on the set menu) Breakfast only 6 Euros.The Manager,Luis,even arranged for Eggs & Bacon on our last morning.(with fresh eggs from his local chickens).The room was clean,beds cosy & overlooked the wooded river valley.I arrived from the Villarluengo direction & it should be noted that the Hotel is located well past the Village.A Spanish phrase book will be needed here if you do not speak any Spanish.Parking is free on site and lots of walks nearby if,like us,you like walking.
