    Not very welcoming.

    rating11 Sept 2025

Indifferent welcome, indifferent on departure, tiny box room with matchbox TV. The shower however was very good! I know it’s only three stars, but we got much warmer welcomes on all of the motorway service stops through France and Spain. Location for the town centre is very good.

Toledo is where the past meets the present.

A visit to Toledo should definitely be on your list of places to visit in Spain. The City of Three Cultures sits on a hill, surrounded on three sides by the River Tagus, attesting to the old adage that location is everything. The Roman historian, Livy (a.59 BCE-17CE) mentioned it as being a small city but fortified by location. The three cultures being of course, Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The evidence of these cultures are found all over the old city. Indeed, it is the influence of these cultures and the structures that they left behind, that were instrumental in Toledo being inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986. Today, it is a lively city, its streets and squares filled with residents mingling with tourists. We booked Hotel Medina de Toledo without really knowing how close it lay to the Historic Center of Toledo. We were pleased to see that it actually lies within the walls in the outer perimeter. You are just ca. 100 meters from the Aparcamiento Miradero (Parking), from which there is an escalator that leads you right up to the actual town. The hotel website states that you are a four minute walk from the Puerta del Sol City Gate and Plaza de Zocodover. A five minute walk from Puerta Bisagra Gate, seven minutes from the Alcazar and ten minutes from Toledo Cathedral. Tops on location. This small hotel has 18 rooms arranged on three floors. Because the hotel is located on an incline, the lobby is located on the top floor, but is on street level. The hotel staff are very friendly, in fact we greeted by the owner of the facility and were treated very well. The hotel advertises that multi languages are spoken, Spanish, Portuguese, English, French and Italian. As the hotel basically sits into the hill, the rooms face out to the back and have a great view of the lower city, in what I think is a north direction. The rooms are clean and comfortable, air-conditioned, there is also free wifi. Non-smoking rooms are available. Breakfast, available for a nominal fees, is delicious and can be eaten out on a lovely, scenic terrace. There is also free parking available on the street and if you are lucky, right out in front of the lobby. We can easily recommend staying at the Hotel Medina de Toledo and if we are back in the area, will do so again.PS. We would like to pass along the recommendation of El Trebol Tapas Bar as a good place to eat. Also, don't forget to buy some Marzipan, as Toledo is well known for this treat.

Well located but very small beds

    rating24 Jun 2023

Charming well located hotel close the main city and train station. Room was nice with view over the city however the big downside was the size of the bed. It was a double bed and too much other furniture in the room. Bed was comfortable so that helped but really a good size for 2 people unless you are dwarves. Hotel receptionist was terrific and so helpful. The lady in breakfast area is not friendly, over busy and couldn't give us 2 coffees at the bar and demanded we sit at a table. It's a shame as little details can go a long way to make this a good place to stay.

A conveniently situated hotel with great staff.

    rating16 May 2023

If you are visiting Toledo for a few nights, this is an excellent hotel. The heart of the city of Toledo is up a steep hill. This hotel is situated half way up the hill and 5 minutes walk from escalators that take you up the hill to the city centre or down the hill to the coach stop. It’s easy to return to the hotel during the day if you want a rest and then easily go back into the city centre. The rooms have lovely views over the lower city and the staff are friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfasts sitting on the narrow terrace.

A recently renovated hotel conveniently located very close to the old town

    rating22 Feb 2023

The hotel must've undergone extensive renovation in recent years as the furniture looks new. Our room was cozy but adequate for a short stay. It has a French balcony with an unobstructed view of the new town. The hotel is conveniently located between the bus terminal and the old town. Using the escalator system, all attractions are easily accessible from the hotel. The continental breakfast is freshly prepared by the staff upon your order, and the staff are very friendly.
