    Basic but comfy

    rating12 Sept 2023

I made a list of pros and cons .horrible smell coming from air conditioning.on a main road in an industrial estate, however the transport to city is good and a short walk to metro stations..most of the staff are lovely and speak English..beds are so comfortable and room is clean and quiet if the window is closed..bathroom needs an upgrade and there was no hot water. Bring your own toiletries as non are provided..No kettle in room but has a fridge ?!. Has a pool..breakfast was continental but doesn't meet the price, wouldn't recommend. The hotel is making improvements, it appears they were hit hard by the pandemic and only just starting to bounce back. If you like walking and need somewhere to rest your head after a long day then this hotel would be perfect for you. Bad experience Hotel Ciscar

    rating10 Sept 2023

During our stay in hotel Ciscar we suffered from a not working aircondition on 11 and 12 august 2023. This was a serious problem as it was very hot in the rooms (could not sleep). In the morning we filed a complaint at the reception and we were offered a free breakfast. However, this was already included in the price of our room (and so was the airconditioning!). Result: no compensation, no communication (after several emails)!! Bad experience! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL

    rating13 Aug 2023

We booked to stay in the hotel for 7 nights in August 2023 but ended up leaving after 4 horrible nights and booking elsewhere in Valencia, so horrific the experience was.Firstly, there are 200 refugees in the hotel. No one told us about this beforehand - if they did, we wouldn't have stayed. We support refugees fully and pleased to see action taken to help them. However, you can't run a hotel and ask paying guests to share amenities with refugees. It isn't fair on the guests and not fair on the refugees - as they aren't allowed to use pool etc but watch you doing it. Very uncomfortable.Overcrowded - max capacity in hotel previously was 200. Now there are 200 refugees (4 beds put in each room that normally hold x2 beds max) plus puaimg guests. Sewage system and air con system clearly couldn't handle it as both broke - the place was incredibly warm and smelled badly. I think they are in breach of a number of regulations including fire safety, as there was far too many people in the hotel.Public areas were untidy and tired. Pool area dirty, pool always had dirt in the water and never anyone coming out to clean. Public toilets were disgusting, stains all over them and no one cleaned them. Cockroaches in terrace area at front of hotel that were never removed or cleanedProstitutes walking outside hotel at 11am - disgusting and clearly working the area.Couple had sex in pool yesterday right in front of us and our 4 year old daughter. She even said 'Mummy that man is moving that lady's knickers'. HorrifiedStaff (aside from B and one other nice receptionist) were horrible in terms of attitude and unwillingness to do anything. There was never anyone in the cafe so you had to press a button to call them. They acted like it was the worst thing ever to serve peopleNo air conditioning for 4 days - we were put in a new room for the first days, which clearly wasn't finished. Each night, our room averaged 32 degrees in heat. It was unbearable we didn't get any sleepDoor to our room was left wide open for all of 2nd day - as people were in trying to fix air con, but also cleaning and trying to repair beds. We had no safe, so all our valuables, money, clothes, etc. were on display and could have been stolenAll in all, it was a thoroughly horrific and miserable experience. Not being informed by staff / owners at the time of booking that the hotel is also being used to house refugees was inexcusable. Small consolation was that we managed to get our money back.

    Basic but lovely!

    rating29 Jul 2019

If you travel to Valencia, give this lovely place a try. It is not 5*, but nevertheless a little gem just outside of the city centre. Since it is a bit remote, it is recommended to hire a car. There is plenty of parking space outside. The rooms are bright and spacious, spotless clean and there is a beautiful garden with a small pool outside. Breakfast was very good and all the staff was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile! Would definitely come back!

NOT CUT OUT TO BE A HOTEL AT ALL!

    rating12 Mar 2018

I stayed at this hotel for a few days on business and was shocked. It is not a 3 star status hotel - maybe 2 at best. Maybe it earned its 3 stars because of the pool. I'm going to list the bad points then the good. 1. It is in the middle of nowhere on an industrial site with only a tiny town of Picanya 10 mins walk away. 2. Locatios in poor in relation to Valencia City. Metro 10-15 minute walk from hotel and then 20-30 minutes ride plus waiting time 3. The communal areas of the hotel are freezing! Not heated in January! Our group wore coats in meetings 4. The communal areas are not lit, including the main stairway. You have to ask the staff to put the lights on!5. The status that this is a business hotel is ridiculous since the maximum internet speed is 0.85mbps - they claim it to be 1.5mbps - the very minimum for business purposes should be 30mbps! Also the event space is inadequately equipped. 6. Cold, hostile atmosphere throughout the communal and even areas due to the use of cold, white, harsh lighting (everything is all about saving money and it shows!)7. Restaurant - not a restaurant at all - barely a cafe. Following the experience in the breakfast room, we never tried to use the cafe. There was a vending machine for chocolate but that was broken most of the time. Everyone bought cold food from the supermarket 8. Bar? It is not a bar! It is the restaurant counter - behind which they sell alcoholic beverages. 9. Breakfast experience was the worst I have ever known. The food and drink available was inedible in my opinion. Atmosphere was cold in both senses of the word - the room was freezing. Bread, bread and more bread - all stale. Bowl of chopped tomatoes which looked as if they were poured from a tin. Cold, dry looking ham, salami and a very few thin dry clices of pineapple and melon - every sign of cutting costs. Even the utensils to pick up the food were cheap and didn't work. Croissants were OK and there were about 3 varieties of cakes and pastries. One tray of very fatty bacon which every day was totally cold and the worst example of scrambled egg which was cold, rubbery and hard. (The 'hot' plate was mostly turned off - it didn't heat the eggs and bacon one bit)-Another obvious money saving tactic! Hot drinks were 2 machines of various coffees - unbelievable! Every one we tried was totally undrinkable - didn't even taste like coffee - every member of our group felt the same. The waitresses were very stressed as they were expected to run the whole breakfast alone (another obvious money saving tactic) and rushed about. You have to sit only in a special part of the room so to save the waiters walking too far from the buffet - I expect because there was no other reason. Diners tried to sit just 1 table out of the 'zone' and even while they were holding plates and cups were told to move - ridiculout. We paid for breakfast but went hungry every day. 10. The bthroom tissue and bathroom accessories were cheap and almost useless. 11. Beds are hard 12. No tea/coffee facilities in rooms 13. No phone in rooms not even to dial to reception 14. The Manager has his family with him in an apartment in the corridors of the guests room - he left the door open - it's like a scene from The Shining inside and the smell of his cooking wafts through the corridors 15. Overall this hotel showed a long list of stingy, scrimping tactics to cut costs. GOOD: 1. Room rate was good but you do need to think of the cost of the metro/taxi and eating out 2. There is a large supermarket 5 minutes walk away 3. The staff are all very friendly and as helpful as they can be with so few facilities to offer 4. The entire hotel is exceptionally clean 5. The bed and bath linens are good quality, clean and in excellent condition 6. The room service is very good 7. Excellent responsive cooling/heating control in the bedrooms 8. Quiet rooms - couldn't hear next door etc 9. Unlimited hot water 10. Each room has bath AND shower 11. Pretty garden and very nice outdoor pool - lovely garden furniture Summary: If you are looking for clean, nice staff on a low budget then this would suffice but that is about it. It is NOT close to Valencia City and the town of Picanya is NOT interesting. I imagine the summer months are better here but whether they would use a/c in the communal areas, I don't know. Finally:I honestly do not understand the positive rating on here! Not with the wildest stretch of the imagintion would I ever consider staying at a Sercotel property again.
