    Super location

    rating01 May 2026

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Melia Plaza Valencia and the main plus is the superb location, on the Plaza de Ayuntamiento, the main square in the city, a stones throw from the Old Town and another beautiful square, Plaza de la Reina. Lots of great architecture close by, many eateries and bus stops for the excellent public transport. The hotel has an inviting lounge with cafe and a restaurant next door and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.Reception seemed a bit hectic with staff a bit unsure of certain information such as breakfast times etc.The Premium room we had, was spacious and comfortable, befitting a 4-star hotel. The breakfast room is in the basement and a bit dingy, the buffet a bit limited in terms of choice of coffee and cheeses for a 4-star hotel. Friendly staff at breakfast, but a bit overrun at times, the coffee machines were faulty on a couple of occasions and they were rushed off their feet with other jobs, guests having to try to fix the machines. We would definitely return, Valencia is a brilliant city and the hotel perfect for whatever you need. Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Atención al cliente/recepción at Melia Plaza, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a comprehensive and detailed review of your stay at Meliá Plaza Valencia. We are delighted to hear that you had a wonderful experience and that you particularly highlighted our excellent location, ideal for exploring the city’s main attractions, as well as the comfort of your room and the friendliness of our team.We also appreciate your constructive feedback, as it helps us to continue improving. We regret that upon your arrival, the service at reception was not as efficient and clear as you might have expected, and we apologise for the issues you encountered with the breakfast service. We have taken note of your comments regarding the organisation, the variety of the buffet and the operation of the coffee machines; these are areas we will work on to offer a more complete experience in line with our standards. We are pleased to hear that, despite these minor issues, you would consider visiting us again, and we would be delighted to welcome you back to ensure an even more satisfying stay.Best Regards, Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Assistant Manager.

    Do not travel by car

    rating28 Apr 2026

Finding the hotel by car was quite challenging due to the one-way system, so I wouldn’t recommend arriving by car if possible.Parking is available, but at £22 per day it does feel expensive. On the positive side, the hotel is very centrally located, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Unfortunately, our room faced the back, so the view wasn’t the best.Overall, a convenient stay location-wise, with great staff — but a few practical drawbacks to consider. Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Atención al cliente/recepción at Melia Plaza, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you very much for sharing your experience and for highlighting such positive aspects as our excellent location, as well as the friendliness and professionalism of our team. We are delighted to hear that, overall, you enjoyed your stay with us.We regret the difficulties you encountered when trying to access the hotel by car. As we are situated right in the heart of Plaza del Ayuntamiento, a very central and highly pedestrianised area, access can be challenging at times. We appreciate your understanding in this regard. We have also taken note of your comments regarding the view from the room and the car park, as they help us to continue improving our guests’ experience. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future.Best Regards,Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Assistant Manager.

Great stay unfortunately spoiled by check out experience

    rating04 Mar 2026

I stayed at the Melia Plaza for three nights as a base for exploring the city on holiday.CHECK INStaff at check in couldn’t have been nicer. They were really helpful, taking their time to welcome me, and offering to help me sort any plans I wished to make while in town or answer any questions I had about València. They created a really warm, welcoming impression of the hotel.ROOMI booked a Grand Premium Plaza View room for my stay. It was really large and spacious, with a large, comfortable bed, a table and chairs, and what looked like a small sofa bed, although that was quite tight in beside the bed. There was a Nespresso style coffee machine, a mini bar (chargeable) and snacks (also chargeable). The bathroom was at the other end of the room’s short corridor, with the sink in an area open to the rest of the room, and the enclosed toilet and shower off to either side. The best bit about the room was definitely the balcony overlooking the Plaza Ayuntamiento - it was the perfect spot for an early morning coffee!BREAKFASTI’d read a couple of complaints about breakfast being in a basement room without windows. While that’s true, it really didn’t bother me. I thought the hotel had done a good job of being creative with decor to make the space welcoming and comfortable.Staff at breakfast were lovely, and there was a good selection of pastries, cold meats and cheese, fruit and yogurt and hot items such as sausage, chorizo, bacon and egg.HOTEL AMBIENCESome reviews have mentioned the hotel feels dated in places. I honestly didn’t feel this about my room - I thought it was perfect really for my needs. While reception and the lobby area looks slightly old fashioned, perhaps, I felt this actually added to the hotel’s charm, and liked it!FACILITIESThere aren’t many other facilities to write about - a sign in the lift said the solarium on the 11th floor was closed, so I’m not sure if that also applied to the gym and small sauna.CHECK OUTI’d had such a great stay at the Melia, and was keen to pass this on to staff, however my experience completely unravelled at checkout. I had a train to catch, but despite leaving plenty of time to get to the station, I began to get nervous when I saw a queue of five people ahead of me at check out. We all waited twenty minutes while one member of staff served a man, another was busy typing on a computer and occasionally also dealing with the customer at the desk, while another member of staff seemed to just be staring at the line of people waiting and walking about behind the reception desk. There was no apology nor did staff seem to be making any effort to try and deal with the queue quickly - instead we just all had to wait while the three members of staff either helped the one customer or generally looked around.By the time I got to the desk, I explained I was just looking to check out and I was worried about missing a train I had to catch. I also explained I’d already paid for my room. I was maybe a bit stressed but I definitely was polite and not rude! The lady offered no apology for the wait, tapped on her keyboard and looked at me and just said “Bye!”. I just had to look at her in disbelief before leaving. After such a wonderful stay the whole experience meant my lasting impression of the hotel ended up being a negative one and I’m not sure I’d return as a result. Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Guest Services / Front Office at Melia Plaza, responded to this review Dear Mr. Miller,Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your stay with us. We truly appreciate the care you put into describing every aspect of the hotel, and it means a lot to our team to read your kind words about the warm welcome at check‑in, the comfort of your room, the breakfast experience and the charm you found in our hotel’s ambience. At the same time, we would like to sincerely apologise for what happened during your check‑out. Unfortunately, you encountered a moment of significant pressure and stress for the team, with several departures occurring at the same time, and we did not handle the situation as we should have. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, especially after you had enjoyed such a pleasant stay with us.We have already addressed this situation with our reception team to ensure it does not happen again. Please accept our deepest apologies for the lack of attentiveness, the delay, and the absence of an appropriate response from our staff. You were absolutely right to expect a smoother and more considerate check‑out experience as we usually do.We truly hope that this unfortunate moment has not overshadowed the rest of your stay and that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. It would be our pleasure to ensure your next visit is excellent from beginning to end.Best Regards,Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Assistant Manager.

Perfect Location for a City Break

    rating21 Feb 2026

We have just returned from a very comfortable 3 night stay at the Melia Plaza in the centre of Valencia. It was in a perfect location, close to all the sights we wanted to visit, good restaurants and even close to the railway station for our onward trip to Gandia. Our room was super modern with a large double bed, an efficient rain shower with Rituals toiletries and a small terrace with 2 very comfortable sunbeds which we enjoyed for a short time after a long session of walking around the various sights. Breakfast was varied with fresh fruits and cooked foods as well as bread and pastries etc. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an enjoyable stay in Valencia. Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Guest Services / Front Office at Melia Plaza, responded to this review Dear Ms. Ellis,Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your three‑night stay, our unbeatable central location, the comfort and modern design of your room, and the amenities such as the rain shower, Rituals toiletries, and the terrace with sunbeds. It is also wonderful to hear that our breakfast selection and the overall quality of your stay contributed to such a positive visit to Valencia. We truly appreciate all your kind comments about the hotel and your recommendation to other travellers. It means a great deal to us.It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Meliá Plaza on your next visit to Valencia.Best Regards,Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Assistant Manager.

Not the Meliá Standard I Expected

    rating03 Feb 2026

Having stayed at the Meliá in Tenerife, I was really looking forward to my stay at Meliá Valencia. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the Meliá standard, and I would not recommend this hotel.Check-inWe arrived early and were told that if we wanted to use our room before 3 p.m., there would be an additional €25 charge. The frustrating part was that the room was already prepared and assigned to us, yet we were still denied access unless we paid extra. I could understand such a policy if the hotel were busy, but in this case, it felt unnecessary and disappointing.Additionally, the handling of luggage did not seem secure. Bags were kept in front of the reception area rather than in a back room, and no ticket or identification system was used. This made me uncomfortable, as anyone could have claimed our belongings.FacilitiesOne of the reasons I booked this hotel was to use the gym and jacuzzi, only to find that the gym was under renovation and the jacuzzi had been removed for over two years. This information was not mentioned during booking. Had I known, I would have chosen a different hotel.Staff Helpfulness and AttitudeStaff were polite but generally unhelpful and lacked local knowledge. When I asked for activity recommendations, they couldn’t provide any suggestions. When I enquired about possible spa options at another Meliá location, I was simply told the name of the hotel and advised to look it up myself. Even a small effort like offering to check availability or providing a brochure would have made a big difference. A more welcoming attitude such as a simple “hello” or “how is your stay?” would have been appreciated.Breakfast ExperienceThe breakfast service was particularly disappointing. The person managing the breakfast area was not friendly and never greeted guests. Each morning, she would come around to inform us of the breakfast finishing time, which changed daily. We stayed from Saturday to Tuesday, and while we were told breakfast finished at 11 a.m. on several days (including Monday), on Tuesday we were suddenly told 10:30 a.m. The inconsistency and the repeated reminders made it feel like they were eager for us to leave rather than wanting us to enjoy our meal. The food quality also left a lot to be desired. The hot breakfast looked unappetizing and seemed to have been sitting out far too long, so I stuck to cereal and bread. This is definitely not the place to go if you’re looking for a nice Irish breakfast. On multiple mornings, there were no bowls available, and I had to ask for some only for her to bring out a small number each time. Items such as bread often ran out and were not replenished promptly. I believe she was managing everything alone, which was not practical. There should be at least one additional staff member to greet guests, check room numbers, and ensure tables and food stations are maintained properly. Our last morning was particularly disappointing and felt spoiled by the abrupt interaction with the breakfast staff. When we mentioned the issue to reception, they simply replied that “on weekdays it finishes at 10:30,” which did not explain why it had been 11 a.m. the previous morning. The lack of concern or willingness to address our feedback made the experience even more frustrating.Final Thoughts and LocationOverall, this stay was disappointing and far below the quality I expected from the Meliá brand. The location is convenient and central about a 30-minute walk to the City of Arts and Sciences but considering the service and management issues, I would recommend choosing a different hotel, even one slightly farther out, as transport options like Uber are excellent and affordable in Valencia. Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Guest Services / Front Office at Melia Plaza, responded to this review Dear Ms. Hartnett, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly regret that your stay did not meet your expectations or the standards we aim to maintain at Meliá Plaza Valencia. We fully understand the inconveniences you describe and would like to clarify a few points for your peace of mind. Firstly, we do have a luggage tagging system, and all stored belongings are kept in a secure, monitored area, recorded by CCTV and always under the supervision of a receptionist. This procedure is in place to ensure proper control and the safety of our guests' items at all times. Regarding the facilities, our official platforms inform guests of the gym and solarium renovations, and the jacuzzi is not advertised, as it has not been part of our services for several years. We are sorry if this led to expectations that we were unable to meet. We also sincerely regret not having been made aware during your stay of the concerns you mention regarding the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast schedule management. Had we known at the time, we would have gladly looked for an immediate solution or an appropriate compensation. Please rest assured that we have already shared your comments with the relevant departments so that corrective actions can be taken. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving our services, and we apologize once again for the inconveniences you experienced. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the experience you truly deserve. Best Regards, Anxo Rodríguez Quintana, Assistant Manager.
