Lovely stay
01 May 2026
Stayed 5 nights on self drive tour. Free parking. Good location 5-10 mins drive from restaurants etc. Lovely heritage property, immaculately maintained. Booked junior suite - excellent choice for space. Soundproofing not 100% but never a real issue. Internet variable. Bed and pillows quite hard though. Electrical sockets need sorting. To use kettle you have to unplug fridge. Breakfast OK but nothing special. Staff professional and attentive. Lovely pool area. Be advised you cannot bring outside food and drink into hotel. Overall despite a few niggles we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend. Good value for money.

A wonderful one night stay at this gorgeous place.
16 Oct 2025
We recently stayed here as part of out trip to Sicily and were really impressed with this fantastic hotel. We had originally planned to visit in July but due to an illness in the family we had to cancel. Fortunately we managed to rebook and we were so glad we did. We stayed in room 106 with was huge and had the largest shower that I’ve ever seen in a hotel. The reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful arranging our transfer from our previous hotel. The pool area is gorgeous and the sunbeds are very comfortable. We did not eat at the hotels restaurant as we had done fine dining at our previous place and wanted to try somewhere local but no doubt that would have been a great experience. The breakfast buffet was varied and tasty with the option of choosing from a menu as well. All in all a very pleasurable stay, we only wished we could have stayed longer as we had previously planned. The many great reviews are well deserved. Craig and Michelle x

Dear Craig and Michelle,Thank you so much for your lovely review and for choosing Castello di San Marco during your trip to Sicily. We are truly sorry that illness in your family affected your original plans, but we are very glad you were able to rebook and finally stay with us. It means a lot to know the visit lived up to your expectations.Room 106 is indeed very spacious and yes, that shower tends to surprise quite a few guests! I’m delighted you enjoyed the pool area, the comfort of the sunbeds and the friendliness of our reception team. I will be sure to share your kind words with them, especially regarding the transfer arrangements.Even though you chose to explore a local restaurant (which we always encourage, Sicily has so much to offer!), we hope we might tempt you to try our restaurant on your next visit. I’m very pleased you appreciated the breakfast selection and the combination of buffet and à la carte options.Thank you again for your thoughtful comments. We only wish you could have stayed longer too which hopefully means we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back for a longer stay in the future.Warm regards,Valerio MurabitoOwner & Deputy Manager

Beautiful Old Castello - Overpriced, run down, poor service. Try harder.
25 Sept 2025
This place has great potential. The property is quite nice. The old castello is charming. However, they are charging $800/night, and coming nowhere close to that level of service, facilities, cuisine, amenities. The initial impression is "wow, cool old castello, why is everything so run down?" The next impression was provided by the lady at the reception. Robotic might be the best way to describe her less than welcoming persona. Our room? A mildly renovated old room, with musty smell and very little charm. Stark, minimally appointed, and bathroom sink that wouldn't drain. "Do you smell that," I asked my wife. A faint but distinct smell of sewage. We let the reception know, and they moved us to another room. This one was brand new, super clean, and absolutely massive. The shower had enough room for a family of 8. I'm not kidding. That said, there were many bugs, both living and technological. Wasps all over the outside of our room, so no way to sit out on our patio. No screens, so no fresh air inside. Hmmm, what's up with the A/C? Doesn't seem to shut off, even when it says "off." Our technician, "it seems that these 4 rooms are all wired to a single room, so whatever that room is set to, all of the rooms are set to. Shrugs his shoulders and mumbles something in Italian. Poolside we experience comfortable but weathered facilities. Everything is just worn out and dirty. The pool isn't heated, so prepare for a cold plunge. No one stays in more than 3 minutes. No poolside food or drink service, despite ample staff who prefer to stand around looking at their phones. Overpriced drinks. The swordfish involtini was delicious. Skip their pasta alla'norma. All in all, I cannot recommend this place. They must think that they can milk the Tauramina White Lotus effect. That's a mistake. Try offering good value for money with current facilities, or get out the checkbook and drop $10M+ on renovations.

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sincerely sorry to read that your stay did not fully meet your expectations, although we appreciate the positive remarks regarding the charm of our castle and the quality of certain dishes from our restaurant. That said, we would like to clarify that our property, an authentic historic castle carefully restored stands out for its unique character and atmosphere, elements that naturally differ from those of a modern hotel. The value of the stay lies not only in the services offered but also in the architecture, ambiance, and overall experience we provide to our guests qualities widely recognized and appreciated by the vast majority of those who choose us.Our staff is consistently praised for their courtesy and professionalism; therefore, we are surprised by your perception of detachment upon arrival. Nevertheless, we will investigate this matter further to understand how such an impression could have arisen.Regarding the technical inconveniences mentioned, please note that any issue reported is always handled promptly as demonstrated by the immediate room change you were offered. Maintenance and improvement work are ongoing, as preserving the authenticity of a historic residence requires a delicate balance between heritage and modern comfort. As for the value for money, we are confident that our pricing reflects the exclusivity of the location, the personalized service, and the high-quality dining we provide all consistent with the level and positioning of our establishment. We regret that your experience did not reflect the high standards of satisfaction we strive to deliver, but we assure you that our daily commitment remains focused on genuine hospitality one defined by care and attention, not by passing trends or superficial impressions.Kind regards,Daniele MurabitoOwner & General Manager

Gorgeous venue, rooms a let down
07 Sept 2025
Gorgeous venue and surroundings, absolutely stunning. The main building is so beautiful However, the rooms are designed by people who have clearly never stayed in a hotel before There was no chair for the desk, the cupboard had no door handles to open them, the hooks in bathrooms were falling off, the thermostat in shower is broken, sofa covered by a dirty bedsheet, the list goes on If you are charging close to €450 a night, you better make sure your rooms live up to it
